Let's face it, the proper way for Amanda to handle this would've been as follows: Sam makes clear that she does not want Tory there, no matter what Amanda says. And Daniel can't help but side with Sam on account of what Tory did. With it becoming clear that Sam refuses to calm down until Tory is gone, Amanda tells Tory to leave. After Tory leaves, Amanda and Daniel give Sam space to calm down.

So they call a family meeting. Amanda apologizes to Daniel and Sam for not telling them that Tory was there. And in turn, both sides make their cases. Sam is allowed to just rant and vent, calling out all of Tory's crimes, while Amanda tries to explain about Tory's problematic home life (only for Sam to shut her down by pointing out, "her home life has nothing to do with what she did to me. Tory did those things to me because she's a petty individual") and Daniel tries unsuccessfully to play mediator.

It takes some time, but they eventually come to terms like: Tory is not allowed to be near Sam, and is not allowed to contact her or anyone in Miyagi-Do (with a threat of "mess with Sam again, and we'll have you arrested for breaking into our house"), Tory and Sam both have to go to therapists, and Tory has to give a public apology at a school assembly.

I think Tory needs to definitely apologise to all who were harmed in the fight. And the fact that she egged Hawk to break Demetri’s arm has never even be brought up. I’m glad Robby called Hawk out on his bs when he was a cobra and vice Versa, but it wouldn’t hurt for Tory to do the same. Instead it feels the writers have given her a terrible home life to balance out the apologies- or lack of. She seems like she’s one of the characters that never called out for her past crimes.

This scene really irked me. They couldn’t see Sam’s POV, especially Amanda. You have to understand Sam’s frustration here-to allow Tory back in school who started the school fight. Like she said ‘Maybe I don’t wanna get my face torn off…’ I think it shows that Sam is still vulnerable and not the brat some of the fandom claims her to be.

Sometimes I think Sam should've been allowed to start the cafeteria fight, then have Miguel join in to help her, and they start dating by the start of episode 6.

Yeah it would’ve been great, but I feel that was Miguel’s moment to get back at Kyler. He tried to defend Sam’s honour at the Halloween dance, but failed and now he was able to beat Kyler.

And this also goes to Tory stans too. Sam had a right to be angry at her for having kept it for so long. She could’ve left way before, but chose to stay. Even after Robby came to the dojo, she refused to leave. Yeah she was being used by Kreese, but he ditched her anyway and like she said to Robby that she was a big girl and nobody tells her what to do. Lol so what was Kreese doing???

She could’ve easily gone to Amanda- it’s funny how the writers didn’t use this relationship from season 4.

I could write an essay on this lol, but I won’t. I agree with some bits. I think the writers hate her character, because they always put her in situations, which ends in fan backlash. I definitely feel the narrative hasn’t favoured her. When she’s supposed to be the victim, writers have framed her as the bad guy- as the unreasonable one, who starts the fights. Not enough explanation is given to her motives, and fans just base it on what they see.

What do you think would happen in 1x03 if Sam saved Miguel from Kyler's gang at the Halloween dance? Like, while walking by the boy's locker room, Sam hears the sounds of a fight going on. Investigating, she finds Kyler and some of his friends beating up Miguel. Seeing Kyler hurting someone, Sam immediately steps in and beats up Kyler and his crew...

Hmm… interesting. I think it might jump start their relationship earlier and maybe she’d get to meet Johnny and see how he cares for Miguel. That might give Sam a different perspective of what Johnny’s cobra Kai is about, rather than hear the usual spiel from her dad about it.

Let's not forget how quick Tory was to break her promise to stay away from Sam.

Or that Tory only swallowed her pride and turned to Amanda because of that visit from her aunt.

Well Tory had to swallow her pride and finally ask for help. I don’t get why couldn’t have gone to Kreese. But this was purely to push Sam into a corner and make her seem the unreasonable one (thanks writers!) And yeah to turn up to prom and do a choreographed dance number in front of Sam and Miguel, well that’s being petty. It was just to get a rise out of them.
