PART 3 OF SHIZUO/VORONA - Season 2, Final arc, Durarara.

This is continuation of my last post from this series about their scene from episode 7 of the final arc.

The falling debris meant for Shizuo comes down on Vorona because she'd pushed Shizuo out of harm's way.

She's now lying under a metal beam, not moving.

Shaken, Shizuo calls out to her, but she doesn't respond. So he reaches out to carefully remove the beam and places his hand on her shoulder.

"Vorona, hey, wake up!" He calls out again as he gingerly tries to shake her awake.

She slowly opens her eyes and looks at him. She tells him she's awake and then apologizes for not being able to step out of the way of the falling debris.

She had not meant for him to worry for her sake.

He's relieved that she's all right. But he scolds her for putting herself in danger for a guy like him.

These two idiots are seriously so cute. Both of them struggle with low self-esteem. And yet, both feel the other is better or more worthy of being protected than they themselves are.

Despite the fact that Vorona had just come clean to Shizuo for the very first time only moments ago. He still cares for her well-being.

And despite the fact that Vorona had thought she'd wanted to conquer Shizuo because he was the strongest man she'd ever met. And yet had nearly sacrificed herself to save his life when she knew him to be seemingly undefeatable.

Vorona then notices activity still happening on the roof above them.

She shouts out a warning to Shizuo, and that's when he looks up and realizes it is Izaya.

The bane of his existence. 🤬

I have a confession to make about my Shizuo/Vorona obsession.

It's true that I was absolutely getting story ideas when I was watching the last arc of Durarara season 2 in Nov 2023. But when I actually finished watching the show, the singular thing I really wanted Shizuo and Vorona to do was... have lots and lots of hot sex!

The show had left them at such a deliciously ripe spot. They were friends, and they were parting at an extremely positive place. Narratively, there was definitely a promise of a reunion. Anything and everything was possible.

And all I wanted was for them to bang.

🤣

But it had to be believable. I'm not one for PWPs. Do writers these days even use those terms? In any case, I need my sex to be extremely plotty.

So I came up with this whole storyline, which encompassed the 2 years of Shizuo’s life post-show, so that I could bring Vorona back in a way that made sense and get them to have believable sex.

Of course, I had to throw in slowburn angst and psychological torture in between. Couldn't make it too easy for them, could I?

Anyways. I know the main story is done. But my brain is still on overdrive. So I think I'll write more Shizuo/Vorona sexy times in the same universe. Which means, more plotty stuff in between.

PART 2 OF SHIZUO/VORONA - Season 2, Final arc, Durarara

This is continuation of my last post based on the same scene from episode 7, No Love Lost.

Vorona has just found out that Shizuo has known all along that she was the girl in the motorcycle helmet who attacked him at the Raira academy fields. And she's shocked to learn that he doesn't care. He cares for her. He wants to hear her side of the story.

He's protective of her, when Yagiri orders her to kill him, because by "Shizuo Logic", asking her to kill Shizuo means Yagiri is placing her in direct danger of being killed herself. Shizuo has no fear for his own safety. But he's incensed at the thought of Vorona being placed in danger. Even if it is at the cost of his own life being possibly endangered.

As much as Vorona is aware of how strong he is... at an instinctual level, she still deems him human. Capable of being hurt. She's been internally struggling with her own motivations all this time. Does she want to hurt him? That had been her initial goal. But what about the peace she found in his presence? And she's incapable of hurting him, isn't she? Is it because he's indestructible or because she doesn't really want to see him get hurt?

Then she catches sight of construction material being moved at the top of the building, right over where Shizuo is standing, and she realizes what's about to happen. It's going to fall on him, crush him. She has to save him.

She pushes him out of the way. But why? If he was indestructible, why save him? If she wanted him hurt, why push him to safety?

Oh... perhaps, this was why she had been hesitant to hurt him since she got to know him. It wasn't because he's impossible to defeat. But because... she doesn't want to see him hurt.

So she will sacrifice herself for him. Yep, that makes sense to her. 🤣

There's so many layers to their interactions. I just adore these two. 😭😍😚

I love the final arc of Durarara so much . The Shizuo/Vorona interaction is so good and angsty.

PART 1 of SHIZUO/VORONA - Season 2, Final arc, Durarara.

She was so lost here, without Shizuo, prior to arriving at this scene. Shizuo had been falsely accused and imprisoned a few days back, thanks to Izaya as usual, and she'd been manipulated by Izaya to take the job with Kujiragi. And then she'd just had the encounter with Shizuo outside the jail after he was released, and she knew her cover had been blown.

She was so lost and lonely, so forlorn at losing the peace of life she found with Shizuo. The man she had wanted to defeat but had been unable, and unwilling to all this time.

Here, she confessed to Shizuo that she was the woman who attacked him at the Raira academy fields months ago, only to learn that he'd known all along. And that he didn't care. He'd grown to care for her and was willing to listen to her side. That despite her apparent betrayal, he considered her a friend and was protective of her.

She'd never had that before. I love her conflict here. And everything that followed this moment.

These two are seriously so delicious together. I love them!

Ahhh I love this part in the light novels so much. And this translation shows even more nuance to the dialogues. 🥰

ETA: I have a question for anyone who might see this. Where does this specific translation come from? The version of light novels I found were published in English by Yen On/Yen Press. They're great, but the one this tumblr post is using is different.

“So? What were you going to ask me?” It was several minutes later. After somebody suggested that they at least move somewhere else first, they walked to a quieter spot further inside the park, and Shizuo asked them the question again. “Eh, yeah. That’s why we wanted more information on that Orihara Izaya bastard…but that guy’s hard to figure out. We don’t even know where he is, really…” “I want to know that myself. I’m going to beat him to death myself once I find out where he is…” Vorona, the Caucasian woman, asked in an even tone as she heard Shizuo’s words, “There exists a case about which I have been concerned since previously. Is the living being called Orihara Izaya a sworn enemy or something resembling the sort for Shizuo-sempai?” “No, Orihara Izaya is kind of like a flea. He’ll get close to you before you know it, and he’ll have sucked your blood when you realize that he’s here. He’s just a noxious insect like that, so make sure to never ever let him get close to you.” “I hereby declare my satisfaction. Agreement and understanding, achieved simultaneously.” Nodding as she spoke in strange Japanese, Vorona etched the name “Orihara Izaya” into her head. Back when she was a “freelancer” she had accepted a job from Izaya via her partner Slon to “injure Sonohara Anri”—but since she was not interested in her clients in general, she probably didn’t bother to ask for Izaya’s name or see his face. Even if she had, she would have forgotten about him. Without realizing that she had somehow gotten close to interacting with Izaya before, Vorona now associated the name Izaya firmly with the nickname “the flea.” The young men who heard this conversation, meanwhile, hastened to agree in unison. “Y-Yes! That’s exactly right! That Izaya is just a shitty bastard like that! Actually, our boss also said that he was going to kill him for real for stealing his girlfriend!” As he said these words, Tom said in a placating tone, “Hey, I understand how hard it is for him to have his girlfriend stolen, but could you not involve us in things that sound too extreme like killing and all that? “…It’s OK, Tom-san. When I do kill that guy, I’m going to make sure that no one gets in trouble because of it. Not you, not Vorona, not Manager or anyone else…” Shizuo spoke with a grave expression on his face. Tom cut in hurriedly, “No! That’s not the problem here…you see?! Besides, you can’t do it without anyone getting into trouble, it’s just not possible. Also—I’m going to keep telling you this until you really understand it—that kind of scum is just not worth ruining your own life for.” “…Well let’s just wish that the flea goes to rot somewhere else and never appears in my sight again, then…!” There Vorona cut in again.

“Carrying out murder, I have the confidence to accomplish leaving zero evidence. To eliminate the noxious insect called Izaya, there exist multiple ways.”

Shizuo frowned involuntarily as he heard his kouhai say these dangerous words.

“Oi, oi, you don’t say that kind of stuff even if it’s just kidding.” As if forgetting that he himself had already sworn that he’d “kill” Izaya several times today, Shizuo stroked Vorona’s head as he muttered:

“Knowing that’s how you feel is more than enough for me. Thank you.”

“…”

Vorona fell silent and looked up at Shizuo in the eye before averting her gaze.

…Shizuo and Vorona, they have a good thing going there…right? Well, they look like they’ve got something of that sort going…or do they?

Or is it just me?

The conversation that led to this was so dangerous that it was quite hard for Tom to make sense of what was happening right now.
