Preston got word from a couple of former Minutemen, Jace and Landon, long assumed deceased, or at least missing. Disillusioned in the militia after the death of General Becker, they had followed James Wire to Libertalia. But as the group of ex-militia turned away from simple mercenary work to outright raiding, they made a plan to escape.
They had to fight their way out, and while they didn’t like having to shoot at their former brothers-in-arms, they did what they had to do get out of a situation they could no longer live with. Once free, they hunkered down in the ruins of Nahant, scraping a life together as best they could, fishing and scavenging while hiding from Wire’s crew, and any other hostiles who made their way onto the peninsula.
They were attracted to the old Croup Manor, a large mansion still in remarkably good shape, but overrun by feral ghouls, far more of them than the two men felt they could safely handle.
Word got around to them through the caravans that travel the ‘Wealth about the new General, but it wasn’t until they saw the fall of Libertalia at her hands that they decided to reconnect with their former militia and sent word about their location, suggesting we look into taking Croup Manor for the Minutemen.

Red Rocket Boston’s armor shop (I don’t have any clever name for it, sadly).
The vendor is Lou, a tier 4 armor merchant from the Recruitable settlers mod.
I don’t actually wear that Sugar Bombs power armor. I don’t use PA at all, really, but I went a grabbed a suit just to decorate Lou’s shop.

That dog is constantly looking at the camera and it's actually unnerving, especially on those stairs, all crooked like.
Did you just call my dog crooked? I’ll have you know, Dogmeat is always 100% perfectly aligned. Get your eyes checked.

Dorothy’s Surrender, the Slog’s own poolside couture shop. The world is a mess, but you don’t have to be! Bring your stained and torn old rags and let Dorothy work her magic, restoring them to their pristine, prewar state. Or buy something better, because you don’t really want to be seen in that, do you?
Dorothy is a tier 4 clothing merchant (from the Recruitable Settlers mod). She wasn’t getting a lot of business holed up behind the Four Leaf Fishpacking plant (Feral ghouls have literally zero fashion sense. Some of them are still wearing the same filthy rags they’ve had on since before the war! And we won’t speak of the one whose clothes have just rotted away altogether), but she did enjoy the view of the water. Now at the Slog, she can enjoy her poolside location and her more fashionable non-feral ghoul clientele. Well, at least they can dress themselves, which is a huge step up. Most importantly, her new home features the exquisite luxury of a walk in closet.

What mods do you use for decorating your settlements? ❤️
Hi, there!
I have a Resources page here: https://bourbonandsugarbombs.tumblr.com/resources
where I have most of the settlement mods I use linked. Thank you for the reminder to update that with some new mods I’ve added! Hopefully you can find whatever you need in that list. But feel free to ask about any specific thing you see in a specific screenshot or photo set, I can probably tell you exactly what it came from. =)

Lauren and John moved into my Boston Red Rocket settlement and set up a pharmacology operation in the patio area below the old fuel station. Lauren cooks and handles the sales, while John grows. They share a small shack behind their shopfront.

The Boston Red Rocket general store is pretty much my personal trophy museum. The Grognak and Silver Shroud outfits are on display here, along with the Mascot Head, Agatha’s Dress and Lorenzo’s suit. Sadly, Lorenzo’s unique headgear was not lootable, so I gave his mannequin an eyebot helmet I picked up off a Rust Devil to complete the outfit. The DC guard outfit was acquired honestly. Well, I stole it off a dead guard, but I didn’t personally murder him for his clothes just so I could display them.

So, I posted some pics recently of the bus shack I built in the Boston Red Rocket. And I just saw a post of tips about settlement building that specifically noted that beds placed in buses aren’t counted as ‘sheltered beds’ and therefore negatively impact your happiness rating.
Which was something I already knew, but that post made me feel a little bad for not mentioning it in my post. Because I use a mod that makes all beds count as sheltered beds. Which means you could be a dick and just drop beds on ground and stupid settlers would be ‘this is fine’. But it’s also useful for when you make beds that should really count as sheltered, like inside a bus.
So, here’s that mod if you want to make a bus shack but also want your settlers to be happy. Sheltered Beds

Here we are at Quincy Quarries.
Piper and Hancock don’t exactly get what a ‘family summer vacation photo album’ is, but they put up with me asking them to pose in front of signs and memorials so I can take a picture.

Red Rocket Boston, the Bus Shack
Of all the things I’ve done with the Boston Red Rocket, I think the bus shack is my favorite.
