hey everyone! i want to first off thank everyone for your support bc it's meant a lot to me throughout this whole shitshow <3 in better news too, for everyone following the last 4 months of my life and how shitty those have been, i've been grinding my butt off over on twitch and i'll be eligible to get paid next month! not an insane amount, by any means, but enough to cover some bills which i'm so excited about because it means things are turning around.
as of right now, shit's still pretty rough and there's no way to get an advanced payout so i'll have to wait until the 12th for that. i've sold pretty much everything i could sell that i own, and i've been doing some odd translation jobs but it just hasn't even remotely come close to something livable for me. i have around 20€ to my name and that's because a friend was kind enough to help me.
i have to show up at everyone's doorstep on tumblr dot com standing at the doorway, but i know in a different time i would've urged anyone to ask for help every single time they needed it so i'm taking a page out of my own book and putting this out there in case anyone wants to help <3 it'd mean so much to me if you could reblog, but either way thank you for letting me step on my soapbox and have a beautiful day! this is my p*ypal <3

I don't think people truly realise how Qstudio's response to the revelations has been and still is extremely unprofessional. Ghosting people you exploited for a year because you're what, scared of leaks? Is unacceptable behaviour.
(Angry rant below)
Like, to be clear, it is obvious to me that they haven't recruited any Human Ressources yet because this shit wouldn't fly in a normal workplace.
You have a lot of exploited ex employees left on read, asking for a private DISCUSSION for 2 months now.
All the somewhat relevant announcements were made thru public streams, in a language they know not all their ex employees understand.
They relied on volunteer labor (the fans') to translate their official annoucement instead of, you know, doing it themselves (and not just in english but all the language they prided themselves to have included in the project)
And even then, the announcements are so vague and unhelpful that we might as well not have them.
Let's be real. They don't consider these ex employees as such. They consider them formerly privileged fans that are now ruining it for everyone. People they think are a pain in the ass and would rather not deal with for now. At least, that's the message their behaviour is sending.
This is an extreme caricature of bad management, except it's in real life.
Their only saving grace is that Quackity, his friends, and the project are beloved by fans. If it were any other company, i can guarantee you that there would be zero support because they objectively don't deserve it after this much shit.

I'm just. Idk man.
Obviously they want us to trust that everything is okay behind the scene by bringing back Chayanne and Tallulah like "See? They're back! And theyre doing lore!! So dont worry!" And i want to believe that but I don't understand why they can't just. Make an official announcement. Not make people guess what they mean. Stop the entertainement train for 2 seconds to actually confirm that changes happened.
Why is the returning of previously unpaid employees with no actual confirmation that they are paid now treated like a fun lore moment? Why is every important decision always announced in such an indirect manner? Why do we have to guess their intentions and make a leap of faith every time something new happens?
I mean I know the answer, this is to keep the fans hooked, not reminding fans of the studio's mistakes and let the streamers who put all their eggs in the QSMP basket (ha) continue creating interesting content on the mostly empty server... but why does this take priority over contacting the people that were exploited?
They could have had both. They could have had this "the show must go on" attitude without ghosting all the victims. They could have tried to make it less public without relying on the fans'past attachment to the project to keep trusting them.
We are not privy to any detail, but if we had had confirmation from ex admins that they were being heard and would be solving things privately, i would have accepted it and trusted the process. But alas, that's not what happened... (maybe it's happening rn but our last update was apparently from sunnys admin 4 days ago saying that they had no update, so you know)

do we know for sure that chay and tallulah aren’t being paid? did either of them mention on twitter that they haven’t been compensated yet? /genq i took a breather from tumblr for a few days because i was getting too stressed about the situation
if they aren’t being paid that means that quackity saying “we won’t have roleplay admins until we can properly compensate them” and “we won’t hire anymore volunteers” would have been lies. which is just as bad, if not worse

I am quite frankly disappointed in Quackity Studios for continuing to prioritize running the server over communicating with and compensating their ex and (some) current employees. It's made it so that when I see people talking about what's happening on the server, I can only think of the people who were taken advantage of and abused by the company.
If you lost a follow or got blocked, that's why. Nothing personal.

It's genuinely so sick and twisted that quackity studios keep pumping out new content without any mention of properly compensating their former workers for the time and effort they put in to make the server a success.

I've definitely lost all faith in Quackity Studios actually doing the right thing here. I don't even know if they could at this point: I don't think they have the organization or budget that is required to properly pay their former workers and rebuild any semblance of trust with the people they have ostracized, abused, and disappointed. I would love to be wrong but I just don't see this happening.
It was an ambitious project that went too far too soon: without a clear way to financially support itself it still continued to bring on new people that it had no intention of paying despite promising that they would eventually be compensated for their time. They focused too much on making things new, exciting, bigger than ever before, when they easily could have (and imo should have) stepped back and let the extremely talented ccs and admins they already had take the reins and steer the servers story in a much more organic way.
I'll always love the positive things the qsmp was able to accomplish: the connections made by ccs and by fans that would have never happened without it, the amazing story lines that the ccs developed, the proof of concept that real time in-game translation can break down so many language barriers in an incredible way. But knowing that all of this stood on the backs of under and unpaid workers, pushed to work hard with unrealistic demands and unfair, hypocritical rules and restrictions, has definitely tainted the server.
