1) Are you named after anyone? Leia (my mum's middle name, she was named for Princess Leia now Commander) Antoinette (my maternal grandmother's middle name)

2) Last time I cried? A day ago. I felt like I was on the verge of a mental breakdown because someone who was horribly abusive to me, in every way, lives near my apartment complex.

3) Any kids? Not yet but I want to have a child as well as adopt a child. I'd also like to adopt my youngest brother.

4) Do I use sarcasm? I don't understand sarcasm but I sure try to use it a lot.

5) First thing I notice about someone? Usually their shoes. I'm shy when it comes to eye contact so I usually look down.

6) Eye color? Black as night but very dark chocolate brown and hot coffee in the sun.

7) Horror movie or happy ending? I love horror movies, thriller, psychological, gross, gory, heartstopping, bitter sweet endings.

Are you named after anyone? sort of??? my real name is as generically common as it gets, but my chinese first name comes from a chinese saying so that kind of counts i guess, Rowan doesn’t come from anything it’s just a gender neutral name that caught my interest a while back

Shit No One Told Me About My Period

I knew the basics before I got it, but I had no clue…

* The blood wouldn’t necessarily be red. When I first got my period, I spent a few min looking at my underwear wondering how I shit myself. I didn’t know the blood could look brown, or be thick.

* That tampons weren’t a good idea yet. I was 10 or 11 when I got my first period and physically smaller than an adult woman. My first attempt at inserting a tampon was very painful and unsuccessful. I wouldn’t use them until I was around 14 or so.

* That when you use pads the blood can get on your bottom and I’d have to occasionally clean off the toilet seat after using it.

* That getting your first period DOES NOT mean you’re fully developed and fully able to bear children. I could have technically gotten pregnant at that age, but I was still a child and pregnancy would have put my life in danger because I was still physically immature.

* That it wouldn’t be regular for another few years.

* That very painful cramping is NOT NORMAL once you reach your 20s and is cause for concern.

* That the blood and tissue you pass can look chunky or stringy and not like blood from a cut.

* That stress can halt your period for months BUT

* That doesn’t mean you can’t get pregnant

I wish people would be more aware that aromanticism and asexuality don't always go hand-in-hand. It also gets a little annoying when someone who might just be waiting for the right person is assumed to be ace/aro. Both are annoying, though more so the former than the latter.

Since there seems to be some confusion: "demisexual" does NOT mean "waiting to have sex"

It does not mean “deciding not to have sex with people you’re not dating”

It does not mean “deciding not to have sex before marriage”

It is literally not about sexual decisions at all.

Demisexuality is about attraction. Like asexuality.

People who are demisexual don’t experience sexual attraction to people they don’t know well.

This can make it hard for them to date because they don’t experience sexual attraction to strangers, so gauging sexual attraction can be difficult.

Demisexuality is real. It is valid. Do not erase the experiences of demisexual people. They do not need to be more oppressed than people of other orientations in order for their orientations and identities to be valid.
