I relate to misono a lot in the newest chapter because he basically tells mikuni that he has no time to listen to his pompous words and that he'll only listen to mikuni once he comes home with him because same, shut up, dial down your god complex and start looking at other people as people instead of chess pieces again, you moron.
And take lily with you while you're at it.

The way I understood the newest chapter misono dispelled the last part of mikuni's barrier spell that tsubaki needed to be able to use the power/jinn of his siblings without destroying himself during the ritual, which lead to tsubaki basically coughing up all the jinn he aquired from the other servamps over the course of the manga. The jinn seem to return to their former vessels, so does that mean they all have their full powers back now?
If yes I wonder why lily seems to be smiling about that, he's still on mikuni's side, right? Mikuni also doesn't seem to be bothered, so I guess their plan might have been to let the barrier be destroyed and to betray tsubaki the entire time?
Wouldn't be suprising, I guess this way they could gather what they needed for the ritual without tsubaki fighting them for it and now with mikuni's barrier destroyed (it was suspicious how openly he talked with sakuya about it, so that checks out) tsubaki might be done for. There already seemed to be some discord in their alliance earlier when mikuni summoned that sakuya illusion when kuro went to the nameless shrine and tsubaki destroyed it and got angry at mikuni for interfering.
If they wanted to get tsubaki out of the way I guess they really are aiming for a vessel that isn't kuro? Because if not they would have no need to get tsubaki out of the way, tsubaki agreed to let mikuni become the eve of the 9th servamp (which according to this chapter can turn anyone into god, which mikuni seems to want to become) as long as they would help him with turning kuro into the vessel.
So they are probably aiming for someone who is either willing to drink the counts blood (mikuni maybe? So far everyone assumed he just wanted to become the eve, but who knows with that guy), someone freshly dead (tsurugi) or someone they think they can defeat easily (mahiru?).
Maybe I remember it wrong, but the way I understood it tsubaki mainly wanted his siblings power to defeat kuro. If mikuni and lily don't want kuro as the vessel they don't necessarily need that power.

I think it's still not 100% clear who put kuro on mahiru's path, lily said making mahiru sloth's eve was his decision in chapter 136, but the flashback in chapter 113 had what looks like jeje slithering away, implying mikuni was directly involved too?
Tumblr media
Anyway, even if it turns out lily tried to make it sound like he was more involved in setting this all up than he actually was to make misono direct his anger at him and not mikuni, imagine if kuro had simply left before mahiru returned from school at the start of the manga and lily or mikuni would have needed to keep setting up scenarios to make those two meet and form a proper contract with name, item and blood😅
I mean, mahiru already almost messed up what I imagine was also set up by them, berukia's attack at the beginning, by going out to meet his friends:
Tumblr media
If it was indeed a setup by either lily or mikuni this was probably supposed to force kuro to drink mahiru's blood to turn the provisional contract that would have expired after 24 hours into a lasting one.
Then kuro almost messed it up by straight up running away instead of fighting:
Tumblr media
After that mahiru went back to fight berukia alone and almost got killed:
Tumblr media
And even when kuro came back to intervene:
Tumblr media
He originally just wanted to stall for time so mahiru could grab his friends and run. After the fight lily made them fall asleep and teleported them back home, but before that he was probably watching and close to tearing out his perfect hair out because these two morons took so long to make the obvious decision to have kuro drink mahiru's blood to properly take on berukia.
Imagine if mahiru really would have simply ran away to hide until the 24 hours were over😅

It being different for all of them and everyone knowing what would happen to kuro's eve should they get seperated for 18 hours, even though kuro never even had an eve to get seperated from before mahiru, kinda implies that the count came up with each change to each eve on purpose, right? Immortality sure must be boring😅
The count making kuro's eve turn into a cat just like kuro checks out though, he does seem to have a problem with people being different from each other.
But since the distance limit is gone now I guess we'll sadly never see mahiru as a cat :/

The tanakabox spring event from 2018 is back!
Iori is a new addition though, isn't he? He's the last character to show up, talks about how the manga has been running for 13 years, how the anime came out 8 years ago, the movie 6 and that just because the manga is ending soon doesn't mean it's going to disappear.
I got a bit sad while I translated his text😅 I started reading servamp over ten years ago and now it's reaching its end.

I still feel so bad for mahiru because, yes, touma didn't know about mahiru being his son for years and he probably didn't know about akira's death either until tooru confronted him with the diary, which was the probably the true reason touma never contacted them and didn't show up at the funeral (touma trying to act like these things were deliberate choices by mahiru's father when they were not, but shying away from actually revealing that he was talking about himself has so many implications, but that's another topic).
But when mahiru confronts him during the C3 arc these excuses don't work anymore. Touma knows mahiru is his son. And yet he tries to kill him without a second thought anyway. He failed because tsurugi intervened but he did break mahiru's arm. His murderous intent was so strong that thanks to the jinn mahiru could see it:
Tumblr media
Based on the fact that he cast the giant barrier over tokyo and let kuro through when he wanted to get to the nameless shrine we can assume he had a change of heart and doesn't want to kill mahiru anymore, but I imagine the reveal will probably still be hard for mahiru.

I don't recall mikuni ever saying what that other important use was and I doubt he would have wanted to reveal kuro's intended use as the vessel, so could he have meant that kuro has the power to shape the nature of the servamps and their contracts?

It would be kind of funny if touma and mahiru run into each other again soon and touma assumes tooru certainly must have explained everything to mahiru now that tooru's secret work for C3 got revealed, but mahiru is still as clueless as ever and doesn't understand a word of what he's talking about.

Maybe what is special about mahiru is that he actually died in that car accident and akira did something to bring him back that cost her life in the process. But why would that cause mahiru to lack the abilities of a magician? The way uncle tooru spoke about it what is up with mahiru and him not being able to cast spells despite having two casters as parents is related to each other.

Might need to think a bit more about this, but what if mikuni's motivation is actually revenge, just not like they incorrectly concluded against mikado, but against lily for basically ruining his life. And he's just playing along with lily to put him in a false sense of security/to gain the power of the count to truly destroy an immortal servamp like lily.
In that case having lily be the one to kill tsurugi would also have been a clever move on mikuni's part. We don't know if lily ever killed a human, but now he did, which means mikuni's lead would work against him. But jeje knows this will probably lead to him swallowing mikuni because in mikuni's own words: Revenge can't be done reasonably.

It would be so bittersweet if in the end everyone is saved, tsurugi/balder returns after his death in ragnarok, tsubaki finally got convinced to not go through with the ritual and to stop the war, misono snaps lily and mikuni out of their weird delusions about creating a better world by killing millions...
But the only one who from the very beginning told them that they all need to stop trying to kill each other and to cooperate instead is the only one who doesn't survive.
I fear that whatever his true goals or motives might be, power, revenge, his idea of justice, mikuni has gone too far to achieve it and might be next on the list of jeje's eves that lost their minds:
Tumblr media
I think the english translation is slightly off here, jeje engulfing/swallowing his eves makes more sense and my german volume translates it as such.
The eves are supposed to represent reason while the servamp represent sins, so when the eve stops being reasonable jeje has to swallow his eve.
And I think jeje might sense that this is about to happen. There was this very odd bit of inner monologue after he got defeated by ildio and the others:
Tumblr media
Why would jeje lose his name? A servamp can only have one eve, but an eve could have several servamps according to the early chapters of the manga. Mikuni becoming the eve of the count shouldn't end his contract with jeje. The only known way a servamp can lose their name is if the eve dies.
Could he be worried that he's going to swallow mikuni like he did all his other eves except for kiriko soon?
In that case it's going to be interesting to see what his rampaging form looks like. The others were usually similar to their inner demon, but we don't know what the demon of envy looks like.
He's currently locked away and apart from mikuni, possibly at the hospital C3 is using as their temporary base of operation:
Tumblr media
Assuming the pandora fight is finally over, or at least pandora got pushed back enough to allow some of the characters in that battle to do something else, I wonder if the next battle at that location will be against a rampaging jeje who wants to get to mikuni to swallow him.

If my ragnarok theory turns out to be true then jeje might turn into a giant serpent and mahiru as the current user of mjölnir aka thor will have to defeat him, but will be poisoned in the process. Mahiru's other fictional character he's linked to being the little prince makes it even more likely that in this scenario mahiru will get poisoned by the snake and might even die.
Mikuni apparently saying that he had lily hide tsurugi's body away because it has special magical abilities in chapter 140 makes me think it's even more plausible now that someone like johan or lily will do something with tsurugi's corpse to turn him into the fenris wolf. There is no way that tsurugi's werewolf heritage won't play a role after it got revealed. If that also follows ragnarok he's going to try and kill touma/odin.
Anyway, if mahiru really does die kuro might once again be faced with a question he has been asked before:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Would kuro turn mahiru into a subclass to not lose him now that he has come to terms with being a vampire? But mahiru also said something about accepting that the dead won't come back and that this doesn't mean they are truly gone:
Tumblr media
Would be a heartbreaking decision.

I think most people agree that something about what we are being told about akira's death just doesn't quite add up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She is supposedly the one who got hit by the car and died, but in this memory that broke to the surface while mahiru was in extreme emotional turmoil in london we de don't see akira, it looks more like mahiru is the one about to be run over. But we also see him being physically unharmed at his mother's wake. He never remembers seeing akira injured or dead in front of him either.
What if ten year old mahiru wasn't looking when he ran on the street, like kids do sometimes, and got hit? And akira ran to her gravely injured son and used a healing spell that used her life as payment:
Tumblr media
Kinda like iori had done to teleport kuro and mahiru to london. And either mahiru or someone else has been repressing that memory for him and that's why so many of his flashback's to his mother are slightly odd (like why is her face often obscured unless someone forces mahiru to remember her).
Speaking of iori, I fear mahiru doesn't even know yet that the teleportation spell cost iori's his life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both tsurugi and mahiru use present tense when speaking about iori and tsurugi quickly changes the subject when mahiru is about to ask more about him. It seems like tsurugi didn't want mahiru to feel responsible, especially when everybody relies on him and kuro to stop tsubaki.

Follow up on my previous post. By the looks of it mikuni is forcing his lethal attack on both of them. IF the noose in front of misono isn't just a weird perspective making it look like mikuni's noose is just pretty close to misono too. Now that I think about it longer this is probably what is happening here. But even just mikuni's noose looking like it could be around misono's neck too in that panel...there is a message here.
Misono doesn't have lethat techniques as far as we know. So far he has used his lead to force people into chess games and even the move he used against berukia in chapter 7 was explicitly only hurting someone's mind, not their body:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(A way tsurugi could not be dead after lily seemingly cut off his head? Maybe...but...why would lily hold back...hm.)
So how would he even kill this mikuni clone (?) if he wanted to? Mikuni putting the noose around his own neck looks like he's begging his brother to judge him.

Do not trust my chatgpt translation of this, but this is apparently about tsurugi.
Mikuni praises misono for seeing through his plan and switching places with tsurugi during the hostage situation. But it's also sounds kind of mocking because the switch put tsurugi in a place where mikuni could kill him?
Misono asks him what happened with tsurugi. Mikuni replies, and again, don't trust my translation, by asking misono what he would do if he told him he killed tsurugi. He also says something about tsurugi's body having a strong affinity with magic, so to stop someone else from using it he had lily hide it? I'm not sure what he means by that? Was the body not being there an illusion or did lily move the body away?
I'm really starting to get the feeling that by asking misono what he would do if he told him that he killed tsurugi and at another point asking what exactly he planned to do when coming face to face with him, plus the noose around his neck that he's trying to bait misono into killing him.
