I tried to film some videos so you guys can see how it feels to walk through the forest, you can click here to see them: x x x
BUT unfortunately the camera got really shakey so if you are prone to motion sickness please take care!!!
right from the start we found this huge termites nest!! there are lots of them in there.
there was also this sign showing us the most common bird species that inhabit the Coc贸 Park. Some words are too small to read but i will try to transcript and translate everything later.
I also found some pieces of a broken wasp nest!! Since it was abandoned (and looked really cool) I decided to take a piece of it with me :)
Since we took the lake route, some parts of the forest were flooded. And because of it we found lots of wild ducks, so cute!!
Walking a little further we found the lake itself. I forgot to take a proper picture of the lake, but here are two pictures i took from it last year so you guys can have an idea:
there were two different trails and each one has a bridge that passes over the lake. I was standing in one of them as i took the picture and you can see the other one on the picture, very very far away.
the lake is beautiful, full of tiny fishes and aquatic plants
Here we have a counter that has lots of small pots containing endemic seeds from cear谩
I don't know if all of them are from Coc贸, maybe not, but they are indeed really pretty!!
Since everything is written in portuguese because you know, this park is located on brazil, i will try to translate what is written on the signs for you guys
From left to right:
seeds from mucun茫 (Dioclea grandiflora), also known as olho de boi (bull's eye)
maca煤ba fruit (Acrocomia aculeata)
Mulungu seeds (Erythrina mulungu)
Seeds from the fake pau-brasil (Adenanthera pavonina), also known as olho de pombo (pigeon's eye) or tento
Seeds from Flamboyant (Delonix regia)
Next, we have some pretty pictures and a tiny taxidermized collection.
Today i went to a marveleous place called Parque do Coc贸/Coc贸 Park! It is located in Brasil, on Fortaleza, the capital of the state of Cear谩.
I will use this post as a masterlist of posts bc theres a lot of videos and tumblr wont let me post all at once, so stay tuned!!!
It has two main areas:
the first one is a regular park, with soft grass and a playground for kids, along with a public teather and a public gym. Many families and friends go there to relax and spend some time together, some people take their dogs for a walk and even some birthday parties are hosted there, its very cool!! It also has a small exhibition teaching us about the local fauna and flora, a small zoo and a bee farm.
The second area is the wildlife sanctuary. Its a HUGE forest containing lots of native species of plants, animals and many more. You can go hiking there, but capturing endemic species is strictly forbidden!! You can also travel on the Coc贸 river by boat, but it is really far away and we didnt go there.
If you're curious, here's the map of the park. I will try to translate everything later
