im writing an epilogue of my 9.6k word fic from nanowrimo

am i cookin...?

the premise of this part is that it's jay's perspective, but he can't live in his house anymore, so he leaves and goes to... idk i picked chicago because it took around 18-20 hours to get there from ny in the 1920s-30s. anyway, he is not well after nick literally khs right in front of him and he's haunted by a figment of his imagination due to that trauma that manifests in the form of the spirit of nick following him around. nick is not physically present, but moreso in a mental plane of existence. also, he's not real. he's very much dead and not a spirit, he has moved past being a spirit, he is no longer in the realm between life and death. he is very much gone but jay is just traumatized as all shit

okay. say jay and nick were in an established relationship for me, okay?

i bet you anything that jay would not be the greatest at properly expressing his emotions, so when he would get stressed out (bonus points if it’s in the middle of one of his own parties), he wouldn’t really tell anyone and would disappear into another room.

i bet you that nick would trail him, find him, and jay would try to act like his normal self, but nick would know he’s off. so, nick, being nick, would sit down, pull jay to sit beside him, and would just barely interlock their hands, bring jay’s hand to his lips, and kiss the back of it.

and you know what? jay would be okay, comforted by his lover’s kindness and affection, and then nick would lean over to kiss him on the cheek wordlessly, and he would just melt. he would definitely smile when nick’s other hand drifts towards his hair and pulls it out its gelled position, telling nick that he would have to put the gel back in.

nick would not care, and he would mess with jay’s hair until it’s nearly covering his eyes. :’)
