@ every inclusionist saying, “in order to be straight, you have to be BOTH heteroromantic AND heterosexual! heteroromantic asexuals and aromantic heterosexuals CANNOT be straight!”
did any of you ever once stop to think of the following statement: “in order to be bi, you have to be BOTH biromantic AND bisexual! biromantic asexuals and aromantic bisexuals CANNOT be bi!”
what the fuck is the difference between these two. literally what is the difference. by denying that aros and aces can be straight, you are also denying that they can be gay, or bi, or pan, or anything else. you can’t set a specific rule for one orientation, and then create a completely different rule for all the other orientations. it DOES NOT work like that.
i dare any one of you to explain to me why i’m wrong.

Full offense, but the split attraction model is not only unnecessary but also has really harmful implications.
To those who don’t know what it is (god I wish that were me), the split attraction model divides orientations into sexual and romantic attraction. So according to this model, romantic attraction is separate from sexual and therefore it divides your identity into 2. For example, I’m attracted to both men and women but I’m not interested in sex at the moment and am kind of repulsed by it. According to this model, I would be a biromantic asexual.
In my opinion, the split attraction model is harmful because it supports the mindset that sex is an inseparable part from being straight/gay/bi despite trying to fight against it. It implies that for example, a lesbian, aka a woman attracted to other women, has to be interested in sex to be a ‘real lesbian’, and if she’s not interested in sex, then she’s a ‘homoromantic asexual’. And honestly fuck that. Not being interested in sex doesn’t make you any less gay, straight or bi. You can be attracted to people without seeking out sex, and it doesn’t make you any less who and what you are. This model gives room to a lot of internalized homophobia and biphobia as well, because it gives gay people room to claim they’re attracted to the opposite gender and that it is 'purely romantic’ and therefore they wouldn’t actually seek out the opposite gender, and similar things can occur with bi people claiming they’re romantically straight/gay.
Before the split attraction model was created, 'asexual’ used to mean a lack of attraction to any gender, and it honestly makes a lot more sense that way. Gay people are attracted to the same gender, bi people are attracted to both, and straight people are attracted to the opposite - we all agree on this by now. So logically, asexual is attraction to none. 'Homoromantic aces’ are gay. 'Biromantic aces’ are bi. 'Heteroromantic aces’ are straight. You don’t have to be interested in sex to be gay, bi or straight.

broke: aces/aros are inherently part of the lgbt community, even those who do not experience sga or are cis
woke: aces/aros are not inherently lgbt, but they deserve their own community suited for their needs and where they will be recognized
