How to make a theme

My base code was getting outdated. Instead of making another base code, I decided to make an interactive tutorial on how to make a tumblr theme from scratch. It also includes a basic html tutorial. 

Features:

9 detailed lessons explaining how html works and what tumblr’s blocks and variables mean

An (optional) quiz to review html

Interactive jsfiddle code at the end

A “base” (it’s technically a base code, but it’s just the bare minimum for getting posts and captions to show up)

Includes how to use regular captions, or dashboard captions using the blocks and variables @bychloethemes found/put together 

And this is only the beginning! I will release a second one for CSS specifically.

In order to celebrate SELENA DAY and the fact that the flawless queen of Tex-Mex will finally be getting her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, here’s a masterlist of cool plots inspired by some of her most popular songs! All of these plots were all thought and writtern by yours truly while I listened to Selena for hours. 🍕🌹

Bidi Bidi Bom Bom: MUSE A works as a barista in a coffee shop MUSE B frequents. Every time MUSE A is behind the counter and they see MUSE B enters the coffee shop, their legs begin shaking, and their heart starts beating like crazy. One day MUSE A finally decides they will exchange more than a couple of words with MUSE B. Of course, everything goes wrong and their nerves get the best of them. They end up spilling coffee all over the counter and even gets some on MUSE B clothes. They think their plan failed, but then MUSE B confesses that while having to go to work/school with coffee stains all over them isn’t ideal, it would be worth it since they finally got an excuse to muster enough courage to talk to MUSE A after purposely going to the same coffee shop every day to see them. 

Como La Flor: After being high school sweethearts, MUSE A and MUSE B break up once it’s time to part ways and got to college. They swear they will remain friends, but distance is too much for them and they slowly stop talking. Years pass, and MUSE A is still pinning after their old flame. So, when a wedding invitation arrives, old feelings arise. They struggle with this and decide to try and see if MUSE B feels the same way. After spending some time reminiscing and talking to MUSE B, MUSE A realizes that their fruitless attempts to go back to what they had in high school are both useless and unfair to MUSE B’s significant other. Ultimately, they wish them good luck and walk away. 

Amor Prohibido: MUSE A is rather privileged, born with a silver spoon in their mouth. MUSE B is a struggling student working as a part-time waiter. They meet during a party MUSE A is hosting and MUSE B is working at, and MUSE A instantly feels something for MUSE B and asks them out. A relationship is born, and MUSE A’s parents are instantly against this, not wanting MUSE A to date someone that is not on their level. MUSE B is in love and does not care. Instead of backing off, they decide to prove MUSE A’s family wrong, showing them that it does not matter that they don’t come from a rich background, what matters is that they love MUSE B.

Dreaming Of You: MUSE A has been a huge fan of MUSE B, a famous actor, since the beginning of their career. After spending years not only supporting them but pinning after them as well, they finally get a chance to meet them. They win a fan contest, allowing them to finally meet MUSE B in person. Surprisingly, MUSE A catches MUSE B attention and they ask them out, thus, marking the beginning of a complicated relationship where MUSE A will have to deal with the press, the paparazzi, and the stans after it’s announced MUSE B is no longer single.

Baila Esta Cumbia: MUSE A is a new participant in a dancing show on TV, and are assigned as MUSE B partner. They soon begin bonding after spending hours and hours together. Their chemistry is so good, they’re quick to become one of the favorite couples on the show. The fans are quick to notice this and begin shipping them. The press joins in, as well as the judges who begin joking about how close they are. At first MUSE A and MUSE B dismisses this and insist that they’re friends, but as the grand finale approaches, they realize they’ve fallen for each other.

El Chico Del Apartamento 512: MUSE A and MUSE B live right next to each other in an apartment complex. MUSE A has always felt attracted towards MUSE B, but they haven’t had a chance to make a move. MUSE A has even channeled their feelings for MUSE B on love letters for them, although they’ve never had the guts to actually send them. After an unfortunate run-in with a dirty old man, MUSE A heads to their apartment, only to be greeted by MUSE B and their smile. This gives MUSE A enough courage to finally confess their feelings, but when they knock on MUSE B’s door, a blonde girl opens the door. Defeated, MUSE A is ready to retreat when the blonde asks them if they’re there to see MUSE B, their sibling.

I Could Fall In Love: MUSE A and MUSE B are complete opposites. MUSE A is pretty nerdy and rather innocent, while MUSE B is a badass, edgy musician covered in tattoos. They both work together, and are friendly towards each other, though MUSE B does harbor a secret crush for MUSE A. MUSE B is unusually scared and doubtful, not knowing if they should confess their feelings and see if MUSE A feels the same way.

Fotos Y Recuerdos: MUSE A meets MUSE B at a party and instantly hit it off. They are in the first stages of dating when MUSE B is forced to move to a different country so they decide to break things off. MUSE A tried to move on but is unable to do so. MUSE B is affected by the separation as well, even more so given that they had to start a new life. One of MUSE B only sources of comfort is a photograph of the night they met MUSE A. After months of struggling with their feelings, MUSE A approaches MUSE B and suggest the idea of starting a long distance relationship. MUSE B accepts almost immediately.
