@dapurinthos WONDERFUL analysis!
I almost tagged you for your thoughts in my original response because you are so amazing with this stuff and this is no exception!!
Yet as you say... in so many ways, all we are left with is questions.
And!! And. Speaking of questions. To those of you in the tags who are saying that I, Jess, should somehow "know" WHY the bed is this big?? I DO NOT KNOW.
Tumblr media
For sex reasons?! I know about how sex works! What I do NOT know is what kind of theoretical sex he could be possibly having that would warrant a bed at least double or triple his already enormous height. Is he having sex with the Tirra taka?! Is he having sex with multiple clones of himself??
Actually I think @man-i-dunno is on to something with it being a holdover from his parents Count Gora and Anya's attempt to place as much distance as they could while still being technically sharing a marriage bed.
For the ask game - 5, 7, 18 for dooku?
5) Out of all your fanworks that include Dooku, which is your favourite?
If I had to tell people to just read one of my Dooku fics, I think it would be Milk Run.
I think it’s my best Jedi Dooku character work, and I loved writing his dynamics with Qui-Gon, Jocasta Nu, and Sifo-Dyas. It’s a longer work, but hey, fuck being self-deprecating, I’d vouch for every page of that shit: if someone gets to the end of chapter two, where Dooku very awkwardly and earnestly tries to explain Jedi sex life to Qui-Gon, and doesn’t love the fic by then, I’ll give the reader a free coupon for… uh, *turns out pockets* I guess an essay on Legends/EU. :D :D ??
7)Is there a piece of clothing you think Dooku is particularly fond of/that you imagine them wearing a lot or like to draw them in?
I go with the characterization from the novels that Dooku is very fastidious about his Jedi uniform, keeping it all neat and perfect, very rarely if ever out of uniform. Like Sifo-Dyas and Jocasta Nu’s depictions, he’s got those warmer colored tan/gold/cream/warm brown Jedi tunics with the little flourishy gold detail work on the sleeves and hems.
I like this because it’s fun to write the rare times when he needs to be out of uniform for a mission or something, and he’s completely awkward about it. And it’s fun foil with my headcanon that Sifo-Dyas is out of uniform a LOT with his underworld work. I like imagining them side by side looking like they came out of different eras.
Seer of the Cosmic Force, fated to speak with the froth of doom on his lips? No, it’s that guy over there in the hoodie and the manbun, trying to convince the barista to take a coupon for a complimentary drip coffee but instead give him a free extra large matcha frappe with a five squirts of coconut syrup and extra whip.
18)Type Dooku’s name and tell us what the autocomplete suggests as the next word
You know, I tried this in my SMS to see if it would give me a different answer than my previous, and got “Dooku cleaned”
Hmmmmmmm. *making direct eye contact with Sifo-Dyas*

Absolutely I could. In fact, I've been waiting my whole life for this. THE "Exquisite Pajamas!" I believe they're even available as an easter egg costume option in... one of SW video games, I can't remember which. I have so many questions. Who even ordered them for him?? Were they a gift from Jenza before he murdered her? Or did he procure them for himself, did he think "ah yes I must have the finest pajamas and I'll have them monogrammed, too, so I don't slip up and call myself either Darth Tyranus or Master Dooku." Speaking of the monogrammed "CD" - why is his title used as an initial? Did you notice he's wearing slippers in that whole scene? So, we wore his soled slippers to bed?? He took off his lightsaber, but not his shoes? And he sleeps, presumably routinely, on top of the sheets in the dead center of his bed? To him that is normal? AND WHY IS HIS BED SO BIG?? What is that FOR? Does he want to feel small?!
Really, they couldn't have given us a more intimate, disturbing, perverted glimpse into Dooku's dark inner world as that whole bedroom scene. I truly believe an onscreen sex act would have opened up less troubling questions into his psyche.
...I've actually got Sifo-Dyas's ghost giving him shit about the pajamas in chapter 3 of The Thunder Answered Back. (A light moment in an otherwise very sad fic, so read at your own peril.)

the jedi high council, c. 55BBY through to the end in 19BBY, with further division by the legends ‘permanent/long-term/short-term’ seats, where the short-term is roughly a 5 year term. tera sinube is not right because he’s on the council in 40bby, but i see him as the kind of person that wanders on and off the high council. plo koon also wanders in and out, because he goes out finding children every few years.
general headcanon is that, at the end of a five-year term, it can be renewed for another five years or they move to a long-term seat. colour basically shows who’s sitting in the actual same chair. yes, if they leave the council and come back, they sit in the most recently vacated chair. no, you cannot be attached to a chair, ki-adi, you get a new one now. yaddle & shaak ti are the only ones who have stayed in their original chair and seat-type. the gold bit at 34/33bby should probably have micah giiett in it.

lolol well let's check in with the gang:
<cut for possible spoilers to upcoming Rabbit Heart chapters>
Sifo-Dyas just had the ever-loving shit kicked out of him, Dooku is vacillating between standing in dark rooms emoting in utter, terrifying silence and saying the absolute worst shit imaginable to Sifo in a misguided understanding of his role in this whump fic, and his child Rael is like, right there completely underfoot and plotting trouble and constantly interrupting them, so I...
...so, actually, I haven't decided how much actual sexiness is in this fic!
wait what are YOU thinking about right now
well, after what you just told me: filthy cuddling >:)

playing musical chairs with the high council seats again, while refining this timeline, and it, uh, it's kinda funny to look at because you have 42 - 39BBY going like this:
42BBY: Dooku leaves Jedi Order, opening up a seat on the High Council
41BBY: Jocasta Nu on the High Council (seen in Jedi: Fallen Order: Dark Temple 1)
40BBY: Qui-Gon offered seat on council.
Qui-Gon & Obi-Wan ordered to Pijal.
Rael & Qui-Gon gossip about Dooku's order-leaving.
Dooku finally calls Rael back, re 'new power' he's discovered aka the dark side.
39BBY: Sifo-Dyas joins the High Council.
i think it's hilarious if the chain goes:
Dooku joins High Council.
Dooku leaves High Council, in what may be the shortest tenure anyone has achieved, at least until 19BBY and Anakin Skywalker lasts a whole thirty-three or so hours.
Jocasta takes his seat as a temporary measure, given implications that she 'traded the High Council seat for the Archives' back when she was ~ 42.
High Council agrees (except Yoda) to offer Qui-Gon the chair. Jocasta wants to go back to her Archives, she cannot have her attention split. Yesterday, she caught a title that had a semi-colon instead of a colon on its database entry. This cannot be tolerated!
Qui-Gon declines.
High Council offers Sifo-Dyas the chair. He probably does a 'who, me?' little bit of mime before letting out a little cackle in the library break room when telling Jocasta.
Sifo-Dyas accepts, joins High Council, rubs his little hands together in glee.
i call it the bogan's advocate chair. it's the troublemakers' chair. the heretic chair.

Ohhh, could I beg for 6 for the ask game? :D
But of course. As requested, a small excerpt from a WIP. (Sorry, not from the Sith AU 😁)
It's a section from the third part of the "Butterfly Effect". I've been tinkering with it for over a year, but somehow the story has gotten completely out of control... ...
Smiling, Plagueis picked up the scalpel that Sifo-Dyas had cut himself with a few moments ago. He held it up to the light and looked at it for a moment. Some blood was still on it.
"Interesting creatures, these Midichloriana, aren't they?" the Sith continued in a conversational tone. As if they were sitting together having a nice little chat. "They are a part of the Force and a part of reality. Allow us to influence its energy. Do you know what else they can do?"
Sifo didn't know and didn't want to know. (A fact the Sith was completely indifferent to).
He continued calmly: "I have conducted various experiments in recent years and have achieved some remarkable results. These few drops of your blood, for example, are enough to give me access to your Midichloriana and thus access to your Essence. Remarkable, isn't it?"
Remarkable? Sy became dizzy. Remarkably disturbing was more like it. He didn't need a mirror to notice how his face lost all color. Time to end this. Igniting his sword, he moved into an attack stance.
"Oh, don't. How impolite of you." Plagueis shook his head in amusement, adopting the posture of a crèche master who had caught his charges in a harmless prank. "Do me the pleasure of taking part in a little demonstration."
The Force tugged warningly at his consciousness, but he had no time to act before
Plaguei's fingers closed around the medical blade. Nothing happened for a moment, but then the temperature plummeted even further. The cold crept into his body on invisible spider legs. It seemed to carry nettle poison with it, causing his nerves to flare up. It burned, it hurt. Tears ran down his face.
"This process is not very pleasant, as you can see." The Muun watched pitilessly as his opponent collapsed to his knees. "... and you don't need this anymore, Master Dyas."
To Sifo's horror, his lightsaber twitched and strode towards Damask. What had been his trusted and loyal companion since childhood was changing. The kyber crystal's harmony was changing. This could not be! Dissonances made the hilt vibrate, intensifying the pain in his hand, making his skin clammy with the effort of holding the saber.
Sy was barely able to hold on to it as his trembling body began to strive forward. An invisible power pulled and tugged at him, demanding that he bow down, crawl on all fours to his new master.

oh hey 22. for Dooku and Bail respectively please and also 25 for Sifo-Dyas :D
22. Give us a headcanon for [character]
Dooku
this man can sleep anywhere and in any position. the consequences of years of missions in the outer rim and how often he puts off sleep in favor of a mission or nervously walking around/lightsaber practice.
because of this, when he finally falls asleep, he is able to sleep with noise from which the walls tremble and under the light of all the suns at once. as long as there is no danger/fear/pain in the Force, he will sleep
Rael quickly learned to use this. Qui-Gon thought for the first time that his master was meditating, and the next time he was worried that Dooku was in a coma or about to die
Bail!!
Bail would have shot Anakin in the face WITHOUT DELAY after the order of course
look, in Wild Space, the mistake of an entire Sith planet was that it ignored this man, simply because there were stones more sensitive to the Force than him. and he took advantage of this and pulled both himself and Obi-Wan out of there. I'm just saying that if he had the opportunity to kill Vader, he would do it even at the cost of his own life. no pity, no second chances, he saw the burning temple and Padme's body. there is no sentimentality, just a blaster in his hands.
25. What's your least favourite thing Sifo-Dyas said or did?
he never did nothing wrong in his entire life
yes, there are clones, but this is one of my favorite things he made :D
probably his avoidance of Dooku. in the cursed book, it looks like they started talking less around the time Rael was knighted and Sifo-Dyas was the instigator of it. I assume that this is connected with the visions and OF COURSE by trying to prevent them, he became one of the links that led to his visions coming true.
perhaps, if he had not moved away from Dooku, if he had been another anchor tying him to the Order, a shoulder to lean on, his friend would not have fallen. or things would have been worse, and they would have fed each other's paranoia and mistrust of the system, so that together they could fall down the rabbit hole of the Dark Side))
who knows...
thanks for the ask!!
if anyone also wants to play or ask, here is the post

I actually really like Sifo-dyas’s characterization in The Living Force, just this absolutely harried man.
Of course he’s making bad decisions! Why worry about the present when each second is bleeding into a future that is horrifying beyond description.
(I know it’s no longer him who orders the clone army in canon anymore, but this version of him seems much more like the kind of man who would do something like that.)
I mostly agree with you about Sifo-Dyas’s characterization in the Living Force!
We’ll eat for years on Seeker Sifo. (I always thought it was cute that as a kid, Sifo-Dyas had found out who his own Seeker was, and that it was a cool High Republic Jedi to boot?! No wonder he wants to be one.) And I like that the book seems to go out of his way to establish that Sifo-Dyas wasn’t just on the Council as a token guy, but he was their whole Future Department, and that his departure left them seriously lacking in their ability to perceive that. It adds some complexity to the Council’s comments on how clouded the future is in the prequel films.
The last time we saw Sifo-Dyas in any Star Wars property, it was 2019 in Dooku: Jedi Lost. We leave him collapsed on Serenno, completely out of his mind, laughing and crying on the ground after watching Dooku burst a fucking dragon out of the planet. It's seriously great to pick back up with our boy's story in this book, and get some content about the period after that devastating moment. Content which suggests he’s not only been functioning, but on the Council and clearly an important person there, acting with agency and an agenda to try to save his people.
And pissing off Even Piel lol. He deserves to be a problem, as a treat. This is Lene Kostana’s son, after all. He is a person Asajjj Ventress thinks is too rebellious, whose stated reason for breaking into a forbidden Archive section full of dangerous artifacts is “because I’m a troublemaker.” I love a sweet, soft Sifo characterization as much as the next person, but let’s face it, he’s a sarcastic little shit who spends most of Dooku: Jedi Lost choosing chaos, probably because his own defiance is the one thing in his life he feels any control over.
And I love your point about his (understandable!) disregard for the present. In that way, he makes the perfect conflict/foil for the Living Force and Qui-Gon’s message about living in the moment.
Not to contradict you on this last point, and please, someone chime in if I’m incorrect about this - I think current canon doubled down on Sifo-Dyas definitively being the one to order the Clone Army. In the canon novel, Force Collector, the main character finds Sifo-Dyas’s last recording before his crash, where he explains his whole reasoning behind ordering the Clones and takes responsibility for it. And I think the Clone Wars episode “The Lost One” also discusses his involvement in the plot, initially collaborating with Dooku before being murdered and Dooku taking over/sabotaging the project with the chip interference. Dooku: Jedi Lost seeming to go to some length to create backstory around that particular detail - why Sifo-Dyas would go specifically to Dooku with the Clone project (not realizing he’s fallen) and how he had secure, untraceable means to get in contact with Dooku after all those years. (That stupid cursed comlink Dooku gives him at the end of the book in case he ever needs him.)

Does Dooku have a first name, or did in Legends? The Rupalp’s Podrace podcast has this running joke where they say it’s Craig. So I sometimes tag posts “Craig Dooku”.
How much does Legends Dooku seep into your fics?
Oh, fun question! I'd seen that tag and wondered. That's great. :D
No first name in Legends - which lead to the famous fanon "Yan Dooku" which started popping up in fics when the films were coming out. In current canon, I think Dooku is supposed to be his first name, and "House Serenno" is his family name, with the planet (re?)named for his family after they threw the ancient Sith out back in the day. So he'd be Dooku of House Serenno, or Dooku Serenno, which I actually love. Secret heir vibes with him just going by his first name when his last name would immediately give away his connection to a family that hated him and threw him out.
As for Legends Dooku and my fics - I write Sith-Era Dooku strongly influenced by Legends. His portrayal in Yoda: Dark Rendezvous is likely why I'm a Dooku fan: I like the mix of wry elegance, deadliness, and a pit of needy instability. It's a heady brew.
By contrast, Legends Jedi Dooku gave me a tummy ache. Current Canon Jedi-Era Dooku is actually WHY I started writing fic again after a billion years away. I feel like it gave me a lot of permission to write Jedi Dooku the way I'd always wanted to, working backward from how he ends up, instead of this cardboard cutout evil guy with a couple Dracula references thrown in that we see in Legends. I never understood why the Council, people who he didn't even get along with, would vouch for him so hard in AotC if he was this cold, unpleasant caricature of a person.
I'm not saying the current canon doesn't have any flaws, but they let Jedi Dooku be brave, funny, emotional (fucking SO EMOTIONAL), a great teacher, parental, warm, awkward, embarrassing, and genuine. He has moments of incredible valor and ability; he also makes mistakes and sometimes just totally wipes out with them. He's stern and reserved, but he also surrounds himself with loving, funny extroverts.
Anyway, as a person who mainly writes fic with Dooku in that Jedi era, it was great characterization to me and I draw on it heavily. That's a guy I want to take on an adventure, you know?

Hi it's me :D in my defense I let a whole six minutes elapse before smashing that ask button ahem 17 for Atrem and 25 please for Dooku
I admire your restraint shdhsbdgshr
17. What's a book, movie, or show you think Atrem would like?
Oooo interesting! He's the type who loves watching shit like Love Island or The Ultimatum and doesn't shut up for the entire runtime (until he crosses his arms and dozes off within 0.2 seconds)
And, needless to say, The Devil Wears Prada. All sorts of Old Hollywood classics. SPAGHETTI WESTERN. And also regular American western movies tbh he's not picky in that regard. Furthermore he is a documentary addict who is asleep for most of it but still somehow recalls its contents when you wake him up
(can't speak for books because I barely read nonfiction these days but he'd definitely enjoy historical thrillers)
18. What's your least favourite thing Dooku said or did?
As in "shit that makes me fucking cry" that'd be
"But she's my most trusted—"
"You have failed me for the last time."
BECAUSE THEY. TH EY MAKE ME SO SAD. I get goosebumps every time I watch that episode where he cuts Asajj off. It's almost physically painful
And as for "he wouldn't fucking say that" uhhh honestly all the racist fantasies about that stupid "Empire of Man" in the RotS novelization by Matthew Stover. Here we have someone raised by and among non-humans who ended up in charge of a mostly non-human organization, so I kinda expected some legwork from Stover to explain where the hell the genuine racism came from but nope. Idk this one kinda fucks with my brain every time I remember it lol

6, 13 and 18 (Dooku) for the fandom ask, please :D
6) Show us a bit of a WIP!
:D You get the Sifo + Dooku + Time Travel Piece that I'm "definitely" "not" "writing." Some Asajj + 20 year old Dooku team-up nobody asked for. Especially not Asajj. -
Asajj studied him again, more appraisingly this time. He did look disconcertingly familiar.
Did Dooku have an heir that she’d never heard about? She’d clocked the boy as younger, what with all his naivete and whining, but now that she really looked at him… Nineteen? Maybe twenty years old? The age lined up disconcertingly well with Dooku’s first days as Count. A hereditary title, after all, passed from father to son. The idea of Dooku reproducing was nauseating, of course, though it was at least a little funny to imagine the former Jedi’s face upon being informed that House Serenno required his “gift” to ensure the bloodline’s survival.
But no. Why would House Serenno surrender an heir to the Jedi? She didn’t need to see the long braid to recognize that this was clearly one of their Padawan Learners; he reeked of a sheltered Temple upbringing. She could practically smell the refectory milk on his breath.
“Why do you want to be the one to kill Count Dooku so badly, anyway?” she asked, instead.
“He killed my best friend!” His voice broke on the word best, but his fury streaked, vibrant as a comet in the Force.
Asajj almost choked on her laugh. It was so melodramatic. Cliche. Like a line from an overwrought holonovel, spinning out in predictable plot hooks before her eyes. This Jedi child was pathetic. She ought to get them into space and send him to look for Dooku out the airlock. It seemed like it would save her and the Jedi both a lot of trouble.
She thought of her sisters.
Vengeance. Thick and sweet and tangy, like spoiled cream clinging to her tongue. It belonged to her, but no less to the others whose lives Dooku had crushed out for no better reason than because he could. She was here to glut on the Count’s blood. Who was she to deny this hungry child his own right to the feast? Dooku made a big corpse. There was plenty for all.
“Do you know how to sit down and shut up?” Asajj turned briskly to the ship controls. They had already wasted too much time.
“Yes.” A lie. She could tell that without even looking at him.
“Yes, what?” She prompted, glancing back. Maybe she just wanted to hear him try to call her “my lady” in that ridiculous, overformal Coruscanti accent of his.
He swallowed audibly, clearly uncertain. He glanced again at the twin lightsabers at her waist and seemed to decide. “Yes, Master.”
Asajj couldn't help the small, startled laugh that broke from her chest. That hadn’t been what she was expecting. No one had ever called her that. She felt surprised at the strength of her own reaction. Perhaps this would actually be amusing. At least, for a little while.
“What is your name?”
“My name?”
Asajj rolled her eyes. “You have a name? Or should I just refer to you as ‘idiot’?”
She watched his hesitation, saw those big, guileless brown eyes drift and refocus. Black fucking stars, he lied artlessly, like a child.
“Sifo-Dyas. My name is Sifo-Dyas.”
13)What's a character or ship you haven't written/drawn yet but would like to some day?
I know I went backwards here writing the most unknown/unpopular character in the series with Sifo-Dyas to the most popular, but I'd really like to spend a little bit more time with Obi-Wan. He's got a large role in the next chapter of Twelves Months to Murder Count Dooku and I'm really excited. I really like the character. Kenobi changed something for me about him.
18) Type [charater]'s name and tell us what the autocomplete suggests as the next word
Lolol. "Dooku FOUGHT." "Dooku only" and "Dooku Nu" were other suggestions. Yeah, that really says it all. No notes, google.

BOLI I'M HERE FOR YOU BOSS 7 for Sifo, 15, and 23 please :D
MY MOST TRUSTED SOLDIER
7: is there piece of clothing I think Sifo is very fond of
Uhhh, honestly, I haven't really thought about that at all. The low handing fruit would be to say some sort of shirt he stole from Dooku, but that's too easy.
both for me and for Sy.
So imma lean out on a branch here and say he actually has a pair of Jocasta's archivist tabards. She does NOT know he has them and he DEFINITELY wants to keep it that way. there's no way of telling what her revenge would be if she ever found out, but that's what makes having them all the more fun and interesting.
It's about the thrill of the unknown.
15: have you noticed your style change over time
HA
SURE
i mean, especially my drawing style changes with the stand of the sun, the constellation of the planets and with the way the neighbor's cat looks at me.
i think consistent style change is most evident in how I draw manga, actually. Something you lot here on tumblr might actually have not seen ever, now that i think about it. lol. there my style actually is rather consistent throughout mediums by now, something i cannot say about my style when i draw outside of that setting :P
But also with writing I think there was some progress. at least I like to call it progress (the main thing that comes to mind is that i've started using less brackets and more indents, but whether or not thats a good thing is up in the air lol)
23: has my favorite character/ship changed over time
changes with the moon, the sun, the way the wind blows.... most of the time I don't actually have a fixed favorite (shocking, I know)
like,I will say that Sifo and Rael are blorbos supreme, but that doesn't necessarily make them my favorite characters.
my favorite is whatever character works nicest for whatever shenanigans i am planning for my current project. I think that has always been like that.
same with ships, i actually need to change things up once in a while bc too much of the same thing grows boring to me and then I lose interest. (which is why my most recent fad is to just expand existing ships i am fond of into continuously growing poly circles XD It is turning into a bit of a problem) (yes, this is mud-fic relevant TT)
I think another thing worth mentioning here tho is that in regards to ships the most notable change is that I ship things at all. Initially when I started out I was very much a Gen baby and wanted more stories that didn't hinge on some romance for plot-furthering. Which is why my older stories also are all Gen.
I still think that a good story doesn't rely on romance, but I've since come to appreciate the character studies that come with romantic/sexual relationships and how they influence people. Also sometimes I just look at two (or more) characters and thin "ho, ho, wouldn't it be HORRIBLE if they fucked?"
