Easy but Common Spelling Mistakes To Avoid In Your Writing! (Part 2)

More spelling mistakes! If not caught, these little errors can distract from the story you're trying to tell, and, if there's too many, may even cause a potential reader to lose interest. Some of the ones on thus list are errors that I consistently make. If you find yourself mixing one of these up a lot, you it may be worth it to ctrl+F it to check all for ay mistakes!

Rain (from the sky) - Rein (on a horse) - Reign (over a kingdom)

Effect (an impact) - Effect (to bring about) - Affect (cause an impact) - Affect (emotion)

Ensure (guarantee) - Assure (give confidence) - Insure (give insurance )

Capital (major city, big letter, money) - Capitol (where the US Congress meets)

Principal (director, main, money) - Principle (belief, truth)

Except (exclude) - Accept (include)

Compliment (praise) - Complement (they go nicely together)

Councillor (member of a council) - Counselor (advisor)

Council (governing body) - Counsel (advice, therapy)

Advice (a recommendation) - Advise (to give recommendations)

Breath (inhalation and exhalation) - Breathe (to inhale and exhale)

Singing (music with the voice) - Singeing (burning)

Cloth (linen) - Clothe (to put clothes on)

Bath (a tub of water) - Bathe (to clean oneself)

Discrete (incremental) - Discreet (innocuous)

Elicit (provoke) - Illicit (illegal)

Hanger (holds clothes) - Hangar (holds aircraft)

Loose (not tight) - Lose (not win, no longer have)

Error (a mistake) - Err (make a mistake) - Heir (younger relative who inherits a legacy - Air (the kind you breathe)

Heroine (feminine hero) - Heroin (hard drug)
