EDC 2020 CANCELLED 💔

it had to be done... 

how are you all feeling about this news? 

while i was still holding on to hope, i knew that a festival of this caliber and capacity was not going to be feasible for the foreseeable future.

i’m glad that pasquale and the insomniac team came to this decision. it is in the best interest of all of us festival-goers in order to ensure a safe and healthy return to live music events when the time does come.

edc las vegas 2021 was always in the calendar for me. my friends and i have been planning it for a long time now as a graduation present to ourselves. with that being said, i know that getting tickets for 2021 will be borderline impossible. 2020 was already sold out, and the waitlist for 2021 will be extra lengthy due to everyone’s rave bug from this year! i’m remaining optimistic, however, and will for sure be hopping on the waitlist. fingers crossed 🤞

as always, i hope that you and your loved ones are well during this time. look out for one another, and i pray we will all be under the electric sky once again in may.

HOW I NAVIGATE NEW MUSIC FRIDAYS (EDM)

hey fam!

one question i hear often from friends & followers is, simply put: “how the hell do you manage to find and keep up with every release on NMFs?” 🤔

i do actually have a process when the day arrives each week, and the people i’ve shared it with began to use a similar method when the clock strikes midnight here. 

with that being said... here it is:

1. before midnight comes, i head over to dancing astronaut’s twitter. they post a master list tweet each thursday (sometimes friday) with, quite literally, every EDM release that’s set to happen that week from major artists. this is a great resource to make sure you don’t miss any of the big ones.

2. once midnight arrives, i start with my spotify release radar. if you’re as much of an EDM head like me and listen to the genre almost exclusively on the platform, the algorithm will work to your advantage on fridays. i listen to the playlist in order from start to finish. it usually has most of the titles that dancing astro listed, plus some gems from smaller/underground artists.

3. the next playlist i hit up is friday cratediggers on spotify. this one is fantastic because it’s HUGE. they have every new release you can think of, from smaller and larger artists alike. however; be warned that the playlist is much more house heavy than bass. if you’re solely into bass music, you’ll have to skip through a significant number of house tracks.

4. finally, i utilize my social networks. i recommend following people in the EDM space on socials if you really want to be constantly in tune with everything; even if it’s just friends you met from festivals. my group chats with fellow music friends are always flooded after 12am, and i make sure to listen through to what everyone’s liking. i find that fridays are a big instagram story day in this field as well because everyone is posting the new releases they’re listening to. this is usually my last stop-- i scroll through everyone’s stories to see if there’s anything important that i missed, or a track that they claim is worth checking out. twitter is also a huge platform for the EDM community, so i scroll through my timeline to see what everyone’s got on repeat.
