I've also been writing original stories. Here is a snippet:
What a strange phenomenon where time appeared to stop completely when boredom began to prick through the pores, seeping through muscle and settling into his bones. Ran could feel himself aging faster the longer he’d sat in the stifling classroom, watching chalk dust fall and coat the floor as his teacher wrote down symbols and equations on the blackboard.
On Ran's right, the scratching of the pencil against the notebook was steadily at hand, scribbling away along the margins of doodles. And Ran was well aware of the person in front of him nodding off in sleep, too far gone from the clutches of boredom to be saved.
-------
It's a time loop. I thought of the saddest love story ever, put it in a time loop, and then started writing what happened at a random section of the time loop.

I'm writing again. The thing is, in between the time of not writing and writing, I ended up getting a new laptop. So I still need to recover all my documents to update the WIPs.
In the meantime, I'm taking advantage of wanting to write again by writing a new story. Currently in a billion pieces now, but here's basically the premise of the story:
“I met my soulmate today,” she told him.
“And?” Isshiki turned to look at her. “Are you leaving me?”
“Don’t be silly,” Nene said. The thought hadn’t even crossed her mind.
Except it appeared to be in Isshiki’s. “Why—would you leave, if you met your soulmate?”
“I already met mine,” Isshiki dismissed.
That was news to Nene.
“When?” Nene asked, hurt that he didn’t tell her until now.
“Does it matter?” Isshiki asked, sidestepping the question.
She had many more questions.
“What happened?” Nene pushed.
“Nothing happened,” Isshiki stressed.

Brief hiatus.
Haven’t been in the writing mood lately; on top of that, I found more webnovels to read and it’s…becoming unmanageable. There are spreadsheets and lists (reading and to read) and I’m definitely going to learn some Korean because of webnovels…yeah. At the least I can say that there are worse vices to become obsessed with, but it’s consumed a lot of my time lately.
I think I just need to take a break; I’ll hopefully come back in April 🤞🏻

Writing the one-shot…it might end up being a two-shot. Lot of angst in what I thought was going to be a quick and lighthearted story. It went downhill so fast. Whoops.
Mostly because I don’t condone cheating, and I don’t think Nene does either. I think the second part will have to be Isshiki’s POV.
Just thoughts as I try to wrap up this story and hopefully get it out in the next couple of days.

Posted the next chapter; had to make the last scene from scratch, so it took a bit longer than I thought, but done! Onto the next chapter of "These hands had to let it go..." (although I want to write the one-shot...)

Pushing to get the chapter out; just wrapping up the ending now.
Very short chapter though…maybe I’ll add an extra scene. We’ll see.
Edit: so yeah, an extra scene it is 😂

I think I'm (definitely) going to be late on posting this, but I started writing it, so it's getting there.
A teaser for the beginning of the next chapter of CelebrityChef (unedited, and subject to change):
Satoshi was trying his best to listen to the director as he explains the shoot, but his entire focus was on the girl getting hair and makeup swarming around her.
After Kinokuni-kun arrived, the director took one look at her and became convinced that it would be best to have her also included in the shoot, changing things on the fly as he barks orders to the film crew.
All the best for Satoshi, who couldn’t contain his glee at the displeasure that Kinokuni-kun had emitted all throughout the process of getting ready to take part in the shoot. It was setting them back on the time, but considering the way that both Tadokoro-kun and Kinokuni-san were reacting, pushing back the shoot was probably for the best.
—————————————————————-
Edit: so I also started planning the next 10 chapters of the story, as vague as spoilers go, there’s a time skip, and I made it sad again. But also, there’s a plot somewhere in there, so yay?

Just have to wrap up the ending of the chapter; but currently battling sleep deprivation and a migraine.
I really want this last scene to be perfect, so I might just call it a day and finish it up and post it tomorrow.
Sorry, I really tried to get it done today, but I was feeling really sick the past few days 😭

Still writing the next chapter; I think I’ll cut it short and add an extra chapter to the story instead.
Which means I’m about 75% done; on track to getting it up this weekend and writing the next chapter of CelebrityChef!

Writing the next chapter of “These hands had to let it go…”. Probably the hardest chapter I’ve ever wrote, but I think I have a skeleton of the pieces for it. So far, I have clawed through 800 words…maybe another 1500-2000 to go. I think it’ll be a shorter chapter for sure.
But I think I can get that done by the weekend. I also happened to see a tumblr link a trello board showing their projects and progress (so much organization, I’m jealous), I’m thinking of doing that, if only to help me organize all the ideas I have in my head.
I also made it to 10,000 words for the novel. Milestones 💯 but I should probably amp up with the novel writing so that gets out of the way. I’m quite happy with how it’s turning out, and I think this is especially poignant to have this story sent out to the world. So got to keep at it!

Supposed to be the Valentine's Day one-shot, but had to scramble and change it to be...not.
Also way behind on the next update...but I'm working on it (>.<) For now, enjoy this brief snippet of an idea:
Up until now, Isshiki’s tactic was to annoy Nene long enough to cave in, but having done this too many times in the past, Nene had become immune to such antics. See, the way to deal with Isshiki was to become even more obstinate than the man himself. As long as she continued to hold out until the end, Nene would win. “Please?” Isshiki wheedles, and Nene hesitates—just to see his eyes light up. “No,” Nene repeats, watching with relish as the light diminish in his eyes. “You’re no fun, Nene,” Isshiki grumbles, as if that was news to the both of them.
Isshiki wants Nene to film a short cooking video for his social media account, but there’s no way Nene would agree. It ends up blowing up in her face.

If you're wondering why it's taking me a while to write the next fic, it's because I'm also writing a novel. Or two. Or four (five), but the two are the ones I'm focusing on.
Here's a snippet; this one is the first of a series:
“Kate,” her boss’s voice echoed out from the depths of darkness.
Is he seriously going to talk to her like this, when Kate had gone out of her schedule, during a high-risk operation, to accommodate his request to see her?
Kate searched around in the dark, feeling her way around the wall to find the light switch. With a flick, the fluorescent lights blinked back to life, flooding the office with its glow.
Her boss huddles under his desk and hisses at her. “The light, it burns!”
Kate brushes away an errant strand of hair behind her ear as she walks towards her boss’s desk. “If you could stop scaring the new recruits every time, we wouldn’t be having a staffing shortage.”

New soulmate one-shot up; now I can cross this off the list!
“I would have thought that you would have figured it out by now,” Isshiki mused, swirling his drink in his hands. “I’m not like someone with a unique soulmark,” Nene couldn’t help but shoot back. She hadn’t seen it, but Isshiki had told her that when he’d first seen the words form across his arm, he instantly knew who his soulmate was. Why Isshiki didn’t seek out his soulmate was beyond Nene, but it wasn’t like Nene was complaining. By now, most of their friends and acquaintances had found their soulmates, were in serious relationships, or were married. It was like Isshiki and Nene were the only ones who hadn’t found their significant other.
Where Nene has a hard time figuring out who her soulmate is, the words on her soulmark unoriginal and unassuming, not enough to distinguish her soulmate from everyone else.

I haven’t written anything this week.
It’s been pretty crazy at work; there’s deadlines and meetings and working groups and conferences that are all happening this February. I did my first overtime at my position today just to wrap up this project. I haven’t been sleeping well lately because of this project, but that’s done now, and I can (kind of) relax for tomorrow (at least).
But I want to post something up this weekend, so I’ll try to get something up…but we’ll see. The goal is still to post something each week.

So I'm ahead of my schedule, and thought I might as well continue on in my writing.
I'd like to post the next chapter of the breakup/makeup story, but I got inspired to write the soulmark misunderstanding one-shot. So I think that's going to be the next story that will be posted.
I did start writing the next chapter of the breakup/makeup story, so it'll just be a matter of having that out later on in the month instead.
The tiniest of snippets of the soulmark misunderstanding one-shot (I do have a title for it, why don't I use it?):
Except Nene was approaching thirty, and her parents’ patience was not infinite. Either she find her soulmate, or she marry someone—anyone—and that was the end of it.
“I would have thought that you would have figured it out by now,” Isshiki mused.
“I’m not like someone who has a unique soulmark,” Nene couldn’t help but shoot back.
