It seemed to Shadow that all his stature was good for was to land him jobs that dealt in manual labor. Not that he was really complaining--it was something he was good at--but it lacked some of the excitement that his oddest job had given him. It was however a bit inconvenient when he was meant to help a family move their things from their home into a van and he nearly crashed headlong into a young woman. Swerving to counterbalance the tilting of the heavy box in his arms, he managed to stammer an apology before setting the heavy load on the edge of the truck. "Sorry 'bout that, miss." He repeated once he could straighten and make sure he hadn't hurt her.

"You like that book, too?"
Glancing up from the worn paperback in his hands, Shadow offered the stranger a small smile. “Guess it isn’t hard to find a Stephen King fan, is it?” He supposed it was common with the sheer amount of books bearing that name.

"No problem." Shadow took the phone, pocketing it once again as he looked down at the young woman standing beside him. She seemed lost, impatient...if he didn't know better he'd say that she was almost apprehensive. There was always something deeper than face value, he knew, but this seemed deeper than he was used to. "You need any help or something?"
"Thanks." She took the phone, dialed her dad’s number and waited, impatiently, with the thing pressed against the side of her face. It was getting cold, and she wanted to know if it was safe to go back to the hotel. No answer; he was still busy doing god know’s what. With an exasperated sigh, and handed the phone back to Shadow. “I’m done. He didn’t pick up. Sorry to bother you.”

"No problem." He relaxed as the man backed off, shaking his head. "What I'm here for. In all honesty I'm glad there didn't have to be a fight to get him out." He could handle confrontation just fine, but a whole lot of attention was a different story. "And you can skip the 'sir', miss; Shadow suits me just fine."
"Nice party, eh?"
"Yeah." Parties honestly weren’t Shadow’s thing, but as a paid bouncer, he probably ought not to state his opinion to anyone that might talk. Uncrossing his arms and straightening a bit, he offered a smile. "Pretty full house, looks like."

Shadow straightened a little more, giving the offending man a pointed glare. "Take it easy pal," He said clearly over the noise of the party. "Hate to have to cause a fuss in front of your friends. Apologize to the lady and we can all be friends again."

"Yeah, kind of hard to stay at the sidelines when people are packed so tight." He glanced to the crowd before back to the woman at his side. "Honestly I don't know what this is for, do you? They didn't tell me before I started work."

"Can I use your phone? Mine's dead." {{I know we kinda wrote together before but?? Here I am, hi again~}}
"Yeah, sure." It was a cheap pre-paid thing, barely able to text, but it was all he needed. A phone call was well within its usefulness and it was no huge loss if she ran off with it. Handing it to her, he returned his hands to his pockets. "Here, it should work."

"Afraid not. Just came into the city        last night, as a matter of fact."
He is still getting used to Rapture and its oddities, coming to this place to gain some semblance of normalcy. In all honesty, he is startled when the stranger strikes up a conversation, but likes the company all the same.

—“I don’t believe I recognize      you; have we met?”
Though Rapture boasts a substantial population, he does make an effort to know as many people as possible, especially those that frequent Fort Frolic and the art galleries he and the stranger now stand outside of.

"Hey, take it easy." Shadow stepped into the light, holding his hands up as he looked the small figure over. Awfully young to be out by oneself, he thought, glancing about to see if there was a chaperone or a parent around. "Sorry." He thought to add, knowing he was a much more intimidating figure than most expected. "Didn't mean to startle you."

"Who’s there?"
The girl called out, her voice as threatening as she could make it. Darkness was fast approaching, and she needed to be on her guard at all times if she was to get to the docks the next day.
"I can hear you moving."

"Mister World? What happened to your lips?"
World sighed. “The truth of the matter,” he said, “is that somebody once sewed them together. A long time ago.”
