Great overview of an awesome day.  You can see some of our staffers in these photos, AND our guys developed Place Corgi, the absolute best place on the web to find custom placeholder images of corgis.
Lastly, it was our honor to host the CoderFaire afterparty at the zoo - we had a great time hanging with elephants and devs alike.  Thanks again to all for an awesome event!!
One of the many many things I love about my gig as an API Evangelist at Mashery is the privilege to travel and discover new places full of developer talent. My visit to Nashville for CoderFaire last month was just the latest addition to that growing list.

I leave for Uganda with Blood:Water Mission in a week and as I prepare for this journey, I’ve been reading a book called When Helping Hurts by Steven Corbett and Brian Fikkert. Although this book is narrated through the eyes of the Christian faith, I believe whether one is religious or...

When I first made the triple back flip, grand pirouette dive into web design from print design, one of the best pieces of advice given to me was “don’t recreate the wheel until you’re ready”. For two days straight I was on every photoshop design freebie site the internet had and I downloaded whole...

A World With More Phones Than People
A new report from the World Bank details the astounding growth of mobile since the year 2000. Then — just 12 years ago — there were less than a billion mobile subscriptions worldwide. Today, there are more than 6 billion and the count will “will soon exceed that of the human population,” according to the Bank (it is common in many countries for one person to own multiple SIM cards). Three-quarters of the world population now has access to a mobile phone.

Some great friends of ours at Musea, an organization that is changing the world through photography, have launched an IndieGoGo Campaign to generate funds for development of their Musea store and to launch the inaugural Musea Gathering. Check out their video, and if you feel inspired, help them out by crowdfunding their campaign.

Chris Crutchfield created a humorous video about an experience he had of receiving multiple alerts all at once. When this happens to us, we generally check out for a bit and play wolf quest.

Twitter refreshed its brand image recently. Here is an image, created by Graham Smith, where you can see the old logo in gray and the new one in blue. We tend to agree with Graham in that the new logo, while subtly changed, conveys a simple refinement that projects maturity for the Twitter platform. Twitter officially says that "this bird will be the universally recognizable symbol of Twitter. There's no longer a need for text, bubbled typefaces, or a lowercase 't' to represent Twitter."
Neat-o!

It's been so much fun to work with Deborah on her social media strategy! And no, we don't really saw anyone's head off.
It feels like the top of my head has been sawed off and the interactive media gurus at CentreSource have been pumping information into my brain with an air hose.

The Society for News Design picked five of the world's best designed newspapers.
They are:
Excelsior - Mexico City, Mexico
National Post - Toronto, ON, Canada
Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung - Frankfurt am Main, Germany
The Grid - Toronto, ON, Canada
Politiken - Copenhagen, Denmark
In the age of digital news, do you still read analog newspapers? If so, what is your opinion on newspaper design? Should news be treated with a traditional format or injected with artistic expression?
