Hey all! Don’t worry, I’m here. I had to spontaneously move apartments this last week and it was INTENSE. Give me another day or two to adjust and I’ll be around to reply. <3

His annoyed expression made the young woman wince quietly. Bright blue hues quickly glanced over him, looking over at his cane. Oh dear, he was one of THOSE wealthy folks. The ones she had seen advertised in magazines she secretly bought for herself behind her adopted mother’s back. Before her and her adopted parents packed their bags, and bought property to open up a new bed-n-breakfast. Their large home was open to guests staying for a few short days, and one of their guests was a wealthy man; dressed exactly like the one that stood before her. And probably had the same dull personality, too. Every time she seen the man, it was very difficult not to just punch him. He was…very opinionated when it came to her being a woman. “Thank you,” She said, taking the painting from him and carefully folded it, slipping it inside her skirt pocket. “Middle class, actually. Or is it second class?” Her gaze shifted to the floor, thinking for a moment. Her eyes immediately looked at a shiny deck flooring, raising a brow. Were the first class deck flooring shinier than second class? Suppose some of the first class had expected the flooring to be far more shinier than their shoes. She shrugged, looking back at the man with a smile. “Well, I was at the middle class dock. And well, my painting slipped from my grasp. So, I climbed over to the first class and well, here we are.” Jules chuckled softly, her pale cheeks turned a little pink, beginning to fiddle with her fingers. Jules was already cursing at herself for speaking to him, worried he may even have her arrested for trespassing onto first class. “N-N-Normally I do not paint people; more so landscape. But there isn’t much inspiration currently, and I so happen saw this redheaded woman from afar. And thought to myself; ‘Wow, her hair is gorgeous and is almost as beautiful as a Gibson Girl.’ Always wanted to have such a beautiful hair color, but unfortunately I was cursed with being a blonde. I heard redheads have more fun than a blonde. Do you think that’s true?”

• ▆▆▆▆▆▆▆▆     R M S    T I T A N I C,  1 9 1 2     ▆▆▆▆ • • • •      Honestly? He wished she would leave him alone already. Torn between wanting to turn away himself and wanting to report her for trespassing on first class territory, Caledon instead concluded to remaining quiet, his beaten in politeness getting the better of the man. It was difficult for him to appear dramatic in public, if ever, as it was very demeaning. And Caledon Hockley was anything but. “It’s second class, I believe,” he corrected her, having raised his brows and adjust his stance to lean further on his cane as she spoke. Yes. Second class. A place she clearly belonged.      Inhaling slowly through his nose, the cool sea air refreshing him momentarily, the man soon drew his brow eyes back to the young woman. Granted, she was a handsome thing. Underclass, obviously, but no less attractive. Blonde hair was quite pure on a woman, though he couldn’t say that most blonde girls were as innocent as all that. She seemed naïve, however, compared to even the most dull of her class. Maybe it was due to her stuttering.      He pressed his lips together, glancing around the quiet deck that was first class, which appeared to be more relaxed then the others, when something the woman said suddenly caught his attention. “A redheaded woman?” He asked promptly, furrowing his brow. “--and how long ago did you see this woman?” He continued, but then was caught off guard by her question girl on. More fun? He scoffed in amusement, smirking a little and flexing his fingers against the top of his cane. “The most fun a girl should be having is dining out, or--” He raised his brows then, relaxed. “Or setting a table for tea. Perhaps shopping?”

So for him not to take up investment in the White Star Line was foolish;  it was booming, as would the rest of his stock by the time they reached New York. “Yes,” he said. “I’m eager to see how the staterooms compare to the hotels in London. You remember how fine they were, don’t you?” He had asked, as he spent a small amount of time with Rose and her mother not two weeks ago in the city, to which he appropriately paid for their stay.      The two of them wandered into a grand, however private, ballroom. Tables were adorned with fine china and wine had begun to be poured;  Cal yearned for a glass. having heard her questions, however, the ma continued to escort his fiancee to their table, where he lowered the arm she held and instead pulled out her seat. As she sat, he spoke;  a short laugh, polite, but condescending. “You don’t want to walk here, Rose,” he insisted, moving now to his own seat directly beside her. Lifting his hand to the waiter, signaling for his and Rose’s glass to be tended too.       Once filled and in his hand, Caledon took a brief sip of red wine and glanced once to Ruth, who sat across from him when Rose spoke of dinner. She would have what he was having? The two exchanged a look of surprise, when her mother chimed in with a polite scoff. “Rose,” said she. “You’ll have what Mr. Hockley orders for you. He is so kind as to treat us tonight.” Smiling firmly, looking to his fiancee again as the waiter awaited their orders, Caledon promptly obliged and said; “---I will have the filet mignon and she will have the lamb.” He raised his brows, his expression still rather kind. “You like lamb, don’t you?”

//  R M S   T i t a n i c ,   A p r i l   1 9 1 2      The sea was especially chilled today. He suspected they were moving rapidly North, no doubt attempting to speed up their arrival time into New York City;  the headlines would make history if they would arrive early, pleasing Mr. Ismay and proceeding Titanic’s anticipated reputation. It made no differenced to him, however, because the luxuries on this ship were quite exceptional with the single flaw that.. his fiancee was nowhere to be found, at present. He must’ve just missed her, however, as Lovejoy had only seen her minutes before. How Rose could avoid him so smoothly was concerning, at the very least.      Pressing his lips together firmly at the thought, Caledon leaned briefly on the fine, dark oak cane he donned in his right fist;  he peered out along the skyline of the Atlantic, as though to study it. However, it wasn’t long before some commotion caught his attention. People murmuring and exclaiming not some feet away, towards the three railings leading down to a second class deck. And then, something touched his pant leg.
Glancing down at the paper that fluttered against him , Caledon reached down to take the parcel in his fingers. Tilting his head and turning the paper so he could observe the artwork there, he was surprised to find that adorned it. ‘Rose?’ He thought. Raising his brows, as her location had been confirmed by this --- mystery drawing, which was ok at best. And then a voice sounded above the breeze of the ocean and the words of his fellow first class. A girl.      Clearing his throat, a very mild look of annoyance on his face, Cal offered the paper back to the young woman, before straightening his posture again and looking down on her. “You sketch from the lower deck then?” He asked, thinking more out loud than anything. If she drew down there, she should stay there.          //  @murdrcsimmctal

Jules had just finished painting, sitting on one of the benches on the middle class deck. The blonde enjoyed painting, a great way for her to escape from reality. But she had a struggle on what to paint exactly; there was not much worth while to paint besides a huge body of water. As she looked around for inspiration, a redhead standind on the upper deck caught her attention. Wow, she’s so beautiful. Jules spent about almost over two hours on her painting. It was the longest one she ever worked on, but Jules didn’t care. She wanted to add every detail to it, making sure it looked per - “Shit!” The sudden breeze flew the piece of paper off of her lap, travelling onto the first class deck. “Dammit!” She cursed to herself, gripping onto the edge of the deck. Her feet pressed against the wall, as she climbed over onto the uppder deck. Passengers of the first class exclaimed in surprise, watching the young girl climb over. She flashed them a nervous smile, and ran down the deck. Jules had hoped she would be able to get the painting before anyone…oh dear. A well dressed man stood in front of her, holding the painting. Her cheeks turned red, pressing her lips together. Her eyes nervous looked him over, before shyly looking down at the ground. Clearing her throat, she took a step toward him, smiling softly. “Uh, c-c-could I have that back, please?”

//   S o u t h a m p t o n   O p e r a  H o u s e ,   A p r i l   1 9 1 2      He did enjoy the opera. But more than her question, he noticed the way that the young woman spoke. He had met her several times. Enough to know that when she was out in public, she did her damndest to conform to the societal norms of the highest sort;  and right she was to do so. As much as he began to adore Rose, neither one of them was above what society expected of them;  not even Caledon Hockley. The steel industry was only growing, as was his fortune and his reputation, and his assets would not be made a fool by neither himself nor his future bride.       “I did,” he replied promptly, smiling towards the woman. He even leaned in a little and mused, raising his brows and he glanced around the room when he spoke only to her. “Honestly, I’d much rather be someplace else,” he admitted, knowing by the sparkle in her eye that she often wished the same thing. Straightening his posture, he reached up with one hand to adjust his collar when his attention was briefly drawn back to Ruth, who spoke suddenly of Titanic. He exhaled a quick, amused breath and smiled at her, a certain charm returning to his voice. “It’s about time we see what Mr. Andrews has in store. He’s been involved for so long that I was starting to think Titanic was more of a myth than any kind of ship.”      With Ruth departing, and Caledon watching as she went, the man glanced once around the room with curiosity, noticing that the room slowly begun to empty, no doubt because of supper. To his surprise, though not entirely, young Rose gestured to his arm, to which he readily offered and smiled. He glanced towards the beautifully arched doorway which would lead the opera goers towards a new ballroom, adorned with a more private, sidelined restaurant. There, they would eat supper. “We must be heading to dinner now, and yes --” He paused, glancing down at her as they began to move towards the doors, some folks behind Ruth and the Countess. “-- you may bring whatever parcels that please you, Rose.”

Help me. I watched Titanic for the first time & fell in love with Cal
Tumblr media
First of all;  everybody must see Titanic. I’m happy that you’re in the same boat! (No pun intended). Cal is a really interesting character in terms of being an antagonist. He’s neither good nor evil, and that’s why I love him!

Patient, with nowhere to be and nobody to account for, Caledon scanned the crowd quietly, that is, until an older couple approached him. A Countess and her husband, to which Cal gave a firm smile and a handshake, lowering his glass of wine in the opposite hand in order to politely schmooze the duo. They talked of the opera, business, and of cigars, and of the fine people who showed up tonight.         “ Excuse me a moment, “ the man insisted, dipping his head only slightly to the young Countess and the man as he left them to their drinks. Smiling handsomely, teeth white and his expression no less than charming, Caledon approached the two women. At the very same time, he set his half emptied wine glass on a passing waiters silver tray; the motion as smooth as his greeting. “ Mrs DeWitt Bukater, “ he said, taking Ruth’s small hand in his own and raising the back of her palm to his lips very briefly;  a polite greeting to the mother first.          Brown eyes shifted towards her daughter. A woman he had met only once before, and a woman he would no doubt get to know better. “ Rose, “ he said in ‘hello,’ and took her hand more gently in his own, kissing her hand as well. At her apology, he smiled again and glanced between the women, only to land on his bride-to-be once more. He gave a short chuckle, amused. “ If too many cakes do not make you sick, then they aren’t very good cakes. ” ///// @vastatarosa
