Rewatching The Rapture and this episode really does illustrate how brilliant Misha Collins's acting is. Because Cas as a character by nature has a stiff delivery and doesn't quite know how to process all his emotions, yet Misha in S4 radiates the emerging strong emotion and feelings of Cas, as well as how uncanny Cas is, all at once, but he has to maintain a stylized performance for that. The contrast to the naturalistic style for Jimmy Novak is Misha putting his emotional range on full blast. While Cas is Misha demonstrating his control as an actor, his ability to completely vanish into a role. The Rapture really is a stunning performance from Misha, as he switches from Cas to Jimmy and back again. It's practically palpable how the energy in the room changes.
