I felt in the depths of my heart certain that our desires would be granted...I was absolutely confident in the mercy of Jesus.

Something strange is happening—there is a great silence on earth today, a great silence and stillness. The whole earth keeps silence because the King is asleep. The earth trembled and is still because God has fallen asleep in the flesh and he has raised up all who have slept ever since the world began. God has died in the flesh and hell trembles with fear.
He has gone to search for our first parent, as for a lost sheep.
[...] I order you, O sleeper, to awake. I did not create you to be held a prisoner in hell. Rise from the dead, for I am the life of the dead. Rise up, work of my hands, you who were created in my image.
[...]For your sake I, your God, became your son; I, the Lord, took the form of a slave; I, whose home is above the heavens, descended to the earth and beneath the earth. For your sake, for the sake of man, I became like a man without help, free among the dead. For the sake of you, who left a garden, I was betrayed to the Jews in a garden, and I was crucified in a garden.
See on my face the spittle I received in order to restore to you the life I once breathed into you. See there the marks of the blows I received in order to refashion your warped nature in my image. On my back see the marks of the scourging I endured to remove the burden of sin that weighs upon your back. See my hands, nailed firmly to a tree, for you who once wickedly stretched out your hand to a tree.
I slept on the cross and a sword pierced my side for you who slept in paradise and brought forth Eve from your side. My side has healed the pain in yours. My sleep will rouse you from your sleep in hell. The sword that pierced me has sheathed the sword that was turned against you.
Rise, let us leave this place. [...]The bridal chamber is adorned, the banquet is ready, the eternal dwelling places are prepared, the treasure houses of all good things lie open. The kingdom of heaven has been prepared for you from all eternity.

"The soul that wants to serve God day and night in His temple...must be resolved to share fully in its Master's passion. It is one of the redeemed who in its turn must redeem other souls, and for that reason it will sing on its lyre: 'I glory in the Cross of Jesus Christ.'"

"Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows. He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him."

"...behold Him bound to the column, filled with pain, with all His flesh torn in pieces for the great love He bears you; so much suffering, persecuted by some. spit on by others, denied by His friends, abandoned by them, with no one to defend Him, frozen from the cold, left so alone that you can console each other."

"If you are experiencing trials or are sad, behold Him on the way to the garden: what great affliction He bore in His soul; for having become suffering itself, He tells us about it and complains of it." (St. Teresa of Jesus, Way of Perfection, ch. 26)
"The scene of His prayer in the garden, especially, was a comfort to me; I strove to be His companion there. If I could, I thought of the sweat and agony He had undergone in that place. ...I remained with Him as long as my thoughts allowed me..." (St. Teresa of Jesus, Life, ch. 9)

How well I know the fount that freely flows, Although 'tis night.
The eternal font is hid in living bread, That we with life eternal may be fed, Although 'tis night.
This living fount which is so dear to me, Is in this Bread of Life which now I see, Although 'tis night.
(St. John of the Cross, “Song of the Soul That Rejoices in Knowing God Through Faith,” st. 9, 11)

On the evening of Love, speaking without parable,
Jesus said : “If anyone wishes to love me
All his life, let him keep my Word.
My Father and I will come to visit him.
And we will make his heart our dwelling.
Coming to him, we shall love him always.
We want him to remain, filled with peace,
In our Love ! . . . ”
Living on Love is living on your life,
Glorious King, delight of the elect.
You live for me, hidden in a host.
I want to hide myself in you, O Jesus!
Lovers must have solitude,
A heart-to-heart lasting night and day.
Just one glance of yours makes my beatitude.
I live on Love ! . . .

"I cannot say this without tears and great joy of soul! How You desire, Lord, thus to be with us and to be present in the [Blessed] Sacrament ... You would be glad to be with us since You say that Your delight is to be with children of the earth.”

“And now, in the Holy Eucharist, I see You complete Your self-abasement. O Divine King of Glory, with wondrous humility, You submitted Yourself to all Your Priests, without any distinction between those who love You and those who are lukewarm or cold in Your service. They may advance or delay the hour of the Holy Sacrifice: You are always ready to come down from Heaven at their call. O my Beloved, under the white Eucharistic Veil You appear to me meek and humble of Heart to teach me humility,...and so I wish to respond to Your Love, by putting myself in the lowest place, by sharing Your humiliation, so that I may 'have part with Thee' in the Kingdom of Heaven.”
