Hello! I'm a writer, normally go by Vi/Vee or Aaron. Pansexual, masculine-presenting genderfluid transsexual, greypansexual and panromantic. Hi, auto technician here. You know why all windows except the windshield shatter the way that they do? I mean, we can definitely replace them with glass that's far harder to shatter. But the way the entire window shatters into tiny pieces of safety glass is actually a safety feature. They shatter completely so that, in situations like this where the door can't be opened, the occupant can easily shatter the entire window and get out. Having windows that shatter isn't a bug, it's as much a safety feature as the way an engine mount and crush zone push the engine up or down in a crash.
I can barely stand for fifteen minutes before I need to sit.
And I've spent the past two hours standing, sitting only when my legs physically gave out from under me (only to get yelled at by the manager to not sit down.)
Thank the gods for the woman who told him I needed to leave. I don't think he would have listened to me until I visibly collapsed.
So that the corporation can trick you into not boycotting so that they can continue to support the mass slaughter of innocent civilians in Palestine. Next question.
Also, didn't someone send him a picture of his house and threaten to climb in his windows and kill his family? As someone with OCD, that would absolutely be enough to drive him off the internet. The guy probably feared for his life
Anon, if you're still looking, I can answer questions as someone who has long-term effects of a TBI from when I was a baby. TBI experience will vary based on when the injury happened, though.
do you have any advice on writing a character with a tbi? for context, it happened quite some time ago, and mostly affects the characters memory, balance, and motor skills. I noticed it seems to be very poorly represented in a lot of fiction, esp in fandom, and i want to make sure i dont add to that.
(BTW you seem like a very lovely person, and I appreciate your posts <:)
Hi! I don鈥檛 have a TBI so I can鈥檛 really say how to write a character with it. I鈥檓 sorry, I don鈥檛 want to give out any misinformation.
If any of my followers have a TBI and want to give advice then feel free!
I hope you have a lovely day and thank you so much!
if you make jokes being ableist as fuck about traumatic brain injuries like asking if someone was dropped on their head as a baby or if they hit their head that morning
the day people stop saying house of m/wanda killing the avengers was a girlboss moment and acknowledge that wanda is a very traumatized character is the day i can be at peace
Is there a way to re-enable usernames so this works? On desktop, all usernames are hidden, sometimes even the username of whoever you're following reblogged it from. Is there a way we can undo that?
Okay so obviously you Cannot go through a giant vetting process for everyone involved in a post before you reblog it, Every Time. But you can do bare minimum stuff.
You see the red highlight around OP? That鈥檚 from my browser extension Shinigami Eyes. That highlight means op is a terf, and that reblogging their stuff gives them notes and exposure. I didn鈥檛 have to vet them for that to find out because I have the extension.
You don鈥檛 have to expend a bunch of energy. Get shinigami eyes. Block tags like #terfsdointeract, #lizardpeople, etc. And then you can know immediately upon seeing a post that it鈥檚 shit.
You don鈥檛 need twelve step bg checks. You don鈥檛 have to memorize all the dogwhistles. But you Can take steps to stop yourself from accidentally reblogging beginner bigot beliefs and blogs very easily.
oh hey btw, apparently tumblr mobile now has an option to report ads for having flashing lights, if you click the three dots in the top right corner it should show up. not sure how long thats been there but i dont remember it being there at least a few months back, i would venture to guess it came with the recent update but shrug. fucking ridiculous that they cant just not put flashing ads in our faces in the first place, but at least this is an option.
people who dont have issues with flashing lights are allowed and encouraged to reblog
I wanna know why, as I was scrolling through posts related to Palestine, I was accosted by the same flashing ad literally twelve times no matter how many times I reported it.
And why, when I was scrolling through posts on non-Palestine topics, I never saw that ad once. And that was BEFORE I reported that ad twelve times.
Thanks for the migraine, tumblr. You're lucky I'm not epileptic like the doctor thought I was.
(I didn't manage to grab a screenshot, but the name of the organization started with Columbus and it was for a laser tag thing. The very first scene in the ad is flashing. I'll see if I can find and reblog a warning about it. Stay safe.)
so tired of seeing people call sssniperwolf a narcissist. yeah shes a shitty person and she fucking sucks but last time i checked she does not have extreme childhood trauma causing her to develop a personality disorder.
Watching a film that was filmed where I live was great. Mostly because 90% of the time I'm just sat there thinking "You can't get from x to y like that. You're moving the the opposite direction you should be."
Stop armchair diagnosing people you don't like with heavily-stigmatized and misunderstood conditions (while using outdated and/or offensiveterms to do so.) You cannot possibly diagnose them unless you're their doctor and you only making the lives of innocent people who actually have those conditions and symptoms even harder.
