I stick with my hc that while Rollins may have told those words to Carisi after WV, she still lost sleep time to time thinking about what happened there and having some regrets. Adding on during the Al era. More sleep being lost. Believing she lost her chance with Carisi in the future. Even deciding to give him space after being turned down for drinks, not resuming their interrupted new years of what could have been and when he started dating Nicole.

I agree. I think she wanted to in WV, but let her fears win, so she didn’t. And then she regretted it, but the time was never right.

And then Al happened, and failed. She realizes then, that that is not who she wants to be with. She wants to do the right thing for her daughters, but it’s not with Al.

And so, she kind of hides in herself and walls her heart off. Because she feels like it’s safest for her and her girls.

And then Carisi happens. And he worms his way into her heart and makes her see how wonderful real love can be and how safe she can feel with a person.

And he keeps Nicole a secret not because he’s ashamed of her, but because he knows in his heart that it wasn’t going anywhere. He heart already belonged to a certain blonde cop and her two little daughters.

And he goes slow with Amanda. He takes his time making sure she knows he’s here for her and loves her more than anything.

And now they’re married with three kids! 😂😭🥺
