okay. hear me out. i know you’ve said before no concept albums but this is one of my favorite pieces of media and means so much to my acceptance of my own womanhood and i really hope you just give it a chance.

taylor swifts The Tortured Poets Department is one of most groundbreaking and heart wrenching sapphic aligned media i’ve ever experienced, and it’s backlash by music review jornos is no doubt because of its focus on womanhood and queer love. the album embraces melodrama and emotional vulnerability, often using heightened expressions of emotion as a narrative device. swift’s lyrics are central to the album, with developed imagery taking precedence over catchy pop hooks. the album is also recognized for its references to other artists and poets, suggesting a lineage of “tortured” lyrical poets.

in terms of its significance in lesbian and feminist art, while there is no direct confirmation of the album being labeled as such, it could be argued that its themes of love, relationships, and emotional expression resonate with broader human experiences, including those within the lgbtq+ community. the album’s exploration of heartbreak and creativity might align with feminist ideas of personal agency and the rejection of societal expectations.

We all care about the turtles, the seals, the oceans, obviously. Notice how the easiest thing to yell about was something that would barely affect anything but appealed heavily to emotional discourse.

The disabled community is huge, and it can be joined by anyone. Most of those As Seen On TV products were invented for us. Society still mocks us and ignores us, and often outright harms us in multiple ways.

Communicate better. Listen better. But stop putting us out in the cold because you are inconvenienced by our simplest needs.

The Bitches In Media Masterlist

Hello everyone, I am ready to formally introduce you to my spreadsheet of media that I am recommending on the grounds of enjoying its female characters.

I've got my recommendations sorted by type of media, length, whether they have female protagonists, and whether there's any canonical femslash in them. I'm also slowly going through the process of adding short pitches and notes for everything I'm recommending. If you're interested in digging into more media properties that center women or do a good job with their character arcs, take a peek in here and see if there's anything to your tastes!

Along with my own recommendations, there's also a backlog of things people have recommended to me for the sake of this project but haven't gotten to yet, along with ones I've been through but don't personally enjoy enough to recommend.
