the way i could just write for days and days about my feelings on haytham's destructive tendencies and blatant avoidant attachment issues. that's an emotionally stunted ten year old in the body of a grown ass adult. he doesn't really know what adult haytham wants because little haytham was never taught how to have wants that weren't pure parroting of a forced authority figure. poor lonely bastard is flying by the seat of his pants. the last time he had a genuine desire that wasn't borne of somebody else's manipulation was when he saw little tom barrett's eyeball through the keyhole of the gate that separated them and he realised that, actually, all he yearned for was a friend.

Some of y'all in the replies act like saying Billy Miles (derogatory) is a worse father than Haytham was is the same as calling Haytham a good dad when it obviously isn't ? The whole point of this post was to say that despite everything Haytham did, William is somehow worse but it gets disregarded bc Will is supposed to be "one of the good guys". Y'all are kinda just proving my point lol

Also I'd like to argue that while Haytham did try to kill Connor, he also risked his own life to save him from execution ? Like man woke up one morning and said "I'm not letting my son die" and actually did it. Meanwhile Billy (derogatory) saw Desmond's life as expendable and his death as nothing more than an occupational hazard. Haytham was shit at showing it but he still cared about Connor. He may have thought about killing Connor for like 20 minutes but William always saw Desmond as nothing more than a tool and didn't care that he died and that makes him infinitely worse regardless of what Haytham did or didn't

Never seen anyone more confidently wrong than those people who call Haytham the worst father ever when he lives in the same universe as William Miles
