Powers of Ten takes us on an adventure in magnitudes. Starting at a picnic by the lakeside in Chicago, this famous film transports us to the outer edges of the universe. Every ten seconds we view the starting point from ten times farther out until our own galaxy is visible only a s a speck of light among many others. Returning to Earth with breathtaking speed, we move inward- into the hand of the sleeping picnicker- with ten times more magnification every ten seconds. Our journey ends inside a proton of a carbon atom within a DNA molecule in a white blood cell.

Informative Frischetheke – Orientierungshilfe für den Einkauf by fabian kreuzer // Informative Frischetheke – Orientierungshilfe für den Einkauf In Supermärkten bekommt man Lebensmittel aus aller Welt, nähere Auskunft über Transportwege oder Aufzucht dagegen eher selten.  Besonders hinter den Produkten der Frischetheke verbergen sich eine Vielzahl an Informationen, die wir mit unserem Thekenkonzept auf einfache Art für den Kunden sichtbar machen. Für den geübten Koch lassen sich Angebote, Bezeichnungen und Preise den Produkten leicht zuordnen, für alle anderen Kunden kann die Zeit an der Theke schnell zum munteren „Produkteraten“ werden. Um dies zu vermeiden, kann der Kunde in unserem Konzept auf das gewünschte Produkt oder Angebot zeigen und schon wird die Bezeichnung sowie der Preis direkt darüber dargestellt. Das Zeigen ist eine einfache Geste und wird von den meisten Kunde bisher schon zur Kommunikation mit dem Fachpersonal genutzt. Sobald ein Kunde auf ein Produkt zeigt wird dieses heller beleuchtet. Dadurch erhält nicht nur der Kunde ein direktes Feedback, sondern auch die Fachkraft hinter der Theke weiß nun, welches Produkt der Kunde meint. Tiefergehende Informationen kann sich der Kunde einfach greifen und diese werden dann neben dem Produkt dargestellt. Hierfür liegen gruppiert in kurzen Abständen immer drei Objekte aus, die für Produktinformationen, Herkunft und Rezeptvorschläge stehen. Diese Informationen können auf Wunsch mit auf den Kassenzettel gedruckt werden. In die Auslegeschale ist ein RFID-Chip, ein Display und eine Waage integriert. Die integrierte Waage sorgt dafür, dass dem Kunden sofort Gewicht und Preis seines Einkaufs angezeigt werden. Zudem wird dem Personal die Arbeit erleichtert, da das Eingeben der Produktnummer entfällt. Natürlich kann auch das Smartphone mit der Theke verbunden werden, um die Produkte aus der Einkaufs-App einfach an der Theke zu finden. Unsere Bachelorarbeit verspricht letztlich also sowohl für den einzelnen Kunden wie auch für das Thekenpersonal eine große Erleichterung: Während der Kunde bei Bedarf an nähere Informationen zu den Lebensmitteln kommt, entlastet er durch seine eigene Orientierung an der Theke auch das Personal. Davon profitieren beide Gruppen. Ein Ansatz also, der nicht nur in der Theorie, sondern vor allem auch in der Praxis seinen Wert entfaltet.
