neighbourhood watch
T/W: Fluff, minor injury (sprained ankle)
I’ve had the beginning of this one in my drafts for ever but I just didn’t know how to end it!
You wouldn’t say you were immature exactly... okay, maybe you were a little. On this particular Wednesday evening you had turned your speakers up as loud as you could, playing some of your favourite garage rock and furiously air-guitaring your way across you cramped apartment. Outside rain rattled against your window, and you were glad you hadn’t gone to tonights lecture at the university where you studied chemistry. You leapt of the couch, and your ankle gave way beneath you, and you screeched loudly as your lamp happened to topple off the coffee table and smashed ceremoniously across your hard-wood floor. You moaned frustratedly, that lamp had been a whole $15 from the thrift shop. You struggled up onto the couch when there was a frantic knock on your door.
‘Hey, you alright in there?’ A male voice asked, as lightning flashed outside, making you jump.
‘Um. I think I’ve sprained my ankle?’ You replied uncertainty, biting your lip. You limped over to the door, your ankle shooting pain up your leg. You opened it to see a tall handsome man with an amused look on his face.
‘I’m Spencer.’ He said. ‘Your neighbour.’
‘Hi! I’ve seen you around.’ You reply. ‘I’m Y/N by the way.’
‘I have some basic medical training if you’d like me to look at your ankle.’
You raised an eyebrow. ‘Just incase you’re some kind of murderer you can look at it from my doorway.’
The man just laughed. ‘I work at the FBI if that helps?’ He said showing you his badge.
‘Oh damn!’ You reply. ‘Well you’d better come in.’
He comes inside looking around your apartment. ‘DO YOU ALWAYS HAVE YOUR MUSIC THIS LOUD?’ He yelled to be heard above the music.
‘I DO.’ You reply.
‘YOU KNOW THAT LISTENING TO NOISE LEVELS ABOVE 85 DECIBELS FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME CAN CAUSE LONG TERM DAMAGE!’
‘OH.’ You quickly turn down the music so it is muted in the background. You winced painfully as you returned back to the couch, Spencer just standing there awkwardly. He crouched down picking up your foot and assessing the lump that was growing around your ankle. ‘I think your ankle is sprained Y/N.’
‘So I’ll be okay?’ You ask uncertainly.
‘I can assure you you’ll be fine. You might want to keep weight off it and take some painkillers though.’
‘Ugh, I don’t have any.’ You mumble.
‘Really?’ Spencer asks. ‘Here’. He says offering you his arm and helping you up from your couch. ‘I have some in my apartment.’ You let him lead you next door into a dark apartment stuffed with floor to ceiling bookshelves and a jumble of antique furniture. Spencer got you settled on his couch rifling around loudly in some cupboards in his kitchen. ‘Found them!’ He called holding a glass and a tablet.
He found you hobbling across the room your fingers tracing the spines of the worn books. You spun around guiltily retracting your hand. ‘So sorry!’
‘Don’t worry about it.’ He said making his way over. ‘Feel free to borrow some. Anyway, what did I say about putting weight on your ankle?’ He asked half joking. You sat down as he passed you the glass and tablet.
‘I usually take two.’ You say with a raised eyebrow, but you take them gratefully. ‘Thank you so much Spencer.’ You say with a coy smile. ‘This wasn’t the way I imagined I’d meet my neighbour but it’s been lovely.’
‘I actually did imagine this exact scenario.’ Spencer said and you weren’t sure if the strange man was joking as he helped you back to your apartment, your arm looped over his shoulders, his around your waist. You first realised something was wrong when your shoes began making strange noises against the carpet. Spencer opened the door to find a layer of water covering the floor as the roof dripped steadily, leaking from the rain.
‘Are you being serious.’ You groan, leaning into Spencer a little as you sigh.
‘Hey, you can sleep in my apartment if you want. I can just sleep on the couch.’ He offered, waiting for your permission to virtually carry you the few metres back to his apartment.
‘Yes please.’
...
‘Are you sure you’ll be fine on the couch?’ You ask, already starting to drift off in Spencer’s fluffy bed.
‘I’ll be fine Y/N.’ He reassured.
He stood in the doorway for a moment, the streetlight peeking through the curtain and illuminating your gorgeous face making Spencer almost buckle. He shuffled over to the couch with a smile. He didn’t know it, but you had noticed him lingering and you had the same cheesy grin before you fell asleep dreaming of the man sleeping a room away.

i wish you would’ve treated me bad
Tumblr media
inspired by the song ‘bad’ by lennon stella
a spencer reid fic
trigger warnings: fluff, intentional lowercase :)
🎼🎼🎼
‘all the little gifts you gave...’
a sweet, clear sound pierced through the thin hotel walls as spencer turned on the shower. he basked relieved-ly in the warmth of the water after the long hard day of work, but now he was intrigued by the pretty notes that floated into his bathroom for the night.
‘...i call it overcompensating...’
her voice sounded broken, tired. it travelled over the melody so softly that spencer felt a little sorry for her. for some reason, he knew she was singing the words like she felt it. he rubbed shampoo into his hair and washed it out in the time it took her to finish a verse.
‘...i wish that you would’ve treated me bad, the truth is you couldn’t have loved me better...’
spencer toweled off, thinking of the girl who was crying in the shower opposite him. and in a really un-spencery thing to do he pulled on a pair of trackpants and a t-shirt and knocked on the girl’s door. it swung open after a short while revealing his new co-worker, y/n, standing there in a towel, her hair dripping over her shoulders.
‘hey!’ you said surprised.
spencer couldn’t believe it.
‘what are you doing here?’ spencer asked abruptly, and it would’ve come off as rude if he wasn’t so awkward.
you smiled back. ‘my room got flooded, so i was relocated down here. anything up?’ you ask.
‘uh- no s-sorry!’ spencer stuttered. he had really regretted his decisions. ‘wait-’ he said before you closed the door. ‘the song you were singing, it was really pretty, i mean, you sang it pretty-’
‘thanks spencer.’ you said gently cutting him off. even the way you said his name was tantalising, it made spencer shiver. he knew he couldn’t let you go back into that room alone.
‘hey wanna come on a walk?’ spencer wasn’t planning on spending his night wandering around a deserted hotel, but he wasn’t planning on knocking on your door either.
‘actually, i’d love that.’ you beamed, making spencer blush. ‘i’ll just get changed’
...
after the longest five minutes of spencer’s life, you finally emerged from your room in a t-shirt and pajama shorts, the weather outside warm enough. and you walked outside the hotel in the pitch darkness, both looking up at the sky. spencer leaned in and pointed up at a particular constellation.
‘see that?’ he asks, pointing at a bright star. you nod silently. ‘it’s part of the lyra constellation. in greek mythology orpheus’ lyre was said to make the most beautiful music known to man. it could sooth any mortal pain and heal a broken heart. when orpheus was killed his lyre was thrown into a river where it was retrieved by zeus who sent an eagle to place it right there, up in the night sky.’
you looked over at spencer, your eyes glittering.
‘wow.’ you breathed, taking him in. his smile was brighter than the stars, as he wiped his damp hair from his face. you touched his cheek and pulled him closer, slowly, carefully. he leant into your touch, placing a gentle kiss to your lips. you pulled away, and his eyes were blown, cheeks flushed, even in the darkness. your phones buzzed at the same time and you knew that the bau needed you.
I wasn't catching on to you Blinded by your lips so smooth Excusing all of your gotta goes Leaving me to be all alone Then you took my heart just the same

i’d do anything for you

warnings: kidnapping, guns, assault, things go downhill pretty quick, torture, angst
You weren’t a flirt, okay, maybe you were a little. But you couldn’t help yourself! Everyone has a hamartia, and that was yours. You really couldn’t help yourself. You tucked your hair behind you ear as you made coffee with Reid in the BAU kitchen. He began pouring in his usual amount of sugar and almost stopped when he met your judgemental gaze.
‘What?’
‘Nothing.’ You say lightly, sipping your coffee.
‘Why are you looking at me like that?’
‘Why so much sugar Doc? Some would say that’s bad for you.’ You reply.
Spencer rolled his eyes. ‘Some of us like it sweet.’
‘Like it sweet hey?’ You ask, making him blush. The ends of his lips quirked up as he looked down at his sneakers.
‘If you’re missing some sugar in your life i’ve got some to spare.’ You say with a wink, making Reid turn even more red if that was possible. ‘Speaking of...’ You say, touching Garcia’s shoulder and pulling her in.
‘Here’s the sweetest person on the floor.’
‘See ya Reid.’ You say with a little wave before sashaying over to your desk to talk to Luke who wanted to discuss a case, not before you whispered in his ear something which made both of you laugh and look over at a virtually glowing Reid.
‘You can’t keep teasing him like this Y/N. You’ll drive the poor guy insane.’
‘Luke- I’m just having fun.’ You whined. ‘Look he’s... fine?’ You say looking back over at Reid, who in an attempt to act cool had somehow managed to knock over the sugar and was furiously trying to clean up the mess.
‘Look at boy wonder! He’s losing it.’ Luke whispered in surprise.
Prentiss made her way over to you two. ‘We’ve got a case. Wheels up in thirty, I’ll brief you on the plane.’
...
You and the team had settled in at the local police station and Prentiss had left you and Reid to work on the geographical profile. Reid had been avoiding you since this morning’s incident and you almost... missed him? You felt his presence behind you and you turned around to see him standing close to you.
‘Uh- Y/N could you please ask one of the officers if there are any popular party sites near by?’
‘Sure.’ You say tentatively, squeezing past him to reach the door. ‘Want anything from the office?’ You ask.
‘No thanks.’ He said with a smile. You couldn’t help but think he was trying to get rid of you.
You found an officer sitting at his desk.
‘Um, officer... Holder, hi! I was wondering if there are any common party sites around here? I’m SSA Y/N by the way.’ You sat up on his desk.
‘Yes, in-fact I know a few.’
You put your map down on the table and let Officer Holder circle the locations.
‘Thank you so much Officer Holder!’ You said gratefully.
‘Please, just call me Ben.’
‘Well thank you Ben.’ You restated. ‘I love your necklace by the way.’ You say, catching the gold glimmering lightly around his neck.
‘Oh, thank you.’ Ben stammered. ‘You can touch it if you’d like.’ He said holding it up to the light. You saw there was a neat tag with his name engraved attached. You delicately played with the chain, bringing your face close to his. ‘It’s gorgeous.’
He smiled. ‘You free for drinks after work?’ He asked.
You jumped down from the table where you were intercepted by Reid who threw his arm over your shoulders, which was a lot more contact than you were used too. However, you felt yourself relax into his touch.
‘We don’t drink on the job Officer.’ Spencer said with more ferocity in his tone that usual.
‘C’mon Y/N I’ve made progress on the profile.’ he said, steering you away.
‘What was that about?’ You giggle once you’re both back in the conference room and Reid had let go of you.
‘Did you see the way that cop was looking at you?’ He hissed.
‘Was it like how you’re looking at me now? Because that’s kinda hot.’ You joke, cocking your head. But Spencer’s being completely serious when he pushes you up against the wall, hands by either side of your head.
‘Will you come get drinks with me tonight?’ He asked gruffly.
‘I thought you said, we don’t drink on the job officer? And I’m not even the one with the eidetic memory.’ You lean in closer so you and Spence’s nose’s are almost touching. Luke burst through the conference room doors causing you and Reid to quickly pull away, Spencer almost tripping in his urgency to escape. Luke spun around wordlessly closing the door behind him. He re-entered seconds later.
‘Hi guys. Tara and I are back from the morgue.’ He said letting Tara in.
‘The unsub is killing low risk victims who are highly intoxicated.’ Tara added, glancing at you and Reid with raised eyebrows. Prentiss and JJ came back from the crime scene just as Rossi and Matt finished interviewing the victim’s family.
‘Okay guys.’ Prentiss began. ‘Garcia has narrowed down the local bars in the Unsub’s hunting zone. I’ve decided we need to send an agent in undercover.’ She looked over at you. ‘Y/N? You don’t have to do this if you don’t want to.’ She reassured.
‘Of course I can.’ You say confidently. ‘Whatever it takes to catch this son-unsub.’ You quickly correct yourself.
‘Spence will be there with you, Luke and Tara will be shadowing you guys from a bit of a distance. Rossi, JJ and I will be outside in an undercover van.’
...
‘See anyone?’ JJ asks into your ear. You shake your head, trying not to glance up at the security camera. ‘Hi!’ Spencer says brightly, approaching you. ‘Can I buy you a drink?’
‘Yes please.’ You reply with a smile. The bartender whips up four shots of water. You quickly down them along with a glass of ‘spirits’. Reid doesn’t match you, as you begin to act more and more intoxicated, swaying dangerously, trying to dance with Reid, who hesitantly moves along, acting as the non-complicit boyfriend. You leant into his chest as you danced.
‘Was this your idea of drinks?’ You say with a giggle.
Reid was quiet for a little as the music boomed around you.
‘No, but I don’t mind dancing with you.’ He said gently looping his arms around you. You smiled, looking up at him.
‘Really?’
‘Really.’ He confirmed smiling back at you.
The purple lights shaded his face so that shadows leaped out of his sharp features making him look like some kind of Greek God. His eyes were so soft that you felt like they were pulling you in. You stood up on your tippy-toes and kissed him. You felt his soft lips canvas yours as he pulled you closer, your hands in his hair. You finally pulled away for air, Spencer looking shocked. ‘I’ll head to the bathroom now.’ He whispered, pulling away, leaving you alone, vulnerable. You knew the unsub would approach you at any time now. You stumbled drunkenly back over to the bar where you requested more ‘shots’. Slumping onto a bar stool you began to drink when a handsome young man approached you, his hands in the pockets of a black hoodie. He sat beside you and ordered a drink. You noted how he didn’t touch it, instead glancing over at you in your sparkly mini dress.
‘How are you little lady?’ He asked, in the belittling manner you had expected from a classic misogynist.
‘I’m fi-ne.’ You slurred with a lopsided smile, looking at him with lidded eyes.
‘Here alone?’ He asked, stirring his drink with the mini umbrella.
‘My boyfriend’s in the bathroom.’ You reply, taking another sip from your drink. The man grabs your thigh holding you in place. You almost jumped, forgetting you were supposed to be drunk for a moment.
‘I think I’m going to go have a smoke.’ You say, using the prearranged code word and trying to slip out his grasp.
‘Hey. Don’t move.’ Something bulged in his pocket. ‘I know you Agent Y/L/N.’ He spat. ‘You were on the news, a couple of years ago. And if you don’t do as I say you’ll be on the news for a different reason.’
‘Hey. You’re surrounded. What are you gonna do? Kill me then be killed?’ You ask.
‘Wrong.’ He says smugly, pulling you into his chest so you shielded him from Luke and Tara who had drawn their weapons while ushering everyone outside.
‘I’m not willing to negotiate. Let me and Agent Y/L/N and I leave the premises or I shoot her.’
Luke and Tara looked to each other, unsure how to proceed. Suddenly, there was a gunshot in the bathroom.
‘Reid!’ You scream. Tara nods at Luke who rushes inside the bathroom, leaving you Tara and the unsub alone. JJ enters behind Tara, her gun in its holster. ‘Thomas Jacobs, let Y/N go. This can’t end well for you unless you do.’
Thomas begins dragging you towards the back exit. ‘So long team.’ He says with a smile. The door is pushed open by another man who is also holding a gun which is aimed at the team. You hadn’t profiled a partner, it didn’t make sense at all. Nothing in the profile suggested an accomplice. You were thrown into the back of a van which careened away, sirens following closely behind. The van stopped and you almost cried as you heard sirens continue past you. The doors opened again, and you were faced with the unsub and his partner.
‘I did what you asked.’ Thomas growled.
‘Tie her up.’ The partner demanded. Thomas complied.
‘Now put her in the back of the van.’ Thomas dragged you over the the back of a van where he roughly threw you in, locking you into the darkness. There was a gunshot outside, and you grimaced.
‘Y/N?’ A weak voice asked.
You squinted into the darkness making out the silhouette of a man slouched in the back of the van.
‘Spence?’ You ask. You scrabble over to him. ‘Are you okay?’
He nods. ‘They- injected me with something.’ He said with panic.
‘It’s okay Reid. You’re awake now.’ You try and reassure him. You can hear his breathing pick up. You desperately want to hug him, but your arms are tied back so you just lean against him as the van wobbles and shakes.
‘Breathe with me please?’ You request, taking slow deep breaths.
You breath peacefully together. The van stops and you turn to face Spencer as the doors open, and you’re pulled away. You struggle in your captor’s arms but your restricted movement makes it impossible to escape.
‘Y/N!’ Reid yells from the van before he’s pulled out and thrown down next to you. The unsub pulls out two chairs and seats you in them, laughing cruelly when you try and bite him. ‘It seems someone wants to speak to you.’ The unsub says, walking away. You look around the warehouse, looking for a way to escape until another man walks into the room.
‘Hello agents.’ He snarls.
You both stare at him blankly.
‘You’re here because your team took someone from me.’
You laugh. ‘You might have to be a little more specific.’
He turns to face you, his face twisted with rage. He storms towards you.
‘Specific?’ He grabs your face roughly so you’re forced to look up at him.
‘Get your hands off her.’ Reid seethes, thrashing in his seat.
‘I hope your team remembers my brother, Mr Scratch? You’re the reason why he’s dead.’
‘Mr Scratch didn’t have a brother.’ You say, looking into Reid’s eyes, watching as his hands fiddled with the knot behind him.
‘Not by blood.’ The unsub said. ‘I’m here to finish what Peter started. Now where is Hotchner.’
‘I don’t know.’ You say honestly.
‘Oh I know you don’t.’ The unsub replied. ‘But he does.’ He gestured at Reid, pulling his revolver out from his pocket. He emptied out every bullet but one, and aimed it at your head.
‘Tell me where agent Hotchner is.’ He demanded, facing Reid.
‘Don’t!’ You say, earning a blow to the head which left you reeling.
‘You touch her again I will kill you.’ Reid’s tone is lower than you’ve ever heard it.
The unsub just laughed. ‘Would you take a bullet for Doctor Reid?’ He asked.
‘I’d do anything for you.’ You say, looking directly at Reid as the unsub pulls the trigger. You don’t even flinch. Reid nods at you, and you flip yourself, chair and all, into the unsub knocking him to the floor. Reid, who had been untying himself the entire time, ran over, holding the unsub down and tying him up with his own rope. Reid quickly untied you and reloaded his gun, aiming it at his head.
‘Reid.’ You whisper. ‘Don’t do this.’
His hands shook as he looked over at you. ‘I don’t know if I can.’ He said. You stepped in front of him, holding his hand in yours, looking up into his eyes.
‘Spence.’ Your voice shook. ‘You’ll never forgive yourself.’
He turned off the safety.
‘I’ll never forgive you.’
He lowered the gun. You grabbed him, holding him close to you. His arms wrapped around your waist as he sobbed into your shoulder. Your tears were smothered by his vest. The locked warehouse door burst open as SWAT and the BAU entered, the team heading straight to you and Reid. ‘Are you okay?’ Prentiss asked as Matt yelled for the Medics to come over. You nodded, you and Reid hesitantly moving apart. The medics worked on the cut on your head, but the whole time your eyes never left Reid. You tried to convince yourself that the infatuation building inside of you was just the trauma, but deep down you knew you had loved him ever since you had met him on your first day at the BAU.

she’s the one
A little story I’m working on, you are Agent Monroe, and you think you might be catching feelings for a particular Doctor in the BAU.
A bit of a slow burner, part 1.
TW: Fluff, CM case talk, violence (in future chapters), and NOT cannon to the CM universe
I'd been working at Interpol for around two years, and just as I was about to get comfy, preparing for my first long term undercover mission, my boss Agent Perkins decided they needed me at the BAU, so a week later I walked into the open plan bullpen holding a cardboard box with my things. I stumbled down the short set of stairs trying not to drop the heavy box when a man approached me taking the box from my hands and tucking it easily under a toned bicep. 'You must be Agent Monroe?' He asked.
'Yeah!' I said brightly.
'I'm Agent Morgan.' He said with a cheeky grin. 'I'll introduce you to the team.' He lead me over the the group of desks in the centre of the room, dropping my box on the only empty one. Sitting at the desk beside mine was a woman with long dark hair, she was scribbling in a case file. I assumed the desk on the other side was Agent Morgan’s. Across from my desk a lanky guy sat in a swivel chair staring at me as he fiddled with a pen in his long fingers. I smiled raising my eyebrows and he quickly looked away, and I could see that he was blushing. At the desk beside the lanky guy's was another woman with blonde hair, she was talking furiously into a phone. Before Morgan could say anything Agent Hotchner beckoned me into his office up the stairs, and I quickly complied. 'Hello again Agent Hotchner.' I said politely.
'Nice to see you Agent Monroe.' Agent Hotchner began before reeling off a list of rules. He and Agent Rossi had picked me out of high school to work undercover for Interpol so I was used to his no-nonsense ways. 'And Hotch is fine.' His eyes sparkled with the closest resemblance of smile his stony face could muster before opening the door for me. 'Get to know the team a bit.' He ushered me out of his office so I was out on the landing. The huddle that had formed around Agent Morgans desk looked over at me guiltily and unceremoniously dispersed. 'For profilers they're not very inconspicuous.' Agent Rossi mused from behind me, making me smirk before entering Hotch's office. I walked down the stairs before I was intercepted by the blonde and the brunette. 'Hi, I'm JJ.' The blonde said with a grin.
'I'm Prentiss.' The brunette followed.
'As in, Emily Prentiss?' I asked surprised.
'Yeah, I heard you're from Interpol?' Prentiss replied.
'Yeah.'
'Is Perkin's still a hardass?' Prentiss asked.
'Yeah.'
We both laughed, as JJ lead us back to the desks. 'Agent Monroe these are Morgan and Dr Spencer Reid.'
Dr Reid was the lanky one, and he waved with a small smile that made me instinctively smile back.  'You can just call me Aud. Everyone does.'
'Okay Aud. Where are you from?' Morgan asked.
'I'm from a lot of places but my mum's Korean and my dad's white. I've lived virtually everywhere though.'
'You have a seemingly Australian accent which makes you part of the point zero, zero, zero three percent of the American population that have migrated from Australia.' Dr Reid randomly spouted.
I blinked. 'Do you just... have that information in your head.'
'He has an eidetic memory.' Morgan said rolling his eyes. 'Basically, he's a walking encyclopaedia.'
Dr Reid looked down bashfully, a half smirk on his face that made the pit of my stomach feel weird. I tried to settle the feeling by making myself a coffee in the small kitchenette, also because I hadn't been assigned anything to do yet. I wasn't sure why I was here. I wasn't a terrible Interpol agent. I'd help capture one of the most notorious drug lords in North America by posing as his girlfriend for a full month. I didn't have much longer to ponder as Morgan touched my arm, sidling in beside me. 'Wanna come to the bar after work You can get a lift with me and Reid, the whole team's coming.'
'Sure!' I said eagerly. I was always up for a drink. 'If I can back more drinks than you tonight you owe me 20 dollars.' I said bravely.
Morgan looked taken aback for a moment before a determined look settled on his face. 'Bet. I can just tell we're gonna be good friends.' We shook on it and I wandered back to my desk to sit and wait for a few more hours.
---
After about ten minutes I was bored again, and it was just me and Dr Reid left in the Bullpen. I strolled over and peered over his shoulder to see he was frowning at a hefty case file. 'What are you looking at?' I asked, bringing JJ's chair over and sitting down beside Reid.
'Nothing!' He said slamming the file closed and shoving it clumsily into a drawer, a photograph fluttering out and onto the floor. We both leant down to pick it up and our hands touched. I quickly pulled my hand away, and Reid shoved the photograph back into the drawer. 'S-sorry about that.' He stuttered, smoothing his hair behind his ears.
'S'allright. Confidentiality and that.'
He smiled up at me. 'How old are you?'
'23 this year.' I replied.
'Seriously! Im 24. You've beaten my record!' He said surprised. 'We're basically kids to everyone else.' He said leaning back in his chair.
'How long have you been here?'
'Not long, maybe a year or so.'
I nod. The conversation stills, and I have to stop myself from saying anything stupid to fill the sudden space. 'Can you help me with something?' Reid asked tentatively.
'Of course!' I said a little more eagerly than I would've liked. Reid removed a case file from the stack on his desk and rolled his chair over so I could bring mine in beside his at the desk. He opened it to reveal a series of pictures showing 6 different victims. There was no damage to the body but the glazed over eyes showed they were dead. 'There were high amounts of adrenaline in the toxicology report.' Reid nodded.
'What's suspicious? Could've been a heart attack.' I asked.
'That's what I thought...' We spent the next few hours theorising over the case until Morgan grabbed Reid from behind, scaring him. Morgan laughed as Reid batted him away annoyed. 'It's home time kids.' He said. Reid began shoving random things into his satchel and I grabbed my bag from my desk. 'Audrey!' I heard someone call. I turned around to see one of my friends from high school pull me into a tight hug. 'Penelope!' I gasped. 'Wha-'
'I'm the tech analyst here.' She said.
I hugged her again. 'Pen! Why didn't you say anything!'
'I wanted it to be a surprise!'
'Aww you silly chook.' I said warmly.
'C'mon guys!' Morgan called from the doorway. I got in the back of Morgan's car with Reid as Penelope got in the front and Morgan drove. Penelope and Morgan began to go on about some guy named Kevin as Reid picked at his argyle print woolen vest. 'So how did you find your first day at the BAU?'
'Pretty cruisy if I'm honest.'
'Trust me, it get's worse.' Reid said, but this smile wasn't joking, and it didn't quite reach his eyes.
'Well at least I've got some of the best to teach me.' I said with a smirk, nudging Reid's dress shoed foot with my own converse clad one. I nod at the book on his lap. 'Hemmingway?' I ask.
'Yeah.'
'You're planning on reading Hemmingway while you're at a bar?' I asked incredulously.
'Bars aren't really my thing...' Reid said raising his eyebrows and gesturing at himself.
'Aw sure they aren't, pretty girls and guys, drinks, dancing, there's something for everyone!'
Morgan laughed from the front. 'If you can get Reid to have one drink then I'll give you 10 dollars.'
'Added onto our original bet?' I asked.
'Of course because I'm going to win and there's no way you can get Reid to even have a sip of a drink.'
'Oh its on.' I responded.
