Pros and Cons to Playing Each Race in Guild Wars 2
Asura
Pros:
• In body lengths per second, you’re the fastest race in Tyria, able to keep up with a Charr.
• You’re very small, and hard for a larger person to see as you stab their ankles.
• Everyone else thinks you’re adorable.
• Your starting area is full of intellectual challenges, which is pretty fun.
Cons:
• That whole “asuran supremacy” thing is a little worrisome.
• If you’re not an academic type, it’ll be a lot less fun.
• You have to worry about your progeny being stepped on by a Norn
• The leading cause of death in your city is falling off the side.
Sylvari
Pros:
• You GLOW in the DARK, how cool is that??
• When you say you’re asexual and someone asks “Like a plant?” you can say “Yes, exactly!”
• Your starting area is beautiful. Seriously beautiful.
Cons:
• You’re flammable. Elementalists, please be careful.
• You were literally born yesterday. You have no life experience. A human your size is almost as old as your entire species.
• The bridges in your city have holes in them. And you thought Rata Sum was bad!
Charr
Pros:
• You can run on all fours and literally pounce on things!
• You’re definitely the fluffiest race in Tyria, and you’re ALSO the most intimidating.
• Along with the Asura, you’re the technological domineers of the entire world.
Cons:
• Everyone thinks you’re a furry (though maybe this is a pro?)
• You feel kind of slow and awkward. Why are those Asura so zippy?
• Everyone has to fight in a war. Like everyone.
Norn
Pros:
• You can shapeshift. You can turn into your guardian spirit. You can become some kind of weird were-bird while the cat people look on in awe.
• You’re super tall. You can reach things that are higher than other people’s houses.
• You don’t get cold very easily. The winter winds are yours to command. Ice skills come easier to Norn elementalists than they do to anyone else.
Cons:
• Everyone will want you to grab things off of shelves for them
• You have to worry about stepping on Asura progeny
• Alcoholism is kind of a problem in your culture
Human
Pros:
• You’re hardy and strong. You’ve pushed and been pushed back, but humans still have a large presence in Tyria, which you owe to the dedication and hard work of your people
• You have six whole gods! That’s more gods than anyone else!
• You’re descended from literal aliens. That’s so cool!
Cons:
• The Charr kind of still hate you.
• Humans are hardy, sure, but a lot of nations have fallen and you’re kind of in a bad spot at the moment.
• If you’re not Krytan, there’s like a 90% chance you’re a refugee that had to flee your homeland… that’s pretty unfortunate.

Being a necromancer in GW2
Necromancer: *summons minions* Ha ha! My enemies will taste the power of death and choke on their own blood!
Minion: *starts running away*
Necromancer: They will fear me when I-...wait, where are you going?
Minion: *approaches nearby champion mob, which should be out of range, but strangely enough isn't*
Necromancer: ...hold on a second, wh-what do you think you're doing? Come back here!
Minion: *keeps going*
Necromancer: Wait. Wait, doNT YOU DARE
Minion: *attacks*
Necromancer: OH YOU LITTLE SHIT

@ the gw2 roleplaying community
I have an idea. Specifically, two ideas, of things that we should band together and make unofficially canon.
The first: the Rata Sum Undercity
a certain art piece @ependadrawsguildwars2 (whose artist sadly can’t be liked here because Tumblr mobile is a bitch) that I reblogged recently struck me with this idea. We have the council, we have their murder-enabled secret police… and we have a perfect setup for Rata Sum to have a thriving, cyberpunk(?) undercity. Probably placed between whatever weird magic matrices keep it off the ground. A wretched hive of scum and villainy, where peacemakers tread lightly and it’s always dark because a giant cuboid hunk of rock is in the way of the sun.
The second: the Between
As you may or may not have noticed in the bits of LS season 2 where it was visible, the Antikythera has some rather enticing negative space in its design. This has to be Something since it’s pretty clearly still in the design, so… how about we all accept that it’s a space unto itself like Tyria or The Mists, a weird non-Euclidean space that you can use to explain all manner of Eldritch Secrets and other such tomfoolery. Bam, half your lore-contradictions solved for you. I’m actually already using it as parts of my characters’ backstories so more support for the idea is welcome!
I realize I’m not selling this too well, but just think about them. They’re fun.

Guild Wars 3: We fucked up. We killed off all the elder dragons and the world is dying and is going to explode. We need to make elder dragons again. How the fuck do you bring back the undead? Did Tequatl not have 47 kids like Glint did? What about Claw? Can a destroyer make a baby dragon? How do we turn the Pale Tree into a Jungle Dragon?

I have to reblog this because a) asura and b) i'd be lying if i said i hadn't shipped asura or my own asura character.
There are good arguments here on both sides. Yes, tendencially characters that are small + tendency on big head + big eyes give us a somewhat amount of "cuteness"... that tends to be associated with children. Because they are also child features in the human race. It triggers that reaction, and i understand that it my take a while to get that even though they appear in children, they may not be only present in children. We are talking about art and fictional races. Another example is the tipical green alien look. It was actually based on fetus scans (or so i was lead to believe, but it actually adds up because big heads, seemengly unproportionated long and thin limbs and the big black eyes correspond to the eye sockets we see on the scan). I remember seeing my brother in one of these and comenting that he looked like something that came out from area 51.
Listen, if you don't like or if it's not really your thing, then scroll away. Please. But they are not children. I try as a max to minimize that aspect of mine (heck, i don't even draw that much, and i haven't drawn more than a unintencional nude). My character is 27 years old in the current living story point. My other character is in his 40s. The youngest is already in adult age too. As for the flat-chested women, that should not be associated with childlikeness. Okay, i get it that you are all used to no boobs = child and boobs = woman. But i speak for myself and other women, wether androginous or non-binary or not, flat-chested, almost, with binders or heavy duty sports bra. And we all still have our sexuality, whichever it is and proud of it. Please don't use that argument near me. And it's one of the things i most like in the asura race: they're all nearly androginous. It's my ideal of character (if only some outfits weren't trying to undo that). Give me women that are flat-chested and wear suits and are androginous.
But then again, opinions are opinions. I understand why you would see that. But don't ever acuse us of child porn. Or pedophilia.
(Props to that first image; the moment i saw that, i cracked up laughing a lot. It's hillarious.)
Tumblr media
“I don’t get asura porn. In fact, it kind of grosses me out. They look too much like children to me.”
submitted by anon.
(Mod disclaimer: I didn’t want to use any artist’s asura works because although I agree with this statement I still respect and admire those who draw it, thus why I decided to go for comedy.)

Speaking of music: Asura would naturally tend to an excessiv pursuit of virtuosism, and make good musicians and composers, albeit perfeccionists. I can see asura taking on atonality, with a mathematical approach to sound. And electric instruments with ley energy, providing sound and a bit of distortion.
I like these headcannons.

just to clarify though i dont hate the inquest or anything, i just think theyre like some kind of comical recurring villain team that never wins from a cartoon at this point. like team rocket or something. thats actually a good analogy. theyre basically the team rocket of guild wars 2

I recommend finding all of Zinn’s recordings. They’re a pain to find, but it explains a lot of what’s going on in the map as well as details of what happened to the Rata Novans and Zinn.

New episode tidbits and spoilery stuff
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS ahead. - Kasmeer is back. And everyone has a new outfit. Maybe I should get a new one too. And Taimi is getting bigger (well, she's 16/17 already). My child is growing up so fast. But hey, the commander misses Kas, how nice. And apparently she was doing some inside job during Lake Doric events, a bit like E suggested in his letters. Should've been a little more clear during then, but okay. - At least we are not using Omadd's machine's heart to fry our character brains again. - Phlunt is really rude. For someone with an asura commander, he is plainly dimishing the character (we're supposed to be intelectuals, we're the fucking Snaff Savant...). He is becoming more and more of a nuisance, at least for a certain asura who is getting tired of this (yes, what if the dragon lab is mine? I'm an asura and I found Rata Novus first than all of you shits, except Taimi...) - Someone said it - mursaanaries. - Soooooooo... a human god. Balthazar, the god of war, fire, honor and courage. Who hires mercenaries (including, by the models, separatists, renegades and inquest) to fight you. God of honor and courage... - Kasmeer, for someone upset of not being invited to the guild already, you backed out way to soon. What are you doing? - AH! If you're an asura, you do answer Phlunt that the lab is yours and Taimi is under your tutelage! Point for me! - I was expecting the new map to be closer to Rata Novus and Rata Sum, but okay. It has plenty of asura lore too, which i like, but there is way to much human going on here. Fine. - I glitched something on redoing the episode(?), because now I can talk to Marjory before the events and she discusses how Kas froze when the god is revealed and she kinda... blames her? Kas apparently had a much more religious aproach than Jory. As for what she saw, Balthazar cut all ties with the White Mantle. She thinks they found out the lie. I think that as a god, I would be pretty upset that some humans would chose to worship a mursaat over the original six gods. Also, he is not as powerful... was he fired from his "god duty"? - As a latin-origin-language speaker, I laugh at the commotion the name is making. I got it right away, you guys think of pussies... - My small theory on "the commander is losing their marbles" is taking shape. Mine sounds like she is truly gone fishing, with the "spirits of nature" and "magical friends". Commander is trying their very best... - Zinn is starting to sound a lot like inquest stuff too. And there are inquest in there. Although my character in particular sees not exactly a problem there, I have other asuras who would not like that. But, hey, I got a M.O.X.! And it goes to your home instance and plays music! And talks about cats, even though I have none in there because I prefer birds... - So, we cannot kill more dragons. They were preparing that one a while ago. Ogden's book calling them "dragons of nature", and being part of a cycle. Generally, it is a bad idea to disrupt any cycle. And Tyria seems to be a close environment, wich means this cycle is perfectly set up to mantain an equilibrium. My question is, the cycle is already disrupted, we killed two dragons... it can't stay like this, right? - Balthazar... who are the they that throwed him out? The other gods? His brother? I don't think he died, so... how are we going to deal with it? Are the other five gods also going to jump in and fight us, or him? And once again, he does not fight us, he sends his dogs. God of honor, everyone... - With two dragons now sleeping, and possibly having to change the way of acting with these fellows (giant sleeping darts in their butts, maybe), the introdution to the next expac will be in the next episode, so we can count on an episode with a lot of loose ends, something inconclusive, maybe with this god dilemma, perhaps not with a dragon threat, but at least they steared away from the cliched "Fire and Ice", thank you. - Dragon's Watch has two members, maybe three if we count Scruffy in. It seems like those highly advertised guilds that nobody wants to join, or if they join, they go afk for three years and a half.
