what the heck happened i sat down to write silly-horny-jealous-sparring Eddie and got this Eddie instead???
Buck’s only ever made Eddie feel safe. And Eddie’s always tried to give that back to him. He thought he’s done a pretty good job of it, too. And now there’s Tommy, and Eddie can see how Tommy makes Buck feel safe in this whole new way. Safe enough to explore this part of himself he’s never opened his eyes to before.  And it hurts because—because Eddie knows, deep inside his chest where the ache lives, that this isn’t something he ever could have given Buck. No matter badly he might have wanted to. No matter how much he might’ve tried.
my mans really going thru it and his dramatic angsting cannot be contained

yet another snippet for you since i have an active wip (and i'm not posting a new chapter today... sorry!)
from the illicit affairs chapter 5 draft:
Eddie doesn’t believe in jinxes. But if he did, he would sure think he’d jinxed himself with what he said, and didn’t say, in his therapy session when they’re on their next shift. They’re trying to schedule a team night out, and pick what they’re going to do. The latter is always difficult when they all have different opinions on what would be most fun: Chim’s vote is for karaoke, of course; Hen has suggested a new wine bar; Buck is talking about desert go-karting again; Ravi wants them to visit an owl cafe, which is apparently like a cat cafe but with… owls? But between Chim planning a wedding, Hen settling in Mara, and Ravi… Ravi doing whatever it is Ravi does, the former is also proving tricky as they’re struggling to find an evening everyone is free.  Eddie is easier to pin down. He knows Chris would be only too happy for an excuse to have an evening out at a friend’s or that Pepa would also be pleased to have him for the night instead. And Eddie doesn’t see Marisol on a regular schedule, fits her in when he can.  Buck should be the easiest, but when Hen suggests, “How about next Friday?” — and Chim says, “Yeah, that should work, so long as it’s not too much of a late one. Maddie and I have a cake tasting the following morning”, Ravi checks his phone and says he’s free, and Eddie casts his mind back to the planner on the fridge and then nods — Buck tsks, says, “No can do, sorry. I’ve got a date.” Chim and Hen raise opposite eyebrows, mirror images of each other, and Ravi coos, “Oooh,” while Eddie feels his stomach drop. He turns to look at Buck, beside him at the table in the loft, seated and waiting for Bobby to pull whatever delicacy he’s making them for lunch out of the oven. But Buck isn’t looking at him, won’t look at him, keeps his gaze fixed across the table, and shifts in his seat, enough that his knee moves away, no longer pressed against Eddie’s own.

I had big plans to get to a Certain Scene in some things fall last night that were completely derailed by Ms. Taylor Swift so instead here's some more of Josh & Eddie Take On WeHo (this is aso from some things fall, to be clear...)
“Josh,” Eddie says, seven-and-a-half minutes later. “Is this a—” “A gay bar, Diaz.” Eddie looks at Josh. Looks at the entrance to the bar. Apart from the bright neon letters spelling out LOVE with a heart for the O and the pride flag hanging over the doorway, it doesn’t really look all that different from the other bars and restaurants on the block. There’s a small front patio in front of the brick facade, and a few people are out there enjoying the warmth of the heat lamps. “Okay,” Eddie says. And then, “Okay.” “Look,” Josh says. “We’re just gonna go inside, have another drink, talk to some people. Nothing you haven’t done before.” “Right,” Eddie agrees faintly.  If Eddie’s expecting to be hit by a cloud of rainbows and glitter when they enter, he’s sorely disappointed. There’s a few people shooting pool at the table tucked into the back corner, and TVs above the bar playing the Lakers game.  Josh takes a seat at the bar and Eddie follows suit. The bartender—a very cut, bearded guy wearing a cropped tank top—sweeps over. Eddie can’t help but check out his arms—they’re very much on display, although he also can’t help thinking they’re not as big as Buck’s.

I just feel really happy for Buck, because it’s this moment of clarity. He’s obviously been searching for something, and this wouldn’t have even been one of his guesses. But then it happened, and he was like, ‘Oh, that was the thing.’ – Oliver Stark

the way oliver and tim talk about this season is so funny. you’re telling me oliver just decided he was going to be bisexual season and tim wasn’t thinking about it until he needed to bring in someone else bc arielle was unavailable for the air rescue so he called up lou and said hey do you want to come back on the show. also im gonna make one of those bitches gay i think what do you think about that? and lou was like hell yeah brother and then tim was like oh shit but eddie’s with what’s her name (marisol) so he can’t be gay yet. and then oliver walked by tim’s office a few times holding a bi pride flag and tim said oh shit. buck can be bi. lou do you want to make out with oliver and lou said no. i will kiss him tenderly and sweetly though. and tim said. we can work with that.

yet another snippet for you since i have an active wip (even if i'm currently neglecting it...)
from the illicit affairs chapter 5 draft:
Frank nods, flips his pen over in his fingers. “And how are things with Marisol?” Eddie thinks for a moment. Things are… they’re– “Fine,” he says, then immediately winces. “Sorry, I know you hate that word. They’re great.” Frank lets out a breath that’s almost a sigh, allows his pen to rest against the notepad in his lap. “I only dislike that word if it is used as a mask,” he states. “If things are going great, i.e. very well, excellent, super, then I would prefer you say that.” He tilts his head at Eddie, considering, in that way Eddie knows means he’s seeing more than Eddie’s aware he’s displaying. “But if things are going okay, all right, not bad, then I would say fine is a fitting description.” “Okay,” Eddie says, “Then, yeah. Things are fine.” The very corner of Frank’s lips curl on the left side of his mouth. It’s a tick that took Eddie weeks and weeks of therapy to pick up on. One that, now he’s identified it, understood it, always makes Eddie feel like Frank is having a proud teacher moment, one where he gives Eddie a gold star and himself a firm pat on the back. It’s kind of endearing but it also makes Eddie want to roll his eyes and slouch in his chair, a moody teen reacting to praise with hostility.  “Do you want to elaborate on that?” Frank asks. And he is asking. If Eddie doesn’t want to, he will let him move the subject on. Maybe if Eddie had said things were going bad — or more likely still said fine but meant it as a cover for not good, poorly, awful — Frank would dig, but now he’s not going to.  “I mean, there isn’t much new to tell,” Eddie says, honest. “Nothing’s really changed since our last appointment.” Or the one before that, or the one before that, he thinks. And maybe that’s precisely why things aren’t any better than fine.  Frank lifts his pen, scratches something onto his notes. Eddie wonders if it’s the exact same thought he’s just had, almost wants to cross the room and peer over Frank’s shoulder at whatever he’s writing.  Once he’s written a short line, Frank flips the pen in his grip again. “And how is Buck?”
