THE WATER WOMEN by Yah Yah Scholfield / a mermaid-ish horror story / 5,109 words / Digital Collage by Yah Yah Scholfield
She is back and she’s cleaned and she’s gorgeous! I’ve been wanting this take this off my website and put it up on Patreon for ages, but I’ve always felt like it’s one of my weaker short stories! Reading it back while I was editing it really made me realize how silly that was— it’s stupendous!
The Water Women is about a town called Easton, its strange tradition/illness, and a family of two trying to survive it.
Inspirations include stories of mermaids and sirens and selkies, and this one Lifetime movie I watched forever ago that I can’t remember the name of…All I remember is that there was a cliff that lambs used to go over. Hm…
Content warnings for suicide by drowning and violence!
AVAILABLE EXCLUSIVELY FOR MY PATRONS UNTIL MARCH 5, 2023!
