i'm no pro either but yeah, "e" ie red (chestnut) is a recessive gene that friesians can have, but if they have one "E" gene (that makes them black/bay) it'll be... well, recessive and hidden by a black coat. so if two friesians have that recessive red, it can produce a foal that is chestnut. only some bloodlines actually have the red gene though, so they're rare. mares and geldings are "allowed" to be chestnut, but stallions need to be black. a purebred white friesians isn't possible, though, since that gene simply doesn't exist in the genepool. i guess it *can* be a mutation, but that's unlikely, and it'd not be accepted by registries
so yeah friesians aren't the most diverse in terms of coat color. there's black, black, black and maybe secret chestnut 💀
WEE WOO FRIESIAN REMAKE COLORS JUST DROPPED

it makes me feel a kind of way when i see SSO complaints that are just players not understanding very basic game and business logic.
"why don't they add XYZ?" SSO's framework is over a decade old, it has limitations as to what they can do.
"why are there always bugs when an update is released?" because not all bugs can be found in testing. this happens with every single game out there; there are singleplayer games from 15 years ago still getting bug fixes to this day.
"why does Star Rider cost $80?" you are getting over a DECADE of content, in the form of areas, quests, and star rider exclusives, as well as a weekly allowance of paid currency, for LIFE! A MAJORITY of MMOs charge annually ONLY, and a lot of those also charge you for new areas in the form of expansions on top of being billed monthly, half-yearly, or yearly.
"why don't they just remake SSO?" That's like deciding to tear down a mansion because you want to add a room onto it. Building games is HARD. And it costs a LOT of money.
"why does everything cost star coins, or a ridiculous amount of shillings?" because most of the playerbase bought lifetime membership YEARS ago; those funds have LONG since been used. SSE's revenue is mostly likely coasting on star coin sales.
"why isn't SSE more transparent about things?" Probably because of how consistently there's backlash to the smallest things. It doesn't look good for interested new players when your playerbase is actively hostile about the game, especially on official posts. The best damage control is to not cause damage in the first place.
SSE aren't saints or without fault, but I will say. I've been playing consistently for almost a year now, and they have fulfilled every promise they've made so far. And it's A LOT considering what was the starting product. Enjoy what we have! Celebrate the progress! And continue to anticipate and encourage what's to come!

yea- the reason it works for genshin/honkai is because they're both gacha games. when you spend their premium currency, you have no idea if you'll actually get what you want. you can spend all your f2p money on nothing, urging you to still buy premium money. it's literally gambling, and we know how addictive that can be, how it can urge someone into spending for completion. but in sso, there is no risk or chance or luck. if you spend sc on a horse, you are getting that exact horse. buying it again won't power-up the existing one (like getting doubles in genshin/honkai does). you have your horse, end of. so easily giving players sc doesn't help ssohq at all. it just gives us opportunities to spend less real money. maybe a weekly commission thing COULD work with limits, though. as a motivator to log in and play, which in turn might motivate someone to buy sc because they're simply active players. 100 extra sc per week probably won't happen though. i doubt it'll be more than these free codes we've gotten the past 2 months
man wouldn't it be so cool if there was such a thing as daily commissions on sso
like. sure, we have daily tasks; that long ass list of nothing-burger content that gives you like 25 JS each.
but what if there were daily tasks that could earn sc?? this is coming from a genshin + honkai player where you can earn the special currency through certain tasks or purchases, which is what made me think of it for sso. of course, the systems made for spending that special currency is completely different across the two genres (i'd call sso a leisure game whereas genshin + honkai are gacha) so some things would have to be tweaked.
imagine, however, there were four or five "special" dailies that could earn you sc! i would put the number between 10-25 - though i absolutely know 25 is pushing it when it comes to sse's stinginess - per quest. these dailies would be located between moorland and fort pinta so f2p players could earn sc. if there were to be five quests, i think it would make sense to have the fifth be a larger sum of sc ; probably 15 instead of 10, and 30 instead of 25. additionally, this higher rewarding daily quest would be in a star rider only area of the map.
by having a daily task system that rewards players with sc, players will be encouraged to spend more time in game. the reason they've added all of this grind-y type "gameplay" (rhiannon rune runner quests, new druid stuff in hollow woods) is to boost play time, but keep rewards at a minimum. if they added an incentive to keep playing (like f2p players playing daily to save up for a new horse or clothing item, or current star riders putting in the time to add a little more to their sc allowance) then more people might continue to play the game.
i know all sse cares about is squeezing every last drop of cash from unwitting children, and i know that the daily commission system isn't exactly made to fit a leisure game such as sso, but if what they want is increased play time, perhaps this might could be a step in the right direction.
