bless melinoe being so formal she addresses all her family members with a title. like yeah that's characterization through dialogue and that's great but more importantly, every time i forget how another character relates to her (which is often!) she'll straight up tell me eg, "cousin apollo/artemis" "auntie hestia"

the salute button is so funny because it makes melinoe, polite to a fault and even quite sweet at times, punctuate every interaction no matter how severe or casual by reminding everyone of her mission to kill chronos. it's become a regular part of speech at this point. imagine mel excusing herself to go to bed: "goodnight headmistress hecate, i love you! sweet dreams! death to chronos!" or using it as a swear when she stubs a toe. if that ain't the most succinct summation of her vengeful intensity...

in my interpretation, nemesis may be generally mean to everybody but her actual grievances appear to be with hecate as an authority figure and the way she runs things, and not so much with melinoe. it's just that mel is fiercely loyal to hecate so they'll always be implicated together when nemesis makes a dig, which i guess she can't stop herself from doing. and in turn mel can't stop herself from getting defensive of her headmistress and mother figure like it's pure reflex. it's funny, if nemesis is a jerk to melinoe she brushes it off but if it's hecate being criticized, mel is like "well hold on now!" and is compelled to justify hecate's methods as if nemesis could even be persuaded otherwise

no seriously people asking why watcher didn't simply ask dropout to be absorbed into their service as if they'd definitely agree, and the one adjacent person on reddit i saw speculating that dropout offered to produce and host watcher content but the watcher guys refused because they were too proud... you people are writing hollywood startup fanfiction. you like those headcanons? you like those imagines? for fucking internet businessmen???
lmao where did people get the idea that dropout should act as a foster home for abandoned or struggling media companies

i don't think it will actually happen but i want to be able to say i was the first to soft-predict it if it does: hot ones will invite the d20 cast for an interview while they're all in nyc for the msg live show next year

in idol anime (of the admittedly few i've actually seen) the stoic/cold/unsociable/humorless types are always amusing because it's like, hey bud, as a trained entertainer who has to be likeable for their job, shouldn't you logically have better interpersonal skills? and i guess it's funnier if they don't and are successful and beloved regardless. and then there's another layer if they're good at putting on a superficial charismatic persona. which, depending on whether their role is protagonist or antagonist, will be treated as not really a big deal because it's just a part of the job OR as something very sinister because that's what people associate with fakeness. and THEN there's tenn who's like (with the absolute sourest sneer on his cherubic lil babyface):
"of COURSE i'm likeable everything i do is for the FANS and it would break their hearts if i was anything less than a perfect gentleman at ALL HOURS OF THE DAY. you don't do all that? you unprofessional idiot. you worthless fool. you should all strive to be as nice as me"

i'm relatively new to idolish7 but its enjoyers do indeed pass the vibe check of "sincerely loves and embraces the source material AND will make fun of it without hesitation"

kaburagi (snottily ugly crying because he misses aoyagi like a child misses their mom gone on a business trip for too long): that's right, ONODA-SAN is my favorite senpai!!!

man i fucking love the villains in idolish7. they all have reasons for why they're so fucked up and insane but they aren't deliberately given sob stories to make them more sympathetic. other series will be like "audience, don't you feel sorry for him? he almost got the main cast killed and tortured the children under his care but it's okay because he feels REALLY bad about it. isn't his remorse sexy 🥺" NO!! in i7 they're all irredeemable garbage bastards who leak carbon monoxide gas in orphanages for fun, which makes them so much more delightfully entertaining

off the top of my head we got superwholock, rise of the brave tangled dragons, NDS visual novels ("professor ghost attorney"), and creepy RPG maker games (yume nikki, OFF, corpse party, etc). what other superfandoms can you remember from back in the day?
EDIT: i'm ashamed that i forgot to list my own wheelhouse which is Sports Anime Hell circa 2013
