a deeper look at mikes feelings towards eleven

i feel like mike was never in love w el but more so the IDEA of her. like "oh cool im so grown up i have a gf ". it was obvious that he cares about her very much (you can see that throughout the whole show).

its like he had this mindset that that he had to help her, and had to save her, and was under pressure to do so.

in s1 before he kissed her, he made himself believe that he had a crush on her based on what a crush is "supposed" to look like.

in s2, he still thought that and blamed his sadness and calling her for 353 days on that he missed the girl he had a crush on, when really, he just missed a friend, and ofc was extremely happy to see her when she came back, and also happy that he would have someone to take care of and be with again almost. (in reality he was just happy to have back a friend that he had made a very strong bond with)

in s3 when he said "because i love her and i cant lose her again." i think thats obviously true (meaning he loves her platonically ofc) but he doesn't want to lose her, partially to be under that pressure again. that being said, hes not IN love with her, he just loves her very much, and as all friends would, he would never want to lose her and then it be his fault almost. (almost like how he felt with will)

and when he says that she is a "superhero" he means it, but clearly not in a way you would see your girlfriend.

mike is obviously a queer character whos dealing with internalized homophobia. like mike would be the kind of person to say "i cant be gay if i love my gf." well, yes he does love her just not like that. however, hes in love with will but has trouble admitting it or realizing it because he tricks himself into believing that he loves el in a more than platonic kind of way (even though he knows he doesn't) mike is not in love with eleven, hes in love with the idea of living a "perfect" life where he is straight and happy. i think that once and if mike and will finally start dating, he will realize that being happy does not revolve around being in a heterosexual relationship.

a look into Mike Wheeler

stranger things foreshadows Mike in a way most shows don’t. Everything I say in this is just simply opinions and what I believe, you don’t have to agree with everything I’m about to say.

First, let’s talk about a possible Mileven break up. We know that stancy and M*leven are very similar in ways, but have we talked about the argument parallels? Nancy broke up with Steve due to Steve not being able to simply say I love you, and Mike and Eleven argued over that too! And, he only said I love you when Eleven NEEDED it most. And he didn’t even look like he even meant it. We know Mike has severe attachment issues, meaning he is scared to lose somebody (he got that from Will going missing), and he didn’t want to lose El because he needs her, like he needs all of his friends. Coming from experience, I am in a relationship I’m not happy in, and I have a hard time saying I love you unless the person needs to hear it, because I don’t even know if I love him. (Don’t worry,, I’m not using the guy, I’m trying to learn how to love him and we have talked about how I feel)

2. The repeated use of yellow and blue is insane,, and we know El’s favorite color is blue as well, but come on. El and Will see each other as siblings, and we know Mike and Will love the colors blue and yellow. (Will also likes gold) but GUYS. GUYSSS! California is in the WEST! Mike and Will were wearing BLUE AND YELLOW. That is not a coincidence at all. They know what they are doing, they can’t bullshit me. And,, as we’ve seen in behind the scene clips for season 5, Will and Mike wear the same sized shoes and we have that proof from the skating rink, both 10’s, and Will’s shoes are IN MIKE’S ROOM! That means they are probably going to have a talk in there, like when Mike came in Will’s room in season 4. Also, how come every time the sun shines through the windows of their bedroom Will and Mike are talking😭??

3. This part is just a batshit crazy theory/AU, I am breathing and living off byler, but what if Mike and Will got vecna’ed and then they noticed they need each other and go crazy together and AAAAAAAA BYLER!😞🙏 (this part is just me going insane guys.)

4. Mike Wheeler’s homosexuality: I have dealt with internalized homophobia, and I can absolutely say Mike has it. You secretly question “am I gay?” and that type of shit, and we know Ted Wheeler is absolutely homophobic most likely, ( he prob won’t give a shit if Mike dated a man tho, he’d just eat his chicken or nag him, or say “I knew it.”) and it’s a bit weird how Ted questions “Mike has a girlfriend??” In season 1 just seeming like he is shocked, not because he doesn’t think Mike is capable of getting a girlfriend, but maybe instead because he had just always thought Mike was gay due to signs?? And, Mike has made faces by signs in backgrounds that say “Women” and smiling by signs that say “men” or guys I don’t remember guys,, and we also have a literal sign that points towards Mike’s closet. Like WHAT??
