🍋 What’s your favorite spicier trope to write?

Oof that's tough. I love so many for so many different reasons! I suppose specifically for Connor/Sixty/Nines, leaning into the whole deviant hunter thing and having a chase involved (either literal or metaphorical) is always fun. Also exploring the 'otherness' of androids and how they differ to humans.

🍌In your opinion, what's the funniest joke/ reference/pun you've made in a fic?

I already answered this here, but I also love in In Too Deep where Sixty has 'lucky you' on the inside of the zipper of his jeans. It seemed a very Sixty thing to do!

Fluff/smut tied at the top, then angst, then crack. But I sometimes feel in an angsty mood and fluff goes out the window.

Hmm that's tough, it depends on my mood. But I'm gonna go with fluff/smut tied at the top, then angst, then crack.

I find it difficult to write one-shots, so multichaptered is my preference. The fic usually lets me know if it's going to be short or long and I just roll with it lol.

Nines. I have ideas but they never seem to manifest!

🍌 In your opinion, what’s the funniest joke/reference/pun you’ve made in a fic?

Because you asked me that question, I now have no memory of ever being even slightly amusing in any fic ever. I feel like I've given Sixty some fun quips over the course of writing him, and made jokes at his expense. One moment that stands out was me making his real name Conor with one N in Apple Tea because their parents had no imagination. That was just mean of me!

🫐 What’s your favorite underrated thing in your fandom?

I'm not sure if it counts as underrated, but I love seeing the different ways people interpret canon characters when canon is so fluid with their motivations and choices. It gives fan fic writers a lot of freedom to take their stories in whatever directions they choose, and it's so cool to see what people like to focus on, even if it's not personally my jam.

Probably hardcore violence or torture. There are also a few kinks I will likely never write because I don't personally like them (no shame though!). I tend to steer clear of incest too, although I appreciate that a couple of my poly stories might cross into that territory for some people.

🍒 What’s your favorite character dynamic to write? (Can be romantic or platonic, specific or general!)

I'm a romance writer at heart! I love me some mutual pining.

I love Connor, Sixty and Nines, as everyone knows. (And a bit of Kamski now and then.) I have a lot of headcanons regarding them. I should probably do a separate post sometime! It's kind of become a cliché now, but I love the portrayal of Nines as a grumpy hardass with the potential for softness with the right people. I also love the idea of Sixty being kind of a wild child. I feel like he'd rebel as a deviant after being so mission-focused in canon.

The 'write for yourself uwu' culture shift has done real damage to fic writers imo. I recently had a post on the importance of strategic commenting break containment and I'm surprised by how many strangers who rb it in agreement feel the need to reassure in the tags that they do write for themselves, but...

There is a kernel of truth in the heart of this sentiment--if you only chase stats, you are unlikely to find joy in your writing. At the same time, I think we've veered too far in the other direction.

It is only natural to want engagement and the write for yourself crowd often overlooks how communal an effort fic writing usually is. So many story ideas are born from casual discussions about h/c's and favourite scenes and what ifs and the comment box is a cornerstone of this process. Not only can the discussions in the comment box be a hub for idea generation on their own, but even when the said idea generation takes place in DMs or Discord chats, commenting is often the first/easiest way into befriending authors; it's where community building starts.

Further, the write for yourself crowd similarly overlooks that the things a writer can write for themselves are often vast and many at any given time, and relative engagement levels across fandoms/ships can play a large part in which of those ideas a writer chooses to pursue--or whether they choose to publish their finished work at all.

In sum, I don't think we need to be this apologetic as writers for wanting feedback and engagement for what we post -- writing is hard work and it's only human that we want something external out of it in turn, however rewarding the process might intrinsically be.
