explanation of fajr
Salam, Can you help me please ? What is fajr? How can we recognize it without using clocks ? I mean dhur and asr and maghrib and isha moments are easy to recognize (by looking at the sun!) but what about fajr? In my country fajr is at 4:08 am for example and when I look outside my window it's complete dark! Like just the middle of the night ! Therefore I feel like I'm performing a second isha prayer! Plus I once read about something called "fake fajr" which would apparently be a wrong -
Continuation of question:
-calculation of fajr hour by some countries (or something like that)! I don’t know what to do and what I think I’m vey confused! Especially with Ramadan coming! (This is my year praying and fasting that’s why)! When is fajr? Middle of the night ? When the sun is out ? First lights of the sun ? I hope you can help me! Thank you (and please make dua Allah forgives me if I did my prayers wrong time :( )

Walaikum As’salaam,
Please kindly note: I’m not a scholar or one with extensive Islamic knowledge so I can only advise you based on the research I’ve found and personal experience. I highly encourage you to further research the matter and seek advice from others  with more reliable Islamic knowledge (i.e. a scholar or imam, etc) than myself. c:
The Prophet (SalAllahu Alaihi wasallam) said:
“You will see your Rubb (Lord) in the Hereafter as you see this moon having no difficulty in seeing it. So try your best to perform the prayers before the rising of the sun and that before its setting.” — Al-Bukhari and Muslim
The case of a man who slept all the night up to sunrise (without waking up for Fajr) was related to the Prophet (sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam) whereupon he said: “That was a man in whose ear Shaytaan has urinated”, or he said “in both his ears”.
“Offer the morning prayer in the light of the morning, for this is greater for your reward.”
— Sunan al-Tirmidhî (154)
The following passage may help insha’Allah:
This hadith is found in Sunan al-Tirmidhî (154). It is an authentic hadîth, and this has been demonstrated by Ibn al-Qattân [Bayân al-Wahm wa al-Ihâm (2512)] and Ibn Taymiyah [Majmû` al-Fatâwâ (22/97)] This hadith refers to the preferred time to offer the Fajr (Morning) Prayer. Scholars disagree as to how it should be interpreted. They agree, however, that the timeframe for the Fajr prayer is from dawn to sunrise. In his encyclopedic legal reference al-Mughnî, Ibn Qudâmah asserts that there is scholarly consensus that the time for the Fajr prayer commences with the arrival of the true dawn. The true dawn can be distinguished from the false dawn in that it appears as a clear white line along the horizon. The time for the Fajr prayer comes to an end with the start of sunrise. The evidence for this is as follows: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “The time for the morning prayer is from the arrival of dawn up until sunrise.” [Sahîh Muslim (173)] He also said: “Whoever offers one unit of the morning prayer before sunrise has achieved the morning prayer.” [Sahîh al-Bukhârî (579) and Sahîh Muslim (608)] Once, someone came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and asked about the timeframe of the prayers. The Prophet (peace be upon him) did not give him any answer (as he preferred to demonstrate the answer by action). He ordered Bilâl to offer the call for the Fajr prayer so that it could be performed at the crack of dawn. The people could barely make out each other’s features. On the following day, he delayed Fajr so much that, when the people had finished praying, someone commented that the Sun was rising or was just about to rise. Then he summoned the questioner and said: “The timeframe for the prayers is between these two times”  [Sahîh Muslim (614)]

Islamicfinder usually provides fairly accurate timings, you can try checking your local Fajr timings there insha’Allah. :)
I hope I was able to help at least a bit, insha’Allah. :) As always, I enourage you to confirm and ask someone with reliable Islamic knoweldge such as an Islamic scholar or Imam, insha’Allah. May Allah (SWT) bless you and forgive all your sins, Ameen. Remember Allah (SWT) looks at intention, insha’Allah He will not punish you even if you prayed at the incorrect time because it was not done so intentionally and your intention was to pray Fajr, so don’t worry! :D
Please remember me in your duas as well insha’Allah, JazkaAllah Khair. :)

Dua for the First Day of Ramadhan O Allah be pleased with my fasts, in this month, as Thou gives credit to those who (sincerely) observe fasts; and (be pleased with) my special night prayers, in this month, as Thou give credit to those who pray (sincerely) in the night; direct me to be on guard and pay attention to free myself from the lethargy of forgetfulness; O the God of the worlds overlook my wrongdoings, and grant amnesty to me, O He who shows sympathy to the wrongdoers

Ramadan Revelations: Day One
"The only people who truly believe in Our messages are those who, when they are reminded of them, fall into Sujood (Prostration), celebrate their Lord’s praises, and do not think themselves above this.
Their sides shun their beds in order to pray to their Lord in fear and hope; they give to others some of what We have bestowed upon them.”
(Surat As-Sajdah | Verses 15 & 16)
Allah (swt) in His Glory descends to the lower heavens to listen to those who call upon Him! Then why waste the blessed first 20 nights and wait for the last 10 nights? We can make this Ramadan more productive and beneficial than last year. WE CAN!!

we're fasting, alhamdulillaah
Tumblr media
It is related from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, “Fasting is a shield, so people should not have sexual relations nor act stupidly. If someone fights them or insults them, they should say, ‘I am fasting’ twice. By the One in whose hand my self is, the changed breath in the mouth of the faster is more fragrant to Allah Almighty than the scent of musk. [He says], ‘He has left his food and drink and appetites for My sake. Fasting is Mine and I repay it. Any other good deed I repay with ten like it.’” - Sahih Al Bukhari #1795

Ramadan Revelations: Day Two
"No human ever filled a vessel worse than the stomach. Sufficient for any son of Adam are some morsels to keep his back straight. But if it must be, then one third for his food, one third for his drink and one third for his breath."
[Ahmad, At-Tirmidhi, An-Nasaa’I, Ibn Majah]
Some Benefits of Eating & Drinking in Moderation :
Ibn Masaweh, a Muslim doctor, said after reading this hadith: "If the people only used these words, they would avoid all diseases and maladies and the clinics and pharmacies would be idle."
Another doctor, Al-Harith ibn Kalada said: That which has killed mankind is the introduction of food on top of food before it has been digested.
As for spiritual benefits: humbleness of heart, strength of understanding, lessening of lower desires, lessening of personal opinions and anger, while overeating induces the opposites of all of those. Al-Hassan Al-Basri (RA) said: "O, son of Adam, eat with one third of your stomach and drink with one third and leave one third of your stomach to breathe so that you may think."
Imam Ash-Shafi’i said: I have not filled myself in sixteen years because filling oneself makes the body heavy, removes clear understanding, induces sleep and makes one weak for worship.
The best generations didn’t. Our Prophet (upon him be Peace) said "The best generation is my generation, followed by the one after them then the one after them. Then will come a people who bear witness but are not asked to bear witness, who swear oaths but do not fulfill them and fatness will appear among them." (Muslim & Bukhari).
