Traveling with Wriothesley: Day 9

"Good morning," Lumine greets Wriothesley while stretching her arms out.

"Morning," Wriothesley responds while dusting off his gauntlet. "How was your sleep?" He asked with a small smile across his face.

"It was very nice." Lumine smiled back, recalling how their evening went.

Last night, Wriothesley covered Lumine with his fur jacket, keeping her warm while she was asleep. The thought of it brought a warm feeling to Lumine's heart.

"What about you?" Lumine asked in return as she walked up to the Duke.

"It was nice for me too," Wriothesley replied, his voice calm as ever. "I'm just cleaning up my stuff, waiting for you to wake up." He spoke softly.

"I remember Sigewinne used to put stickers on your gauntlet." Lumine pointed out as she noticed what Wriothesley was doing.

Wriothesley chuckles at the mention of his Melusine friend. "Yeah, she and the other Melusines do that a lot."

"They're so cute and silly with their pranks." Lumine giggles, taking a seat near Wriothesley.

"Well, the thing is... she got a bad habit from me. Sigewinne started making bets on who gets to put the most stickers on my stuff." Wriothesley sighs.

"Pfft, you shouldn't gamble around children." Lumine playfully replies, teasing him for fun.

"Hey, I try to be a good role model." Wriothesley refutes, laughing with their companion.

"I know, I know~" Lumine giggles and walks off. "You'll be a good father if we ever have kids."

"Wha... what did you just say?" Surprised, Wriothesley's eyes went wide and approached the Traveler.

At that moment, his heart almost froze, in a good way that he couldn't explain.

"Ehehe, nothinggg!" Lumine dodges his question, wondering if her joke was too much. "Gotcha!" Suddenly, she placed a sticker on Wriothesley's face.

"So you did that just to catch me off-guard, eh? How sneaky." Wriothesley smirks and runs after Lumine, starting their day with laughter and silliness.

Later on, they embarked on their journey once more...

"Look at this fella. It must be cozy to sleep like that." Wriothesley said as he noticed a sleeping flying serpent.

Lumine walked up to him. "Agreed. They look sooo light."

"Haha, you are light too. I could easily lift you." Wriothesley chuckles, teasing Lumine with his remark.

"Wow, flexing your strength so early." Jokingly, Lumine pretends to be annoyed. "Well then, carry me from here, all the way to the main city of Sumeru."

"Sure." Wriothesley smirks, ready to take on Lumine's dare with confidence.

"I was just kidding!" Lumine pouted and laughed.

"I know, I was kidding too." Wriothesley chuckled at her reaction. "But I would carry you, just not that far. Or else, why don't you just bury me alive right here?" He crosses his arms as they continue their playful banter.

As the Duke looked away, he noticed a rogue Hilichurl from a distance.

"That guy's wandering around." Wriothesley pointed out, standing close to Lumine to keep her safe.

"That reminds me of Cater..." Lumine muttered as they stared at the creature.

"Who's that?" Wriothesley turned at Lumine, asking her curiously.

"You didn't know? He was in your prison." Lumine replied. "Cater, a small, white-haired boy with blackened hands."

"Oh, now that you said that... I do remember someone named Cater." Wriothesley rests his chin on his hand, recalling the inmate.

At that moment, Lumine tells the story about Cater and everything that happened in her adventure.

"Why didn't you report any of this to me? I would've made things easier for you and the kids." Wriothesley crosses his arms, raising his brow as he asks.

"I'm sorry, don't be mad. I just thought I could solve it all on my own and I did." Lumine smiles apologetically while waving her hands in front of her face.

The Duke sighs and closes his eyes. "I'm not mad. But from now on, I want you to trust me with everything." His voice sounded deeper than usual.

"Yes, I promise!" Lumine answers in a pleading tone of voice.

"Good," Wriothesley looks at his companion. "Now that I'm with you, you can rely on me." His gaze softens once more.

"But you said, that Cater guy was a hilichurl right?" Wriothesley asked once more.

Lumine nods. "Yes. Hilichurls were once human. They were... Khaenrian people, turned into monsters by a curse."

Wriothesley lets out a deep breath. "That's quite heavy to take in." He says, staring at a distant hilichurl camp. "Knowing they were once people, just like us."

"Yeah," Lumine replies. "But if they cause trouble, we have no other choice but to stop them."

Wriothesley nods in agreement. "Indeed."

"See that tornado?" Lumine points ahead of them. "That's our destination."

"What's in that place?" Wriothesley asked out of curiosity. "Isn't that dangerous?"

"Hehe, don't worry. We're going underneath it." She smiles, refusing to tell him more details about their next planned destination.

"Oh? Now I can't wait to see what's out there." Wriothesley grins, feeling the excitement rush through his veins.

Along the way, they encountered a Wenut.

"Ah! It's coming after me!" Lumine yelled out while trying to climb to a higher ground.

Wriothesley quickly grabs her hand, pulling her to safety.

"What is that thing?" Wriothesley asked while watching the creature move underneath the sand.

"It's a Wenut," Lumine answered. "Ah right, it's your first time seeing one."

"Wenut..? Sounds kinda cute if you ask me," Wriothesley scoffs, trying his best not to laugh out hard.

"Well, you're not wrong..." Lumine chuckles, finding his reaction quite cute.

Later on...

"I did tell you I'll take you to the giant ruin guards up close... so here we are." Lumine walked off, leading the way for the Duke.

"Damn, imagine if this big guy is actually alive." Wriothesley follows along, gazing at the ruin guard with awe.

"We'd have to run for our lives then, hehe." Lumine laughs as she pictures the situation in her head.

Together, they explored the ruins, following an underground pathway.

"What a beautiful light," Wriothesley muttered as he admired the glowing light inside the ruins.

"That's not all. Follow me." Lumine reaches out her hand to Wriothesley.

"Careful, you might slip and fall." Wriothesley worried as Lumine stood close to the edge of the platform.

"For you? Maybe I would." Lumine chuckles as she playfully answers.

"Haha, don't make jokes like that while I'm worrying for your safety." Wriothesley gently grabs Lumine's hand, pulling her back.

"Sorry~" Lumine sticks her tongue out while apologizing.

"Acting cute after pulling that stunt?" Wriothesley jokingly clicks his tongue and calmly shakes his head. "You're a cold one are you?"

"Hehe, it's not like I'm purely joking," Lumine responds and stands next to Wriothesley, knowing that he is just teasing her back.

"Haha! We'll see about that." Wriothesley finds himself amused, thinking that Lumine was still fooling around.

But at the same time, he too, is developing feelings far stronger than just plain friendship.

"Here we are, in the heart of the tornado, I guess?" Lumine spoke as they reached the center of the ruins.

"This place looks frozen in time with the neverending tornado around it," Wriothesley mutters, looking at the sky around them.

But their tour wasn't over yet.

The Traveler stands in the center, guiding Wriothesley to a very special place.

"Where are we going? It looks so different down here." Wriothesley asks, noticing the grass around them.

"You'll see, we're already almost there," Lumine replied enthusiastically while walking on.

As the two reached the exit, they were greeted by stunning scenery in front of them.

"Woah..." Wriothesley's mouth fell open, impressed by the otherworldly beauty of the place. "Is everything... frozen in time?"

"Yes. This is the Orchard of Pairidaeza, also known as the Eternal Oasis." Lumine tells Wriothesley the name of the place while glancing at him.

"This is blowing my mind." Wriothesley walks off, his eyes exploring every corner of the timeless realm they were in.

Lumine steps foot onto the water and looks back at the Duke, inviting him to join.

"Damn, you can even walk on water?" Wriothesley smiled, impressed by what he just witnessed. He follows her, walking across the lake that was frozen in time.

"Look, even the fish aren't moving," Lumine said as they passed by some fish stuck midair.

"Cats are gonna love this place." Wriothesley chuckles at his own thoughts. "So how did time stand still... what's going on?" Out of curiosity, Wriothesley asked Lumine while they stood together.

"King Deshret built this place as a cemetery for the fallen Goddess of Flowers. It's meant to keep her memory, that one single moment... for all eternity." While answering the Duke's question, Lumine walked towards the grass.

"That sounds... bittersweet." Wriothesley replied, his voice was lower than usual, almost like a whisper. He stares at the ground as if taking in the history of the place.

"Yeah, King Deshret truly loved the Goddess of Flowers," Lumine replies in the same tone, sharing the Duke's feelings about the Eternal Oasis.

The two of them sat on the chairs in front of them.

"This is where the 3 gods of Sumeru used to gather." The Traveler continued their story, telling Wriothesley everything they knew.

"How impressive. This place holds a lot of precious memories." Wriothesley muttered while gazing at the flowers around them. "It's almost like it's okay to stay here forever, with you."

His words brought a smile to Lumine''s face. "That sounds nice..." Her eyes sparked with joy as she replied. "I feel the same way."

Note: Sorry I wrote this half-awake so it's tad bit messy... also after some debating, I've decided to just write Lumine instead of the "Traveler" all the time. It was getting tiring, even though I wanted to make it more gender-neutral for an easier self-insert experience ;-; sorry and I hope you don't mind. I will edit out the earlier chapters to fix it too.

Traveling with Wriothesley: Day 8

"Careful now, don't slip through these slopes." Wriothesley reminds the Traveler as they walk through the sand.

"Yes, yes." The Traveler nods, reassuring the Duke. "There are a lot of hilichurls around here." They noted, glancing at the nearby camp of the said creatures.

Wriothesley agrees, following the Traveler's gaze. "Yeah, I've never seen this many hilichurls before. I'm more used to seeing a group of thieves and other gangs in Fontaine." He points out the difference while observing the monsters.

"Some of them will ignore us though." The Traveler says while walking ahead of Wriothesley.

The Duke replies, "Good. I won't need to use my fists then."

As they descended to the lower area of the desert, the Traveler took this opportunity to grab some clean water.

"Let me know if you need a drink. Or... do you just cool yourself off with your vision?" The Traveler asks while glancing at their companion.

"Hey, our power isn't limitless." Wriothesley shrugs, pointing out an obvious fact. "That said, I am a bit thirsty." He takes the bottle from the Traveler and drinks from it, not minding if they drink from the same container.

"Check out these flowers. Are they edible?" Wriothesley asks, his curiosity at work.

"I think you can use them for cooking?" Uncertain, the Traveler shrugged. "They're called 'Mourning Flower' though."

"Well, that sounds sad." Wriothesley shrugged and stared at the reddish flower in front of them.

The Traveler crosses their arms, "It's said they're mourning the fallen heroes from the past." They explained the meaning behind the flower's name.

"Hmm, I see. That makes sense." Wriothesley listens, paying attention to every word the Traveler says. "What about the flowers on your hair?" Suddenly, he pointed out.

The Traveler's eyes widened in surprise, but they quickly went back to normal.

"Oh, these flowers are called Inteyvat, the national flower for Khaenriah." With a soft voice, the Traveler explained.

"Khaenriah? How did you even get a flower from there?" Curious, Wriothesley asked further.

"My twin brother left them on my hair before I woke up in this world." The Traveler's gaze falls to the ground, staring at their reflection on the water. "I vaguely remember a voice saying they won't forget how much I loved these flowers."

Wriothesley notices the change in their companion's mood, falling silent to listen earnestly.

"Apparently, this flower symbolizes a traveler far away from their home." Smiling bitterly, the Traveler added and gently caressed the flower on their hair.

Staring intently, Wriothesley was still silently waiting for the Traveler to speak.

They turned around, facing the Duke, "What's with the serious look?" The Traveler asked with an awkward smile.

"Nothing," Wriothesley shut his eyes and looked away. "I was just thinking about how I can find another Inteyvat flower for you." He smirks, trying to lift up the mood.

The Traveler holds back their laughter. "Silly, how are you even going to do that?" They asked with a cheerful tone.

Wriothesley shrugs. "No idea, go back in time and visit Khaenriah maybe? I'll grab some seed and come back quickly." He continues his absurd idea, making the Traveler laugh.

"Maybe I'll even plant a garden for you. Who knows? Just give me some tea in return." He added.

"Oh, stop it!" The Traveler keeps laughing, their smile bringing joy to Wriothesley's heart.

Moments later, they were distracted by a huge tent tortoise on the other side of the water.

"Look, it's approaching us..." Wriothesley pointed out, smiling in awe of the animal's size.

"These guys are so cute." The Traveler smiled as they both observed the tortoise.

Soon after that, they moved forward and spotted a fishing spot.

"I'm quite good at fishing, you know." The Traveler proudly shared and whipped out their fishing rod.

"Oh, really? Well then, I'll be waiting for today's lunch from you then." Wriothesley felt intrigued and decided to challenge the Traveler for fun.

"Hey! Don't let me do all the work. Fish too." The Traveler pouted, protesting against Wriothesley's idea in a light-hearted tone.

"And here I thought I could slack off." Wriothesley laughs and walked into the distance. "I'm not going to fish though. Let's have some crocodile meat today." He stretches out his arms, preparing to hunt on his own.

Watching his dear traveler catching some fish.

"There's a lot of Fatui camps here too, it seems." Wriothesley pointed out as they reached an abandoned Fatui tent.

The Traveler nods in agreement, "Yeah. There's a lot of places here that they want to research, after all."

"Well, if they cause trouble I'll have them sent all the way to Meropide." Wriothesley says while twirling his handcuffs along his fingers.

"Hehe, they did help out a lot during the flood though." The Traveler smiles, remembering the House of Hearth's deeds during the Fontaine crisis.

"Yeah," Wriothesley nodded in agreement. "There's always the good ones and the bad ones, no matter where you're from."

"See that thing in the sky? That's a pyramid. It used to be cooler back then, though." The Traveler pointed out at the silhouette in the sky.

"That still looks cool to me." Wriothesley raised a brow, wondering what the Traveler meant.

To save time from explaining, they showed a photo to Wriothesley.

"It used to glow like that." The Traveler said.

"Ah, now I get what you mean." Wriothesley replies. "Still, looks much safer now though." He shrugs as he walks up to their tent.

"Hehe, I know." The Traveler agrees and follows his trail.

"Well, this is the only unoccupied tent. Are you alright with this?" The Traveler asked Wriothesley as they stood next to each other.

"I'm not one to complain. As long as I can eat and sleep in peace, that's all that matters." Wriothesley reassures their companion.

"It's gonna be cramped but we'll manage." The Traveler smiles, looking forward to another evening out in the wild.

"Ha, you can cling on to me if you want. It gets cold at night in the desert." Wriothesley jokingly suggests, smirking at the Traveler.

"Maybe you're saying that cause you just want to steal my warmth." The Traveler plays along, grinning in response.

Traveling with Wriothesley: Day 7

"That's a breathtaking view," Wriothesley commented, feasting his eyes upon the lovely pink trees amidst the desert.

The Traveler smiles proudly, "Right? It used to be a lifeless wasteland though." They revealed, looking back to one of their previous adventures.

Wriothesley looks at them, his eyes laced with curiosity. "Oh, really? How so?" He inquires, eager to find out the Traveler's story.

"Well, those trees that you see? They used to be crystallized back then," The Traveler points at a distance. "So it was all dark and grey... plus, there was an ominous purple portal on the ground."

[How it used to look in the past...]

"But after helping out Sorush and the other Pari, we restored this place back to what you see right now." The Traveler continued their story, recounting their experience with a warm feeling in their heart.

Wriothesley looks at the Traveler, seemingly in awe, "Wow. You're a hero indeed." He praises his companion for their hard work. "Everywhere you go, you leave behind something wonderful."

The Traveler blushes and looks away, "Thank you, I just did... what I had to. And what I thought was the right thing at the moment." With a soft voice, they replied.

The Duke chuckles, admiring the Traveler, "But I hope you're not planning to leave me behind too someday." He jokingly says.

Quickly, the Traveler looks at him with a frown. "I would never do such thing!" They protested and pouted.

"Oh look, there's a Pari over there." Changing the topic, Wriothesley pointed out as he noticed Jarjar, one of the Pari in the area.

"Ah, that's Jarjar." The Traveler walks up to the Pari, leading the way for Wriothesley. "Hello, friend. It's been a while." With a smile, they greeted the Avian creature.

"Oh, it's you Traveler. Do you want to play games with me again?" Jarjar, the Pari asked. "Wait, who...?" The Pari takes notice of Wriothesley, looking at the Traveler with questioning eyes.

"This is Wriothesley, my traveling partner." The Traveler introduces with a joyful tone.

"Hello there." Wriothesley waves at the Pari, keeping his cool composure.

"Partners! How wonderful. Jarjar can prepare a game for you two to enjoy." The Pari excitedly flew around.

Wriothesley looks at their partner, wondering what kind of game the Pari is talking about.

"Jarjar likes to play race games. It was fun to complete his challenges." The Traveler giggles while sharing their experience with the Duke.

"Racing, huh? Well, I'll be looking forward to that." Wriothesley crosses his arms and nods with a smirk.

"Come to think of it, Jarjar kinda looks like you." Wriothesley said while they watched the Pari fly away.

"Eh?" The Traveler blinks, they didn't expect such comment from the Duke.

"Well, your hair is light like their body. Plus, you have the same eye color." Wriothesley stares at their partner while explaining his idea. "Only yours look lovelier to me, of course." He smiles as he compliments the Traveler.

As their heart skipped a beat, the Traveler couldn't help but look away once more. "Geez, that was unexpected." Wriothesley laughs, he knew he would get this type of answer. "I adore your eyes as much as you adore mine, hmph!" Playfully, the Traveler complimented him in return.

"What's this glowing piece of wood?" Wriothesley asked as they continued walking around the Gavireh Lajavard.

"That's a Fravashi tree. Spirits of old Pari used to lay here." The Traveler explains the mystical aura around the place. "I've put them all to rest so they can go in peace."

Wriothesley feels a sense of peace as the Traveler tells him the story behind the tree. "That sounds like a good ending."

As they continue walking around...

"You're telling me... we'll jump down into this thing?" Wriothesley asked, looking down at the glowing entrance.

The Traveler nods. "Are you scared?" They jokingly asked.

"Absolutely..." Wriothesley slowly moves his hand towards the Traveler. "...not!" Without warning, he grabs them and jumps towards the hole.

Together, they both fell into the glowing entrance. And before they knew it, a bright light blinded them for a moment.

The next thing they know, they've been transported to a whole new place.

"Where are we?" Wriothesley asked while looking around.

"We're at the Gaokerena. This giant lotus flower... is where the last Dendro archon kept Egeria's consciousness." The Traveler tells Wriothesley yet another story about the world's history.

Slowly, the Traveler walks away, creating distance between them and the Duke.

"This is where the divine bird, Simurgh, drank Egeria's fluids - causing the creation of the Pari race." The Traveler glances back at Wriothesley and reaches their hand out.

Wriothesley takes a moment before stepping forward. He was admiring the Traveler's beauty from a distance.

"Egeria sure had a lot of ties with this place in Sumeru." Wriothesley replies, finally moving forward.

The Traveler nods in agreement. "Yeah," They smiled as the Duke stood next to them. "Beautiful place though, right?"

Wriothesley smiles back, "Indeed."

Traveling with Wriothesley: Day 6

"Shall we set up camp here for the night?" The Traveler suggests, settling in at a familiar spot by the riverbank.

Wriothesley nods in agreement. "Sure," He walks up behind his companion, surveying their surroundings. "It looks like someone used to stay here."

"Yes, a friend named Julien used to set up camp here. He's from Fontaine too." The Traveler explained, sharing another story with Wriothesley. "Look, he left behind a painting."

"Wow, that looks great. Must be a very skilled painter." Wriothesley praises the painting, admiring the colors and the brush strokes.

The Traveler smiles, feeling proud of their own friend. "I'm so glad he moved forward, along with Pepper, his dog."

"Ohh, traveling with their dog, I see." Wriothesley listens on, enjoying every story the Traveler shares with him. "In a sense, you're traveling with a dog too, see?" He pulls up a part of his hair, making his "dog-like" ears more noticeable.

The Traveler couldn't help but laugh, adoring the Duke's actions.

The next morning...

"Morning," Wriothesley greeted the Traveler. He had just finished taking a dip by the riverbank and was in the middle of putting his shirt on.

"Good morn-" The Traveler's yawn was interrupted the moment they noticed Wriothesley's bare tummy. "Oh, did you just wash yourself?" They asked while looking away.

Wriothesley notices the flustered look on their face and smirks. "Yeah. You should too, I'll keep watch." He suggests as he finishes putting his clothes back on.

"Ehm, thanks. Did you sleep though?" The Traveler asks before taking their turn to wash themselves up.

Wriothesley nods, "Yes, don't worry." He smiles, reassuring their companion.

After a while, they both had their breakfast and sat down together for a moment.

"Have you ever seen a ruin guard up close?" The Traveler asked as an idea popped inside their head.

"Not really," Wriothesley shook his head. "Are they any different from our mekas in Fontaine?" He shrugged, asking out of curiosity.

"Well, it's best if you find out yourself." The Traveler gets up, leading the way for Wriothesley.

Eventually, they found their way inside a cave. It was one of the paths the Traveler took during their time with Sorush.

"Woah, didn't expect the inside of a ruin guard to be like this." Wriothesley looked around in amazement.

"Yeah, it's all full of sand now though. Nothing but a mess." The Traveler replies. "There's another giant ruin guard in the desert... I'll show you that one next."

"Hahaha, sure. Lead the way, boss." Wriothesley chuckles, enjoying the Traveler's enthusiasm.

As they walked deeper into the cave...

"Damn, what is that huge gate up there?" Wriothesley asked as they reached an opening, revealing an ominous-looking passage.

"They say that gate takes you to Khaenriah. It's where Dain, I mean Dainsleif, escaped through when the Abyss attacked them." The Traveler explains the story to Wriothesley.

"Khaenriah... Dainsleif... Abyss? That's a lot to take in." Wriothesley glances at his companion, waiting for them to elaborate.

"Yeah, sorry," The Traveler smiled apologetically. "First of all, Dain was my twin's companion. Somehow, they traveled this world together... long before the incident with Khaenriah."

"Well... let's just say Dain isn't on good terms with them." The Traveler, knowing that the full story is hard to explain, decides to shorten it up for Wriothesley.

Wriothesley nods as he listens. "You and your twin must've gone through a lot. I can't wait to meet them someday." He spoke with a deep voice, showing his sincerity.

"I'm excited to introduce you to my twin as well," The Traveler smiles, finding hope in the Duke's words.

Traveling with Wriothesley: Day 5

"So here we are at last, standing in front of that big tree." Wriothesley placed one hand on his hip, taking in the view right before their eyes. "It wasn't much of a walk." The traveler replied, wearing a casual smile on their face. Wriothesley chuckles, admiring the traveler's stamina. "Of course. Though, I'm still getting used to the feeling of walking through the sand." "Hehe, need me to carry you, oh Your Grace?" The traveler jokes around with a mischievous grin. Wriothesley plays along, mimicking their expression. "Ha, can you? Oh carry me, almighty traveler." Together, they laughed - enjoying their classic banter. After a moment of laughter, they paused to look at the view once more. "It's so beautiful... isn't it? To think that a god's remains... could leave behind such beauty." The traveler says while looking up at the tree. Wriothesley glances at the traveler, locking his eyes on them. "...Yeah, beautiful indeed."

"Here is where the previous hydro archon, Egeria, passed away." The traveler guided Wriothesley through the path leading to Amrita Pool. The Duke looks around, adoring the flowers around the scenery. "It looks so peaceful in here. And wait, is that a fairy?" Distracted by the Pari relaxing by the water, Wriothesley asked. "Hahah, no, silly. But I guess they are like fairies in a way?" The Traveler giggled, adoring Wriothesley's curiosity. "They're Pari, the creatures I told you about. It's said they're a race descending from the Divine bird, Simurgh." "Ah, I see. So they're like, hmm... Sigewinne? The Melusines came from Elynas, the dragon, right?" Wriothesley asks further, taking in the information he just learned. The traveler nods, "Yep! Kinda like that. Well, they're both a cute race, aren't they?" The traveler giggled as they beamed at the sight of the Pari. Wriothesley chuckles softly, "I suppose you're right." They focus their attention back to the Amrita pool, where Egeria rests. "I can't believe I'm standing right here... in front of our creator's resting place," Wriothesley recalls the truth about Egeria's sin - the creation of Fontaine citizens. "That's if I'm actually Fontainian." He shrugs, considering that he is an orphan, unsure of his origins. "Well, you grew up in Fontaine. You can consider her your creator... in some way." The traveler answered. "Let's wish her peace and whisper our wishes..." Wriothesley nods in agreement, both closing their eyes in silence. Paying their respect to the fallen hydro archon, Egeria.

After visiting Egeria's resting place, the two are back on track, walking through the vast land of Sumerian deserts. On their way to their next destination...

"Wait, look at our shadows! So cute." The traveler pointed out, smiling at their figures. Wriothesley nods with a smile. "You're so small. I could probably fit you in my jacket." "Hey! I'm not some pet." The traveler pouted, keeping their mood lighthearted. "Ugh, more sand in my boots," Wriothesley said as he stopped walking to shake off his leg, trying to get some sand out of his clothes. "Hehe, I did warn you about that." The traveler shrugs as they watch Wriothesley's reaction. "I have an idea. Why don't you dress like the Eremites? Their style would suit you too, I think." Wriothesley is familiar with Eremites and knows how they dress. A lightbulb pops above his head, giving him a playful thought. "Oh? You wanna see me barely covered, huh?" The Duke smirks, teasing the traveler. The thought didn't even cross their mind, but the realization made them blush. "That wasn't my intention at all!" Feeling flustered, the traveler protested. "Hahaha! How cute." Wriothesley chuckles, enjoying their companion's reaction. "But really, I dig that idea. Would be better if you pair up with me though. The Eremite style would also look good on you."

Traveling with Wriothesley: Day 4

"You know, I can't help but look at that giant tree. Just how many gigantic trees are there in Sumeru?" Wriothesley asked the Traveler, walking through the endless sand.

"Hehe, too many to count actually." The traveler smiled and stopped walking, looking up at the giant tree before them. "That is where the previous archon, Lady Egeria rests. That giant blue tree are part of her remains." The traveler explains.

"Wait, for real? You know, I've never been one to read history, but damn. That's awesome." Wriothesley was so impressed, you could see the way his eyes widened in surprise.

The traveler nods and continues their story. "Yeah, she died here during a battle. I wanted to take you to Amrita pool, where her body is said to rest. Maybe introduce you to my Pari friends as well." The traveler looks around, searching for signs of Pari nearby.

"Pari? What's that? Sounds like a fairy." Wriothesley's curiosity grows, he asks one question after another.

"Hehe, you'll find out when I meet Sorush again. She's a real mouthy fella." The traveler giggles in excitement, eager to see Wriothesley's reaction as they continue their travel in the deserts of Sumeru.

"Here, I had to play the drums to perform a ritual. Well, it was all for the sake of helping the Pari close the hole in the sky." The traveler explains more about their journey. "Drums? I'd like to see you play that." Curious and intrigued, Wriothesley raised a brow and smirked, imagining the traveler playing a drum. "And, a hole in the sky, you said? Just what kind of world crisis do you go through all the time?" With a mix of awe and shock, Wriothesley asked. "Well... I'm a traveler. Solving problems also gets me food to keep going." The traveler shrugs. "And why the sudden desire to watch me play drums?" They pout to tease the Duke. "Hahaha, why not? It's just you and me. Other than our voices, it would be nice to listen to music once in a while." Wriothesley playfully replies and walks off to another spot. The traveler follows along, still pouting to keep up with their banter. "What, are you already getting tired of my voice?" Wriothesley turned around, facing the traveler. "I did not say that," He raised a brow and crossed his arms. "You can talk all day and I wouldn't get tired of it, you know?" He started explaining himself. Amused by the Duke's refute, the traveler couldn't help but smile.

"Well, it's been a long day. What do you say we set up camp?" Wriothesley suggests as daylight slowly fades away. The traveler nods in agreement, following Wriothesley to a clear area. Together, they set up their camp and put up their light for the night. "It's our first night being out in the world," The traveler stretched out their arms and spoke with affection in their voice. "What do you think about it so far?" They asked, looking into Wriothesley's eyes. Wriothesley grins, his eyes beaming with joy. "All I can think about is how much I'm enjoying all of this." He nods while explaining his emotions. "This is something I never thought I would do, being the Duke and all." "Hehe, well you're not the only one enjoying this. I'm having a great time being with you." The traveler shared the same sentiments, filling the air with warmth. Slowly, they are building more respect for one another. Their trust and bond growing stronger day by day. "That's good. I would be a failure as a companion if I'm not entertaining you." Jokingly, the Duke replied. "Ah, honestly, this is too good to be true. That sometimes I worry that I'll wake up to find out it's all just a dream." Wriothesley looks up to the sky, voicing out his thoughts. The traveler fell silent for a moment, taking in the weight of the Duke's words. "If this is all just a dream, I never want to wake up then." The traveler answered with a gentle tone of voice. Somehow, their words brought relief to Wriothesley's heart.

Traveling with Wriothesley: Day 3

"So, ready for another long trip today?" Wriothesley asked the Traveler with a grin on his face.

The Traveler nods with excitement in their eyes. "Absolutely."

Together, they rode the Clementine Line Aquabus, sailing towards the Romaritime Harbor.

Even though both of them were silent, they would glance at each other once in a while, smiling while they enjoyed the scenery during their ride.

As time flew by, Wriothesley noticed their companion dozing off in their seat.

Worried, he scoots closer, lending his shoulder for their friend to rest on.

"Still sleepy, aren't you? It's fine, you can rest on my shoulder for a while." With a gentle tone, the Duke spoke to the traveler.

"Oh, sorry about that, you don't really have to-" The traveler tries to resist, but is cut off by Wriothesley.

"You would do the same for me if I were tired or sleepy right?" The Duke asked, his eyes locked on the traveler.

The traveler smiles awkwardly, realizing that Wriothesley has a point. "Fine, just a few minutes then..."

Wriothesley chuckles, enjoying his victory. "Good girl. I'll wake you up when we're near."

As they got closer to their destination, Wriothesley gently poked the traveler's cheek. "Hey," He called out softly. "We're almost there." The Duke whispered. Hearing his voice, the traveler wakes up and gazes at the distant harbor. Both of them quickly noticing the gigantic glowing tree amidst the vast desert of Sumeru. "I can see the desert from here. Looks like we'll have to brace ourselves for some heat, huh?" Wriothesley speaks as he stands up from his seat, admiring the view ahead of them. The Traveler stands next to him, mimicking his action. "Yes. If Fontaine is full of water, Sumeru is full of sand." Wriothesley doesn't respond, but in his heart, he could feel his excitement grow.

As they descended from the Aqua Bus and toured the Romaritime Harbor, the Traveler points at the spot where they once faced Lady Furina, the archon herself. "I was welcomed here. Lady Furina was expecting my arrival." The Traveler shared their story. Wriothesley crosses his arms and gazes at their companion, "Damn, you sure are a big shot. You're a world-famous traveler... and I'm just a small-time Duke of an underwater prison." His tone was light-hearted, making the traveler laugh. "Geez, no need to compare. Things just happened." The traveler shrugged, remaining humble. "You're still amazing as you are, Wriothesley." They faced the Duke, speaking with sincerity in their eyes. "Haha, how I feel honored by that." Wriothesley chuckled, touched by the traveler's praise. They walked forward, waiting for their next boat to cross the ocean, all the way to the desert. "I met Lyney and Lynette here too." The traveler pointed out, sharing more of their memories with Wriothesley. "Lucky them, meeting you as soon as you arrived here." Wriothesley playfully replied. "But not as lucky as me, since I'm the one you chose as your companion." He laughs once more, clearly having a good time with the traveler. The traveler couldn't help but smile at his words. "I don't think I would've picked anyone else."

Traveling with Wriothesley Day 2: Part Two

#TravelingwithWrio Day 2: Part Two Left alone in their separate rooms, Wriothesley sat on his bed and took a deep breath. For the first time, he's traveling with someone he considers a close companion, someone he can trust. He smiles as a sense of peace fills his heart...

The next morning, he met the traveler downstairs for breakfast. 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆: Morning, slept well? 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫: Good morning, yep, I did. How about you? 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆: Haha, I slept alright too. 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫: Glad to know. I'm excited about our adventures today. 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆: Is that so? Well, I guess, so am I. 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫: Any place in particular that you'd like to visit? The Duke pauses for a moment, thinking deeply. 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆: Hmm... how about the Fleuve Cendre?

𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫: Sure, I'll go wherever you want, hehe. 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆: Ohh, what a loyal pet you are. 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫: Stop teasing me.............. 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆: Hahaha! How can I not? When you react like this. The traveler pouts, finding their lighthearted banter a good way to start their morning.

Later on, they headed out to visit the underground location - by the sewers. 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆: I hope you don't mind coming all the way here. 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫: Why would I? It's no biggie~ 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆: Haha, right. I did lock you up in the Fortress of Meropide for a few days. What's a little sewer gonna do to you? 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫: Hehe, I'm tougher than I look.

Together, they ventured into the sewers, eventually reaching where Navia once invited the Traveler to visit. 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫: Spina Di Rosula offered me a place to stay here. They're so nice. 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆: Oh, not surprised. They're generous when it comes to those in need. I knew their president, the late Mr. Callas. 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫: Woah, that's really cool. Wait, how old are you even?! 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆: Heh, take a guess.

𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫: Never mind... I'm still probably way older than you. 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆: You didn't even bother guessing at least once. Wait, what did you just say?

𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫: Nothing~ oh, is there a reason why you wanted to come here? Wriothesley shook his head in response. 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆: Nope. Just wanted to reminiscence a little before we leave. You see, when I was homeless... the sewers became my refuge. 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫: Oh... I understand. This place holds some memories for you huh. 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆: Yeah, this is where I began learning how to hustle. Also where I started trading stuff to build my gauntlet. 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫: I'm so amazed by how far you've come. 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆: Well, I'm not stopping anytime soon. So come on, we've got places to travel to. The Duke offered his hand, escorting the traveler out of the sewers. Bidding farewell to his childhood place once more.

Traveling with Wriothesley: Day 2, Part One

#TravelingwithWrio Day 2: Part One Upon arriving at the main city of Fontaine, where the Palais Mermonia is located... Wriothesley and the Traveler walked around to enjoy the surroundings. As expected, a lot of eyes were on them.

𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫: So many Melusines patrolling the city. They're so admirable but also cute. 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆: Right? Oh, Sigewinne's going to miss me. 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫: Hehe, she would. We should come back soon in between our travels. 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆: Eh, don't rush it. Let's take our time, you know, like a prison sentence. 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫: That's not a good comparison! 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆: Hahaha! The look on your face is priceless. "Should we visit Monsieur Neuvilette before we leave the city?" The traveler asked, trying not to pay any mind to the crowd observing them.

Wriothesley chuckles at their suggestion, shaking his head, "It's unnecessary." The Duke stated. "I've already put in the notice that I'm going away on an indefinite leave. I left the Fortress in the hands of my trustworthy agents." The traveler smiled as they felt reassured. "Looks like you really prepared for our trip, huh?" "Of course." The Duke nodded, "But I'm not irresponsible enough to leave without warning. After all, the Fortress has become... my home." Wriothesley spoke, his sharp eyes softening at the mention of the word 'home.' The traveler gazes at him with affection in their eyes. "I understand. I really appreciate you joining me on my journey." Wriothesley gives them a light pat on the back. "Don't think too much about it. It's not like I never leave the Fortress." He smiles, "It's nice to be out once in a while. Especially with someone to spend time with, right?"

"Hehe, absolutely." The traveler agrees and walks on. "Everyone seems to be staring at you." "Eh, don't mind them." Wriothesley shrugged, he's already used to stealing away everyone's attention. The traveler chuckles at his reaction. "Well, can't blame them. It's not every day you get to see the mysterious Duke." "Too bad for them," Wriothesley playfully replies. "But good for you, you'll see me every day from now on." He laughed, bringing warmth to the traveler's heart.

𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫: They're so pretty. I heard from Lynette that their outfits come from here.

𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆: Oh, really? Must be nice to dress all fancy.

𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫: Look at you talking, you look fancy to me.

𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆: *shrugs* Well, I'm the Duke. Gotta dress the part, at least, right?

#TravelingwithWrio Day 1 Part 2:

Quietly, the Duke walks out of Opera Epiclese with the Traveler. When they stepped outside, he took a deep breath before facing his companion.

"Nice weather today, isn't it?" Wriothesley prompted. "The day of my trial, it was raining. Funny, it was my birthday too at that time." He looks away, turning his gaze towards the empty streets.

"From now on, we'll celebrate your birthdays together. It won't be dark and gloomy ever again." The traveler spoke gently, gandering at the Duke's handsome face.

The corners of Wriothesley's lips curved into a smile, "I'll hold onto you with that promise," He winked playfully and walked forward.

Together, they stood before the Fountain of Lucine.

"They say all the water in the world comes back right here, in this place." Wriothesley observed the everlasting fountain. "Sounds kinda cheesy, but hey, at least they return right where they came from." He shrugged and faced the traveler.

"Have you ever thought about going back to where you came from...?" The traveler asked with eyes laced by curiosity.

Wriothesley shook his head. "No," firmly, he replied. "I am fine right where I am now." He continued, gazing intensely into the traveler's golden eyes.

The traveler smiles, a sense of relief washing away their worries. In a way, they're just like Wriothesley — both used to have a "place" to return to... But found a better place to call their "home."

Continuing their tour around Opera Epiclese...

𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫: Oh, there's a lot of rainbow roses around here.

𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆: Yep, these flowers are quite common here and well, popular.

𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫: I thought so... Lyney gave me one back then.

Their comment seemed to pique the Duke's interest.

𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆: Oh really? That little guy did? Huh, sly man.

The traveler narrows their eyes at Wriothesley's playful remark, making the Duke laugh.

𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆: Hey chill, I didn't mean anything bad about that.

He reassures his companion, putting on a gentle smile to keep the mood light.

"It's a shame that we can't grow flowers in the Fortress. But hey, that makes the sight of flowers more precious, doesn't it?" Wriothesley prompted while gazing at the rainbow roses growing around the Opera.

The traveler nods in agreement. "Sometimes people appreciate things more when they don't always have them."

Wriothesley sighs and looks up to the sky. "Well, it's about time we start being grateful for whatever we have. Too bad not everyone realizes that."

"Unfortunately........" The traveler sighed with him. "But I agree. And I'm grateful for every day of my life." They smiled at Wriothesley, brightening up the mood.

Wriothesley walks on, urging the traveler to follow.

𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫: Look at these two dancing mechas.

Wriothesley turns his gaze at the wide open stage, observing the way two mechas danced under the moonlight.

𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆: Elegant, isn't it? I imagine they're made just for Lady Furina's aesthetics.

The traveler suddenly grabs Wriothesley by his arm, pulling him onto the stage. The Duke resists out of confusion, wondering what his companion is up to.

𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆: What are you doing?

𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫: Let's dance with them, come on.

With a bright smile on their face, the traveler asked Wriothesley, who seemed perplexed.

𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆: Woah, I don't really know how to.

The traveler jokingly pouts and decides to insist.

𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫: Just hold my hand like this... and put your hand around my waist, like that.

As they guided Wriothesley's hands, the Duke stood still, trying to keep up with the traveler's instructions. Together, they danced.

Though they started out of sync, Wriothesley was quick to learn. He observed the way the mechas danced and copied their movements, impressing his companion.

𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆: Huh, that was surprisingly easier than I thought.

The Duke laughs, filling the traveler's heart with joy. Seeing him have a good time was all they ever asked for.

𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫: See? It's fun, right? I'm glad we tried this out, right before we take the Aquabus.

Without warning, Wriothesley took the lead in their dance. He pulled the traveler close by grabbing their waist and lowered their body to the ground, an elegant finishing act.

Surprised, the traveler's heart beats faster. They locked eyes with Wriothesley, who was smirking at them, enjoying the way he caught the traveler off guard.

𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆: Oops, looks like Mr. Magician isn't the only man with tricks up his sleeves.

The Duke's words made the traveler smile, it was something they didn't expect. But nevertheless, it was a pleasant surprise.

Wriothesley helps the traveler get back on their feet, while the two mechas bowed before them. And that was the end of their quick dancing session before leaving Opera Epiclese.

"Look at these flowers! They're shaped like hearts." The traveler pointed at the lumidouce bells, admiring their form. Wriothesley follows them around, as if he's the one touring them. "Wow, you're right." Wriothesley nodded in agreement, impressed by the traveler's observation skills. "Guess you notice everything as an adventurer, huh? You'll be a great help to me if you work in the Fortress." He laughed as the thought came to his mind. The traveler chuckles at his idea. "I don't mind that, working for you sounds fun." They responded with a cheery tone. "Quick, let's take a photo in front of this heart-shaped flower." Without warning, the traveler took out their camera and snapped a photo with the Duke.

Eventually, it was time for them to leave the Opera. As they strolled leisurely all the way to the Aquabus station...

Wriothesley carefully takes the traveler's hand, helping them step onto the Aquabus. "Careful now, if you fall into the water I'd have to freeze you dry." The Duke jokingly said. "Well I would pull you down with me." The traveler returned the playful attitude and got onto the bus. Together, they gazed back at the Opera Epiclese. They sat in silence, adoring the scenery around them. All while the cool breeze of Fontaine mountains danced around them

Traveling with Wriothesley: Day 1

"It's been a while since I came to the surface," Wriothesley said, his voice mixed with forlorn and solace.

"Does it bother you to be here?" The traveler asked while glancing at the Duke.

The man in black simply chuckles, amused by the inquiry. "Not at all," He shook his head. "I'm looking forward to traveling with you." Wriothesley nodded with a small smile, reassuring his new companion.

"It'll be a new journey ahead but it will be fun, even more now that you're with me." The traveler returned his smile, sharing a moment of mutual trust and affection.

"Oh, this little guy?" Wriothesley stopped and pointed at the otter when the traveler noticed it. "He's always hanging out there. Hah, probably curious about our affairs inside the Fortress." The traveler giggles sweetly, finding the whole situation cute. "It kinda looks like the Iudex, doesn't it?" The traveler suggested. Wriothesley laughs, finding the suggestion hilarious. "You're right. Ah, can't believe our chief of justice is just some otter in the sea." Traveler and Wriothesley kept watching the otter, sharing laughter together while waiting for their boat to arrive.

Together, they walked through the pathway leading to the Opera Epiclese. There was silence between them, but not the kind that felt awkward or uncomfortable.

As they reached the entrance of the Opera, Wriothesley stopped and turned to the traveler.

"I missed watching performances here." He admitted. But despite the longing in his words, his voice was calm as ever.

"Why don't we go in? No trial or performance is going on." The traveler offered and led the way inside.

As they stepped in, they both took a moment to admire the pristine structure, the way each corner gleamed with beauty.

"It's still the same, just like the day of my trial," Wriothesley spoke and walked ahead, letting the traveler follow his trail.

As they stood together before the Oratrice, Wriothesley pointed at the podium where he once stood.

"That's where I was questioned and sentenced guilty." He took a deep breath before continuing. "It wasn't a long trial. I quickly admitted everything, after all, what's there to hide?" Wriothesley said with a soft tone in his voice.

The traveler listens intently, staring at the stage before them.

"Lady Furina was even disappointed at how boring my trial was. Ah, how bad I felt to bring dismay to the former archon herself." Wriothesley shook his head as he grinned, finding the thought silly.

"I'm sorry... for all that you went through. No child deserves that." The traveler frowned, showing their concern for Wriothesley.

The Duke faces their way and pats their head. "Sorry for what? It's all in the past now, don't look so down." He chuckled, trying to lift the mood.

"All the things that happened before, led me here today. And now I am standing here, with you."

Wriothesley spoke with a radiant look in his eyes, showing his strength as a person who found his new place in life.

He regrets nothing. That's the kind of person he is. And that makes him even more admirable in the traveler's eyes.
