Long time no see!

Well it's been a while hasn't it? Life has been absolutely mental for the past year basically, so I'm gonna give a wee rundown of my 2022.

January and February

Not a whole lot happened except I got COVID- fun start I know.

March and April

Visited my sister in Newcastle, dance competitions and working on my art projects- honestly was a fun two months.

May and June

End of year dance show, started my first job, completed my English Lang and Lit GCSE's.- honestly a highlight of my year.

July and August

My first proper musical: Footloose- The best time of my life! Also stayed with my friends in a seaside town and it was great fun. I also started roller-skating which was terrifying but cool.

September and October

Back to school for 5th year, turned 16, midnights by Taylor Swift came out, dressed up as Anne Boleyn for Halloween- a very busy two months but once again great craic

November and December

Performed by first tap solo at competition, did my first high school production of Annie, and did another 4 GCSE's! Probably some of the best fun I've had, and really capped off a thoroughly hectic but really great year.

So yes that's what I've been at all year while I've been away! Hope 2022 treated you all well and I will hopefully be here a bit more next year <3

If you haven't yet, please read Lovely War

I'm currently reading Lovely War and it is absolutely beautiful. The writing style is amazing and also- James?- fantastic aha.

Basic premise

This is basically two love stories set in 1917 which intertwine beautifully, and also- they are narrated by Aphrodite in a Manhattan hotel in 1942, and she is telling the story to Ares and Hephestus. I mean- if you aren't hooked I don't even know.

We don't talk enough about the comedic potential of all the Crows speaking multiple languages.

Nina and Inej talking shit about the rest of the team in front of them in Ravkan,

Jesper calling Wylan cute names in Zemini and Wylan assuming it's an insult,

Matthias using the Fjerdan equivalent of "gosh darn" and "heck" at Kaz because he refuses to swear but he's at the end of his rope,

Kaz actually calling Matthias real Fjerdan swear words to annoy him and because they're the only part of any other language he knows,

Kuwei muttering in Shu under his breath asking how in the world he ended up in this mess,

fun stuff like that.

this might be an unpopular opinion, but the shadow and bone show makes me ship Malina way more than the books did- like I genuinely love them in the show (even though Genyalina is superior)

okay but we definitely get nina hanging out with the original crows trio next season and i’m excited

we get ninej! ninej waffles and ninej gossip and conversation, we get nina and inej learning to just be girlfriends with each other! nina is used to the pressure of being grisha and inej is used to being the wraith surrounded by a bunch of idiots but they get to gossip and be free and relearn parts of life from each other

oh god and then we get nina and kaz’s oddly platonic flirting and the amount they absolutely hate each other but also respect each other and somehow manage to get along, almost like this really precarious sibling relationship. and we get nina complaining about kaz’s haircut and about his feelings for inej she can sense when his breath catches and straight up kanej shipping 

and then the utterly and absolute bisexual disasters nina and jesper will be on screen, obnoxiously flirting with each other and everything in their path, jesper trying to hide that he’s grisha from her, nina meeting wylan and immediately feeling the wesper chemistry ahh. maybe nina will confide in jesper about matthias too and maybe they’ll set up the plot for getting him out of hellgate

i can’t wait oh my saints

yes, but have you ever thought about a truly modern crows au?

inej being the first one up, making herself a breakfast of avocado toast and eggs, watching with barely suppressed amusement as jesper staggers home at dawn.

wylan scrawling everyone's coffee order on his hands, because he forgot jesper likes sugar that one time, and kuwei has never looked so smug in his entire life.

matthias trying to find the perfect christmas gifts, and scouring every store known to man, obsessively keeping track of every item he staggers upon.

kaz idly taking grapes and strawberries from inej's plate when she glances the other way, and laughing when she glowers at him, and inej stealing bites of his chocolate cake in retaliation.

nina buying her friends gifts every time she goes out; silver blade earrings, a new set of watercolours, ice skates, a shining revolver, a pair of leather gloves.

and inej remembers every birthday, and kaz is always willing to explain some new aspect of their classes, and wylan gifts these fucking stunning paintings that make the crows want to cry, and jesper's embraces feel like hope, and nina shouts goodnight through the walls at the same time every night, and matthias is always the one to run out for pizza, because the others get lost on the first right turn, and just them
