Played Polished Crystal, another romhack that improves the original Crystal game with features from recent generations, but also implements other features like new areas and a restored Kanto region. Went with the non-faithful versions that also changed base stats and typings on various species, hence why Sunflora earned a team spot.

Two of my designs for Smogon’s recent CAP project, where they’re going all out to create three starters. Their typings are Fire/Ground, Water/Bug, and Grass/Electric, but I only managed to draw the former two. Based on shooting stars / star-nosed moles, and diving beetles / atlas mythos respectively. Neither won but the bugger reached top three, so that was nice.

Just played Pokemon Coral, a romhack of Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal which aims to recreate the feeling of Gen II games, so that naturally intrigued me since that's probably my most nostalgic generation. As you can tell, there are a lot more Pokemon available than just from the first two generations, so that made deciding on a team difficult with each new route you explored. I tried to stick with their GSC palette but in the end I cheated a bit to create a better lighting.

For a Smogon’s Flying Press article about good mons (although somewhat unused) in the 1 vs 1 metagame. Saw Relicanth among them and decided to draw a duo with it and Rhyperior. Tried breaking away from my usual style but ultimately didn’t, hue.

are the icons of the pokemon next to Miles what his team is each time you challenge him from the first time at the top to subsequent battles following?

Each row represents the team he has depending on how many badges the player has, and another row for postgame rematch. Seeing how I’m gonna attempt drawing a gym leader for every type, some other conditions may come into play, just doing it for fun for now. Some leaders will have their own official gyms, some may be challenged when certain requirements are met, and others could be “roaming” leaders with no permanent location, with Miles belonging to the last category. Interesting to think about, but how it’d work in practise is another beast.

Drew another gym leader. Granbull is my fav fairy type so thus I had to draw a trainer that could fully reflect its natural charm. Had to edit his appearance various times since I still can’t get body proportions right and but also because Wulfric exists. Also unsure if Biker is an official occupation, would love everyone’s undivided support on this matter.

Been itching go create an ogre species for some time, but things were going slow since my concept just ended up looking like a classic ogre except in a Pokemon style. CalagrianKnight on one of the fakemon discords I frequent cooked up the idea of a lizard using its own severed tail as a weapon, and was kind enough to let me use that feature for this concept, so many thanks!

Like any Pokemon fan worth their salt, I felt implored to check out Pokemon Quest once it dropped on Android. Pretty terrible game, but compelled by the allure of using otherwise terrible Pokemon and big flashy numbers, I managed to beat the last story level with the above team, so say hello to Rubik the Golem, Bismuth the Muk, and √ the Exeggutor.
