WARNING: lots of angst and sadness

~ Sloth - excessive laziness and reluctance to exert effort ~

when he was declared an Angel, Hyungwon was given the role of the Calmer

he was put in charge of keeping the humans relaxed, allowing for leisure and relaxation

he kept the humans happy, they kept each other safe, like a perfect circle of trust

Hyungwon was there the day that Shownu fell

he watched as his brother had his wings taken from him, and watched him fall to the earth

Hyungwon’s heart broke, knowing that he would most likely never see him again

the Angels had always had a special bond, and seeing Shownu cast out like that really took a toll on Hyungwon’s heart

the hurt that he felt began to then translate into his duties

he began to avoid his duties repeatedly, worried that he would end up just like his oldest brother

he would spend days in isolation, just keeping to himself

he couldn’t bear the thought of losing any of his brothers, or even himself to sin

at least, that was the case in the beginning…

soon, Hyungwon began to take joy in his time off

he found that he loved to sleep and to lounge around whenever he pleased, preferring that to doing his duties

the other Angels watched in confusion as their brother began to decrease the amount of effort he exerted

naturally, when confronted, Hyungwon explained to them that the reason for this was to avoid ending up like their leader, Shownu

the other Angels understood, but still worried about the fate of their brother, for he was on a path to another crime against heaven

sadly, the more time he spent procrastinating, the more the humans began to suffer because of it

the humans became more stressed, never being able to find time to relax

it was like the world had sped up, causing people to become more busy and anxious

more and more people were beginning to break down, and calmness became a thing of the past

because of this, the world began to suffer

people broke down, businesses began to fail, more and more people were being left in the dust

and because of this, tragedy rocked the world

 a pure and innocent soul from a human was taken from the world too early for their time, a soul that was meant to carry out a great purpose for heaven itself

it was a human that Hyungwon was in charge of protecting

that was the final straw for the kingdom of heaven

because of Hyungwon’s laziness and lack of motivation to due his duties, a soul meant to serve heaven’s purpose was stripped from the world too soon

Hyungwon was in his usual spot at the time, the gardens, lazing around on his favorite patch of grass

that was, until, the sky turned dark, and lightning struck mere inches from where he lay

the thunder boomed and the sky began to pour with rain, just like it had when Shownu was cast out

Hyungwon begged and pleaded, wishing to understand what crime he had committed 

it was explained to him that he had become negligent, that he had begun to prefer laziness and lack of effort to his vows as an Angel

he was also told that because of him, an innocent was killed, an innocent that was meant to carry out a purpose for heaven on earth

tears fell softly down his face, as he realized the mistake he had made

in his desperate attempt to avoid ending up like Shownu, he had inadvertently committed another sin against heaven

he would face the same fate as his oldest brother before him

and so, the wings were taken from Hyungwon’s back, and the Angel’s grace was taken from his soul

as Hyungwon fell from heaven, he saw the pure soul ascended to the pearly gates

all he could do was watch as the soul he was meant to protect left the world by his doing

and so, as the soul would never return to earth, Hyungwon would never witness the beauty of heaven again

no more would he see his brothers, see the world, protect his people

another brother had fallen to sin

Some people just don't understand the whole "reader insert" thing. The same happens when they fetishise Korean women and "insert" them. Or when you're automatically american, white and have a whole family. Why is it hard to make an independent woman, with no skin, eye, hair color and body complexion determined? And ethnicity, too. I'm Latina and I NEVER feel the whole insert thing at ALL. That's why I started writing fics myself. If y'all not going to do it it's time to move my own ass.

So I feel you girl, we're in the same team.

(You)r “inclusivity” in fan fiction is still exclusive to white skinny women.

I don’t know if anyone else has noticed it, so I’m just gonna say it.

As a black woman, it sucks rarely being represented…in movies, tv-show, books (especially books because I love writing and that’s what I want to do with my life) etc, it just isn’t fun.

So, when I found the concept of fanfiction, especially K-POP fan fiction, where the protagonist is “You” I thought it’d be fun to picture myself as leading woman 🤷🏾‍♀️, ya know?

Boy, was I wrong…

Somewhere along the way, the concept of “You,” in this situation, me–whom as I stated earlier, a black woman–I developed long, silky hair I can throw over my shoulders, pale light skin, blue or green eyes, a petite frame, etc…

Now, I’m no rocket scientist, but I don’t think it’s a far fetched statement to say that most black women, or other ethnic groups of women, or women with larger frames, don’t look like this…

Somewhere along the way, fan fic writer’s definition of “inclusivity” became the “exclusive to white, skinny women” club. It became more and more clear to me, with each and every line, that the protagonist was meant to be/ relate to a white woman or a “white passing” woman, both groups my dark, black ass can’t and will never relate to 🙅🏾.

And honestly, it’s become the biggest “fuck you” that you can give me as your reader. Wanna know why? Cause if that’s the route that you, the writer, are gonna go, then you mine as well just pick a white, skinny protagonist, name her Becky, and get it all over and done with. At least then I know to not get my expectations up.

I understand that the point of making the protagonist “you” is to allow the reader to picture themselves as the apple of their leading partner’s eye, thus allowing the reader to develop a real and genuine role in the narrative. However, newflash, WE AREN’T DOING THAT ‼️ We’re perpetuating this fucked up westernized stigma that only white women are worthy of love, affection, and time. And, along the way, we’re inherently telling women of color/ larger women that they aren’t good enough. And it’s like, damn, we already get told we aren’t good enough in the real world. Can a girl catch a break in fairytale land?

And yep, that’s pretty much all I have to say about that.
