A few reminders as we head into what is often the most heated bidding-war time:

Google is still being a weirdo in a variety of ways, so check those bid sheets on desktop or mobile browser + app both to be sure they’re loading all bids.

Not all forms will close right at 8pm - any bids that register with timestamps later than 8:00:05 EST will be considered invalid.

Once auction close, sit tight! If you’re a high bidder you’ll get email from us within a day or so, confirming that you are the winner and giving you the link to our new donation proof form. This is a different process than in previous years! Do not send us proof until you get this email.

Don’t forget to check out the golden needle tag to find those hidden treasures without bids - in particular, there are some really interesting offers of specialist expertise that are still looking for someone who needs that particular bit of knowledge

If you find yourself outbid on everything (or have some extra donation budget to spread around), be sure to take a look at the Fan Crafts Bazaar, which is not closing today. Individual crafters can close their stalls at any time (for example, if they run out of stock), but most will be open for at least another week.

Things have definitely slowed down in the Old Guard fandom, but we can keep things going! Have you been missing your blorbos? Got a fic itch you haven't been able to scratch because so much less is getting posted these days? There's an easy fix!

Might take a bit of a tumblr break. Between the complete lack of anything happening with The Old Guard sequel and various horrors (understandably) dominating people's attention, the tumblr experience is vastly different from what it was when I started a couple of years ago. I find myself feeling worse after checking tumblr rather than better, and since this was meant to be entertainment for me that kind of defeats the purpose.

Also I've started playing Baldur's Gate (after hours and hours of watching my housemate play) and it's my first video game since the Atari had as a child. It's eating my brain like a mind flayer and I've decided to just lean into that.

Glad to hear that Tristan is cuter than the pillow is horrible. I don't know how that man (my housemate) sleeps with that by his bed. (I sleep with Tristan on my bed, and am much happier for it.)

My brother has published (through traditional channels) both original and tie-in novels, and he recently optioned his first screenplay. So when he complains about all the ideas he gets for books and scripts for properties he'll never work on, I know that he writes for money, not as a hobby, and his whole frame of reference is completely different from mine, but...

All I can think is "that's what fanfic is for, buddy." Slap a draft up on Ao3, people will go nuts, millions of folks have ideas for properties they'll never get hired to write for (and some of them are canon congruent, it'll not all AUs or smut or character studies), like I'm sorry it's frustrating for you personally because "getting paid to write it for real" is at least in the realm of possibility but man. Join the fucking club.
