Spotlight: The Bad Ones by Melissa Albert
Today on the blog, I’m featuring The Bad Ones by Melissa Albert. This is the latest release from The Hazel Wood author, and while that series may have some light horror vibes, this one jumps right into the genre. The tone of this book reminds me of a cross between The Wicker King and Carrie. If either of those titles resonated with you, I think this one will be right up your alley. I would be…

Five 2023 Releases I Want to Read in 2024
This list is a testament to how lackluster my reading life was for 2023. It wasn’t that I didn’t read any good books. I just didn’t make the time to read. And it meant I missed out some new releases from some of my favorite authors. Here are some 2023 releases that I am appalled are still on my TBR, and I’m hoping to get to them in the first half of this year.
Zero Days by Ruth Ware – I’ve only…

"With her second book, Lacie Waldon has skyrocketed to the top of my 'must buy' list!" If I'm honest, I didn't think Lacie could top The Layover for me. I loved that book so much, and it made me nervous to pick up her next novel. Imagine my surprise when I loved FROM THE JUMP even more! This was a fabulous read, and if you're a fan of romance, you HAVE to pick this one up! My full review can be found on FreshFiction dot com.Thank you to Penguin Random House Audio for letting me listen to this one early! I was thrilled to be able to listen and review! “Center tackles momentous issues with a levity that makes them relatable to readers." I read my first Katherine Center book last year and am making my way through her back list. (It would go A LOT faster if I stopped rereading What You Wish For.) Reading The Bodyguard was a reminder of how much and why I love her writing! I cannot recommend this one enough. My full review can be found on FreshFiction dot com.Thank you to St. Martin's Press and Macmillan Audio for ecopy and audio ARCs of this one. I was thrilled to be able to read early and review! I HAVE BEEN WAITING TO LOVE A BOOK THIS MUCH! I'm not usually one to give in to the hype, and in my defense, it did take two years to cave. Seeing House of Earth and Blood all over Instagram and youTube as people reread in preparation for the second Crescent City book, my curiosity sparked and immediately caught fire. I checked this book out from the library, got 100 pages in, and promptly returned it to buy my own copy. I can tell this is a book I am going to want to read again and again. And who doesn't want a book this stunning on their book shelves? This is my first Sarah J. Maas, and I feel like I have really been missing out. I am so excited to be on board for this series! https://www.instagram.com/p/CaNOmNzLdBw/?utm_medium=tumblr

Cleanup from Blizzard 2022 is done! I'll be snuggling up with this beauty today and attempting to finish it. I'm loving the cast of characters in this book along with the spooky building. THIS has landed on my Kindle, so basically... DAY MADE! Goodreads blurb: April Coutts-Cliveden was the first person Hannah Jones met at Oxford. Vivacious, bright, occasionally vicious, and the ultimate It girl, she quickly pulled Hannah into her dazzling orbit. Together, they developed a group of devoted and inseparable friends—Will, Hugh, Ryan, and Emily—during their first term. By the end of the second, April was dead. Now, a decade later, Hannah and Will are expecting their first child, and the man convicted of killing April, former Oxford porter John Neville, has died in prison. Relieved to have finally put the past behind her, Hannah’s world is rocked when a young journalist comes knocking and presents new evidence that Neville may have been innocent. As Hannah reconnects with old friends and delves deeper into the mystery of April’s death, she realizes that the friends she thought she knew all have something to hide…including a murder. #RuthWare #Simon&Schuster #GalleryPress #BookBlogger #Mystery #Thriller #FavoriteAuthor #Bookstagram #TheItGirl #MostAnticipated https://www.instagram.com/ba_bamb/p/CZPGwJJri2s/?utm_medium=tumblr
