The Tragic.
You never wanted this. You never asked for this... you're miserable and you're at conflict with your position as a vampire. You spend time locking yourself away from the world, afraid of the monstrous being you've become. Of your own bloodlust. You want to be human, you may try to blend in with society, to be simple. You try to hide what you are but you can't, can you... you try to do good but you can't escape your nature. You may just fall in love with a human... and how could you subject them to that very fate that's plagued you so cruelly? You look great with a tear running oh so tragically down your face.
please take my What Kind of Vampire Are You? quiz…

There are a TON of deer/horned cervids from folklore that will Fuck Your Shit in the Old World.
Humans love to be terrified. :)
*nowhere king shows up all over my dash this morning* oh... Thats.. Very much like the villain in my unpublished novel... This is fine.
Hey at least i know he looks cool right?
Actually on second thought its not that similar. Spooky shadow monster that eats people is pretty common. Which, like is kinda terrifying that that's such a *thing* lurking in our collective psyche huh?

But that wasn’t her tragic origin story... did everyone just full-stop not watch this movie? Her origin story is her bio mom was such a narcissist, she killed Cruella’s adoptive mom (with dalmatians). And then when everything was revealed, her mom tried to kill her too.
She doesn’t even commit dog-murder. At all. By the end of the movie, SHE OWNS DALMATIANS.
Disney is shoe-horning all of the “classic remakes” with the old characters we love instead of branching out and putting it as a new movie entirely. Which this one - just like Mulan - would have benefited from an entirely new slate.
But we as consumers don’t WANT new stories... so they go to the formula that works for getting them money.
Tumblr media
Sorry for reposting a popular tweet but this. A thousand times this. A million times. Disney is the worst thing to ever happen to art.

All my Exes - 04.07.2085
Liv was watching the door of the coffee shop, ignoring Kory picking at her muffin as her coffee cooled. The female nazzadi and male amlati walked through the door, the woman ducking under his arm as he held open the door for her. They spotted her and made a beeline for her as she stood.
"Livy? What's going on?" Veronika wrapped her in a tight hug before Vraka hugged them both.
"Thanks for coming - both of you. I have a huge favor to ask." Olivia said.
"We figured." Vraka muttered, kissing her forehead.
"Grasse, spill." Veronika looked over at the table. "Who's this?"
"She's... why I asked for you to come. Let's sit so I can explain." Vraka slipped into Liv's chair and pulled her into his lap as Veronika flopped herself into Kory's lap.
"Hi, I'm Veronika. You can call me Nika, cutie." She winked and grinned, throwing her arms around Kory's shoulders.
"She's a telepath, Veronika..." Liv said softly. Veronika looked warily at Kory, then shrugged.
"Oh well. No funny business with my mind, please?" She grimaced but didn't move from Kory's lap.
"We'll see." Kory muttered. "What's your name?" She nodded at the man.
"Kory, this is Vraka and Veronika. Guys, this is Kory, my coworker. She just recently moved here and doesn't know anyone. She has a teenage sister and she's not really keen to send her to Cuba to live with the grandparents. Would you guys..." Liv looked over to Kory.
"I'd like to look in their minds with their permission."
"Sheesh, buy me a drink first, love!" Nika clucked her tongued. "What's the favor, Liv?"
"If I approve of you... I'd like to ask if you'd check on my sister for the next few days. We might not be able to come back-" Liv glared at Kory, who quickly corrected herself. "Might not be able to get away from our duties for the next few days." Liv began to bounce as Vraka began to shake his leg.
"... Just doing this in the coffee shop, huh?" Vraka muttered. He shook his head, but held out his hand to Kory. "Come on before I change my mind."
"... You trust me in your mind?" Kory questioned.
"We trust Liv." Veronika corrected.
"Besides, you could have already fucked our minds over if you wanted. You asked permission - that says a lot about you." Vraka said. Kory took his hand. The invasion was swift, and Nika shifted on Kory's lap.
"Okay, I trust them. Would you watch my sister for the next few days?" Kory asked politely.
"I dunno. After that I feel like I need a smoke." Veronika joked.
"Yeah, we'll take care of the doll. When can we meet her?" Vraka said groggily.
"... After we go to the bank. I've got a few things to take care of and I need you with me." Liv said.
- - - - -
"... A last will and testament, Liv?" Nika asked as she reviewed the document in front of her.
"I came into some money and just want to cover my bases. You're family to me." Liv shrugged. "This just makes sure you're taken care of."
"Since when did you change your name?" Vraka asked.
"A day or two at most, I promise." Liv sighed and facepalmed.
"..." Vraka squinted. "Who are these people?" He tapped the paper. "Te'ani Fuentes and Alan Shen?"
"Two of my other coworkers."
"And we just give them money if they ask, no questions asked?" Veronika asked.
"Yes." Liv nodded.
"... Okay." Vraka shrugged and signed the paper, followed by Veronika.
"Is there anything else we can help you with, Ms Frostburn?" the clerk asked.
"I need to open up a bank account for these two." Liv said politely. More papers were signed, a new account was opened, and the amount wasn't discussed.
- - - - -
Tory was an absolute delight while meeting Veronika and Vraka - she was on her absolute best behavior. Liv asked Tory to watch over her plants since she could go in and out of her apartment freely.
- - - - -
Zeta { One Voicemail Received - Nika and Vraka }
"Olivia {fucking} Grasse-" "-Frostburn." "She's not a Frostburn. She's our Liv! And {goddamnit} why aren't you answering your pip?! You never leave without Beta-" "She has a new-" "{I don't fucking care}, Vraka! She's not answering her pip! {Bitch} I love you but you have a lot to answer for!" "Nika..." "One million goddamn dollars?? What the actual fuck? Olivia. You know who this is. Call us back."

The Other Side - April 07, 2085
After Jimmy leaves, the crew has a frank discussion of what exactly are we going to do. Ideas are tossed back and forth - attempting to find the artifact is nixed because we won't register as human getting to the cabin to find the magical trail. That... literally leaves us with the idea of finding the portal and going through it. Despite not knowing what's on the other side. Despite not knowing if we'll be able to return.
This is not the best idea we've had. However.... we're willing to go in as prepared as possible. Te'ani's in charge of weapon and armoury requisition. Alan is going over his spells. Kory needs to figure out what to do with her sister. She's reluctant to send her to their grandparents. Liv hesitates, but offers to contact her exes to check on Victoria, and attempts to reassure Kory they are "entirely normal." Kory wants to meet them first. Looks like Kory's going with Liv to take care of a few things!
Before grabbing the check, one of the servers drops off a single fortune cookie to the table - "The boughs of siblings past mark the gateway of the dream you seek."
WHATEVER COULD IT MEAN??
Liv contacts her exes, Kory approves. They reluctantly come with Liv to the bank after agreeing to keep an eye on the parapsychic prodigy Tory. A last will is made "in case anything should happen to me..." leaving everything to Vraka and Veronika. The only stipulation is that if her coworkers - Te'ani, Alan, and Kory request monetary assets, it be given unconditionally. She also sets up an account for them with a generous fund if anything should come up regarding Tory. They meet Tory, everything seems in order.
We follow Jimmy's map and... we find the portal! It's nestled inside a semi-transparent eight foot tall skull. We can kind of see through it... and it's a bit awe-inspiring.
Te'ani asks "Who wants to go through first?" Liv is the volunteer... "Wait... tie a rope around, first. Take a step in, then right back out."
Liv steps through the portal. She doesn't have long to wait before Kory pops beside her.... followed by Te'ani and Alan.
Liv, "I thought the plan was to wait until I came back through?"
That's going to be kind of hard because there's no longer a portal. There's a nice, solid stone wall behind us... This may not have been the team's smartest decision.
We are a team of OIS agents in full combat gear and many weaponized goodies, gods only know where... even though it looks exactly like the place we just left. None of our pips are working (error: disconnected from the network).
First thing is deciding where to go - to the left or to the right. While talking, the ground shakes violently. Possibly an explosion.. but it feels like an earthquake. The left pathway is partially collapsed and erring on the side of caution, we decide not to attempt to move the rocks.
The right holds an almost impenetrable tangle of veinlike roots that throb with a sluggish heartbeat. It fills the entire passage and Alan stops us before we reach out to touch the roots.
Alan, "Don't touch them. These are like the Black Goat's roots from the Forest of the Dark One."
Liv, "Well we need to get past somehow..." Te'ani, "Do you think we should leave our stuff? It's going to look a little out of place..." Liv, "Absolutely not. We take it with us."
Liv creates a bubble with gravikenesis as she pushes them through the roots. It is very thick and a struggle as the roots attempt to press against them. It's about 100 to 200 feet before they hit a wall and are able to break out of the infested roots.
The ground shakes.
We're still within the sewer system, but it's difficult to know exactly where we are. Every time we come to a manhole to the surface, something is blocking it and we can't get through. It takes eight attempts before we're able to push over whatever's on top and climb up with all our gear.
We're inside a building... but what was blocking the manhole was a partially grown-out tree. Outside is definitely Seattle... but NOT our Seattle. All the lights are out. As far as our eyes can see are little trees everywhere... five to six feet tall. It is with slow realization that they all realize what they're looking at. The trees have faces... and if you squint, the branches look like limbs.
The trees were once people and animals. The ground shakes again and a wave affects the trees. We.... don't want to find out what is doing that. So, we promptly decide to find shelter - warded shelter.
Several places come to mind - OIS HQ, the Golden Dragon, the Dionysus Club, and the Tagers' Hideout. The closest would be the OIS HQ. Liv is extremely nervous to head there.
Te'ani, "But WHY..." Liv, "I told you... I think in this world I handed the artifact over to the other side... the OIS would have every reason to shoot first and ask questions later."
Liv is really grateful for the obscurity granted by the armour.
Alan, "It wouldn't hurt just to pass by to see if anyone's there..."
So the team heads to HQ... passing tree after tree - in cars, on the street, in the buildings... and then we arrive. While there isn't any electricity in the OIS building, what is odd is that there aren't any trees...
Alan and Te'ani check out the top floor to see if they can find where the earthquake is coming from.
Kory wants to check out the Director's office for LeAnne... but that's not the nameplate on the door. Director Elwood's office.... is empty. Liv wants to check the armoury - also empty.
Liv, "It stands to reason that the OIS is quite possibly alive and well... somewhere." Kory, ".... Something just scared the boys..."
On the top floor, Te'ani and Alan are looking around and notice a mountain in Seattle. Only... that's not a mountain. It has eyes... and gets up, shifts, and then settles back down. That is definitely not the cause of the earthquake, but... the Old One is MUCH closer than expected. Maybe a mile or two away.
Mother has definitely come Home in this dimension.

Revelations! - April 07, 2085
Things are looking up for the team. We've gained major favor from the NEG general and possibly even a little respect from Director LeAnne. We aren't entirely slouches at work! With the tip of the summoning location handed off to the big guns to watch (and wait for), our hands are free to dabble in other troubles.
We can follow up with two items - tracking Weaver's team or Bobby and the artifact. There is a lot of debate, but it is finally agreed that we'll visit Ricky and Luanne outside the arcology to follow up on Weaver's team. Te'ani offers Liv one of his pills since she's still looking a little rough. She accepts it.... but doesn't take it. She'll wait to talk to Ricky for his advice on healing.
The trip out there is uneventful, but there is one very interesting tidbit in the news - Sage's sister will be taking over the company. She seems to have.... shown up out of nowhere. She claims she hid from Sage when he gunned down his family to take over the company. He's not exactly around to dispute her claim...
Oh, and she's agreed to a licensing contract with Crysalis. Mental reaction - YIKES!
We arrive at Ricky's. Te'ani makes a beeline for Luanne's room without even a hello to Ricky. He comes back out less than five minutes later. Ricky, in the meantime, raises an eyebrow, asking if we had a bad night.
Alan, "You could say that." Ricky, "I might be able to help. It really depends on you guys." Liv, "What do you need from us?" Ricky, "Not what you give to me, but what you're willing to take."
Alan asks him to explain and Ricky offers us the option of nightgaunt blood and tells us that it will give us a temporary regenerative power. The downside is that we can't go through any genetics testing during the time it's active - approximately 24 hours later.
Te'ani refuses - "Hey, I'm good. This is all on you three." Liv, "That's right, Mister Regen. It's our decision."
She said this in front of Ricky, who started asking Te'ani a lot of questions. Liv knew what she was doing. She smiles as Te'ani glares daggers at her.
Liv accepts the transfusion, as does Alan and Kory. They stick around for an hour to make sure there are no additional side effects. While they were waiting, Liv slips away to talk to Luanne.
Luanne's still very damaged with little progress made for healing her. Liv is hesitant to speak with her, but she has questions. She isn't sure what Jack has talked to Luanne about so it is a little awkward. Liv asks what it would take for Luanne to re-establish a connection to the Society - or whatever she wants to call it. Luanne is hesitant to tell Liv about the organization; we're all in a precarious situation as is and the less that is known is better.
Liv agrees with that but again, she wants Luanne to establish contact with the Society for herself - Luanne requests an untraceable comm. It is made clear the Society, while having similar goals of the OIS... is definitely AT ODDS with them. Luanne recommends seeding information within the OIS to begin to test the waters and facilitate talks. Liv asks if recovering Freddy would help. "That would go a long way to smoothing some things over." She also recommends talking to Te'ani.
They couldn't return to the cabin to follow up with Bobby because they were avoiding genetic scanning, but the team didn't want to sit on their hands for 24 hours to be able to re-enter the city either. Where we dropped off Bobby is a couple more hours out... Liv insists that we pick up at the cabin instead, but that's.. dropped to focus more on locating Weaver's skull and portal.
Well, there are always ways to re-enter the city outside of the official means... as OIS we know that. That is our entire job - tracking these liabilities and plug them. For instance, there are the military tunnels, Tory, the Brothers, our contact within Sage Industries (David)... or call the office to get a reprieve from genetic testing.
We nix the idea of contacting Home Office very quickly. We may be given a lot of leeway, but we weren't willing to test the new favour of Director LeAnne. While we're debating on how to proceed, Kory's pip goes off. It's Tory... and she asks to talk to Liv.
Kory, "Why do you want to talk to Liv?" Tory, "Just... let me talk to Liv, please?"
"We wish to speak to our Little Sister."
The Brothers have come calling. Kory looks angry but hands over the pip. She doesn't ask what they're doing with Tory. She isn't curious enough to open that line of questioning.
Liv, "My Brothers... " "Little Sister, Brother has had a vision of you. Been doing something naughty with your dream friends, haven't you? Tut... tut... However, if you're willing to pay the price, we can assist you with your problem by giving you the key." Liv, "If I have to ask the price, I can't afford it." "Indeed."
Liv is hesitant and she looks to the others... but the decision is hers.
Liv, "Let's do this." "Very well, Little Sister. Go to 37640 Devin Terrace. You'll know where to find us." Liv, "See you there?" "Perhaps..."
Te'ani may have driven them out of the arcology, but Liv takes the keys to drive now that's she's back to full form. Devin Terrace is located outside the arcology, an abandoned city block that looks like any other. They look around but don't notice anything out of place... except for Te'ani. He leads the way to a manhole cover inside a building. He's able to pry it open to reveal another with an electronic lock.
Liv gets ready to crack the lock before Te'ani points out the DNA scanner. Everyone looks hesitant to put their finger in the hole. Cowards. Liv volunteers and the lock beeps and swings open to reveal a ladder leading down to a platform. Liv stops him when he attempts to join them.
Liv, "Te'ani, you're the only one of us that will come back human to enter the arcology. Take the car back and meet us inside." Te'ani, "What? Are we really splitting the party?" Liv, "I'm not happy about it either." Alan, "It isn't the most advisable plan." Liv, "We don't have a choice." Te'ani, "FINE... where are we meeting up?" Liv, "Chinese sound good?"
Three descend into the darkness. Te'ani goes back to the car, really not liking the idea of heading back alone. He comes back clean on the scanner and he enters the arcology with no questions asks.
- - - - -
The other three descend to a platform that has an elevator, leading even further down. Getting on, we have to press a button to continue our descent. We have to alternate pressing the button until we get down to the sixth level. Once it finally opens, the three are deep underground. We're well below the power station levels, close to where the military tunnels would be. It is dark, creepy... and those are definitely not rats we hear skittering about.
Alan can see that they're magically active creatures and when we step forward, several sit up and start watching our group... intently, even hungrily. Alan gets out his orbs and those scare off a few of the littler creatures, but there are still two to three hanging around. We get a closer look as we pass - they're not normal creatures, they definitely look like someone's magical experiment gone wrong.
The team walks about thirty to forty minutes in a general westward direction. It isn't a direct path, going up and down, weaving through the ground. Quite suddenly, the area opens up into an open market bazaar. We didn't expect... this. We didn't expect to see an entire city under Seattle.
Before we enter, we're stopped by two big green guys, demanding to know our business in the market. Liv is not good with negotiations, but luckily, Alan steps up and intimidates the guards to allow us entry. They warn us - "You no cause trouble. Enter. Trade."
Well, Liv didn't exactly expect to come to the market... this is a bit awkward...
With Alan's arcane sight going, he's aware of... a lot going on. There's a lot of people here - many of them outsider tainted. Most alarming is a man with three mystic unborn following him around. You could definitely say that we're staring back as much as we're being stared at. Behind Alan, a long spidery limb appears over his shoulder.
"You know, you really shouldn't be staring at people down here. People may take offense and put you down a deep, dark Pit."
"Wary" would definitely be a good word to describe this meeting.
The old man continues to talk and insults us by calling us clean and official looking. Well, maybe that isn't an insult - it's hard to tell. In the wrong place, that could be an insult? He offers to take us somewhere to get some new clothes to blend in a little better.
"The miss here has some major mojo. She can set you up, right?"
Wait, did he motion to Liv? The situation just went from leery to suspicious. How did he know that Liv had money? That was only a very, very recent affair...
He directs us to a little tent where a woman with a reddish sheen to her skin is sitting. She raises an eye at the old man, speaking to him directly. "What do you want here?"
He explains that our group needs new clothes - and that Liv is paying for it. "She's good for it, I assure you."
Kory finally, FINALLY hooks everyone up with a mental link.. and is immediately called out by the old man. He also knows that we're OIS and we "came down the pipeline." She seems alarmed to say the least. He is quick to point out that we'd only be using the back entrance into Seattle if we were no longer human...
"What kind of trouble have you brought to me?" Lilith asks reluctantly, but money is a great motivator. She gets the rundown on us - two parapsychics and one sorcerer. She avoids touching us, but she fits us with different clothing.
The price isn't discussed and Liv is reassured that it will be an unmarked transaction listed on her pip. Now that we look a little more... acceptable... The man introduces himself as "Jimmy."
He explains that we seem to be looking for a friend that we think is dead, but could possibly not be dead. The conversation gets confusing very quickly. Jimmy is much better at directing a conversation than Liv. Alan's the only one that picks up they're talking about two different people.
Jimmy asks, "Wait - how many people do you know that are dead that could be alive?"
"Two, three, maybe?"
Alan asks, "Is there any place we can be more direct with our conversation? And we can be of more help to each other?"
"Sure, I know a place. You're buying."
Liv, "Of course I am."
As he leads the way through the market, people give him a wide berth. Even those that wanted to victimize him are pulled away by others, a hushed warning given to them. He is quick for an old man and he leads the way through the tunnels. At this point, we're definitely inside the arcology... He climbs out of the pipes and through another manhole, through a building and into a vent duct. When we come out... we recognize this place.
The Golden Dragon is across the street, with Te'ani standing out front.
"Is that your friend?" Jimmy asks Kory. Liv confirms.
Jimmy walks across the street, "Friend, buddy, compadre! Let's eat. Your friend is buying."
"Who is this guy?" Te'ani is confused. Jimmy and Te'ani have a stare down....
The group enters the restaurant. Our table is set, our drinks are prepared and menus are in place. All pretenses are dropped, as is Kory's mental link.
Jimmy says to Te'ani, "I know what you are, freak." Te'ani does not like being called that.
"Name's Jimmy. I hear you're looking for a friend of mine, but Freddy's dead - I was there in Juneau when he died." What follows is a very productive chat...
He wasn't in Juneau for anything to do with the OIS.. unfortunately they didn't realize it was a setup until after the fact. He thanks us for rescuing Luanne. He asks where we got the notion that Freddy's alive.
Liv admits that she hugged George and got a vision. Liv lays out the information that Weaver and her team were in OIS custody - and eventually was settled into an OIS safehouse. He does not look happy about that revelation... only Liv catches the sight of his teeth becoming very.. sharklike.
Liv asks him to calm down - Jimmy assures her if he was upset with THEM... they wouldn't get a chance to counter.
He asks why we'd be willing to rescue one of the Society.
Te'ani says, "We might be OIS, but we could always use another perspective." Liv, "Director Elwood encouraged our unorthodox procedures."
Jimmy comments, "He did have some interesting friends." He knows where Luanne is and is aware of the nightgaunt pack. Liv requests he doesn't harm Ricky - he responds "I know George is there. George knows better."
He'll see what he can do on his end, but if we're able to recover Freddy... it will do a great deal in smoothing things over between our organizations. Luanne said much the same. If we do go across, feel free to return them (Weaver's team) dead or alive...
He gives us a warning about the minions of a common adversary have gained control over several artifacts. Alan admits we're aware of this, but disputes that they only have two.
Liv says they were looking for a friend that was holding the third and feared him dead. Jimmy says hopefully, he's still alive, but fears Liv may be right, because their latest information holds them at three.
Liv asks if they're aware of the location of the proposed summoning. They aren't. Liv gives him the coordinates.
He asks if we're aware of another threat - Alan asks, "The Ghoul?"
So we are aware of him! We learn that he's moved on from basic skeletons to "enhanced humans." Jimmy's not sure of the end goal yet.
Liv asks about Sage's sister - Jimmy confirms that she's one of "Them."
He turns to Alan, "You know some interesting words, my friend (Tagers and Dhohanoids). Where did you learn them?" Liv, "Director Elwood. So working together... does this make us friends?" "Allies of convenience at best. You're doing something I want. I have something you want. Our paths are aligned for now, whether they continue... remains to be seen."
Liv asks if he knows where the skull and portal are. He writes out a map of the sewers. "This is where it was last. Where it leads I don't know, if it's moved.. I don't know where it could be now. If you do go through with it... I hope you go more prepared than you're currently dressed. I think Weaver and her team were very unprepared. If they're alive, try to bring them back." If dead.. we don't have to bring back their bodies and we're welcome to whatever is on them of value.
He wishes us the best of luck, says he'll be in touch later, and thanks us for the "entertaining day."
Te'ani answers a few pointed questions from everybody. He finally admits that he is a Tager and that he was "chosen." Liv asks if it's like an engel - does it have a name? It doesn't, but he feels like its purpose is to "be joined with someone to give it a purpose."
It turns out that Alan has been doing his own research on the Eldritch Society...
It's questioned whether or not we really should go through the dimensional portal... time for Liv to admit she had been doing research as well, on the patron deity of sorcerers and parapsychics. Te'ani doesn't like the sound of that.
"Are we really sure we want to go through this dimensional portal for this guy?"
Liv is for going through the portal, but admits that it will be extremely dangerous...
Looking pointedly at Kory - "Remember the conversation on the way to the cabin? About who I betrayed?" Kory is no help at all. "A lot has happened, please refresh me, Liv."
So she reviews the information - when she recovered the artifact from Weaver's team, she was under instructions to take it to an address. She instead brought it to the OIS for safekeeping. Those instructions were from the patron deity of sorcerers and parapsychics. The guys don't look happy about this revelation. Kory begins to tease Liv with the name - Liv stresses, "Don't say the N-word!"
GETTING BACK TO THE STORY!
"In this dimension, I brought the artifact to the OIS, delaying the summoning. I'm fairly certain that did not happen in that dimension..."
Te'ani, "So you think that we're going to be heading to a world where Mother has been summoned."
Liv, "Yeah... and I'm fairly certain we'll be going against myself..."
Good dinner conversation, team.

Interlude - 04.06.2085
Interlude - 04.06.2085
Liv felt strange as she walked down the aisle of the 24/7 bodega. She usually made a beeline for the soup aisle before picking up lunchmeat and a loaf of bread and leaving. She had to add a grocery day since a certain teenager made a habit of making herself at home. It was like Kory never fed her little sister, but she knew that wasn't true. Teenagers just had voracious appetites.
Frozen dinners. Apple juice. Tomato juice. Frozen vegetables. Fruit. Ramen. Bread. A few other odds and ends. Liv packed her grocery bags carefully, heavy things on bottom, the bread and lighter items on top. She was never disturbed in this bodega when she shopped - that's why she appreciated it. Even when she looked like hell warmed over, she only received a few curious glances.
She had to admit she was exhausted by the time she made her way home. With the food put away, she didn't even make it to her bed and just crashed on the couch.
It was strange being able to grab an apple before work the next morning. She could get used to it.
For Ryan 04.07.2085
It's hard to believe it's been a week since Director Elwood's demise. Where to start?
Given a few days adjustment... I think you'd admire our new Director. She gets shit done - maybe not in the most people-friendly way, but she gets it done. Her name is Christine LeAnne.
The new teamster has settled in... she's getting more comfortable with us. Te'ani took her out partying the other night for a team building exercise - they're the only two that went. Alan and myself passed because of our team's track record with clubbing. I don't think anything too exciting happened, maybe it's just because Alan and myself didn't tag along.
I got stabbed. I was your roomie for a couple hours before I was discharged. You were still in a coma at the time and the doctors don't know why. They say you should have snapped out of it by now. At least in a coma you don't have to worry about being bothered by all the cute, young nurses that keep coming to check on you. Haha.
I changed my name. It's Frostburn instead of Grasse now.
A few of the cases we were handling merged together and we tied them up with the help of the NEG. It was exciting and we got to meet General Simms. I didn't think to get his autograph.
We destroyed priceless forestry and Director LeAnne approved.

November 27, 2020 Game Notes - Home for the Holidays... Not!
April 06, 2085
A hospital isn't the most relaxing of places, but most are in a need of urgent care after the fiasco. The doctors recommended at least two weeks of recovery time for Liv, but there's no rest for the wicked. Liv got patched up enough to be able to walk out of the hospital with the promise of following up with an outpatient clinic over the next few weeks.
Alan is also in and out of the hospital with the same promise. Kory registers Tory and gets treated at the same time. The morning is a busy time for the team, except for Te'ani. He's FINE.
Liv gets back her Godkiller when she gets out of the hospital and meets up with him at the office.
When they do drag themselves into the office their appearances are noticed. Director LeAnne asks - "What happened to you?"
Alan answers with "A bar fight." ... "And what are my agents doing in a bar fight?" Liv answers, "I was stabbed. In a mugging. Wrong place, wrong time." Tory supplies, "My sister erupted as a parapsychic and I got injured in the process." Te'ani, "I don't know what happened to these guys. I'm fine!"
It is clear the Director does not believe our stories. She did appreciate the flowers we sent, however. We're been tasked to complete a few normal missions, but in the "downtime" we work on other business.
We reviewed the GIA notes of the Witch sighting. She was last seen on April 3rd in a raid outside the arcology. They were raiding a location that was dealing drugs, weapons, and other illicit gear. Her profile was flagged as a person of interest, but they were unable to capture her. With us knowing that she has shapeshifting or shapechanging magic, we have almost no chance of tracking her if we head to the location. We shelf the information as a point of interest.
Next we follow-up finding the location of the ceremony. Between referencing the maps from the Black Goat Forest case and the book from the Farm, the team is able to narrow down the most likely location - a spot in the North Cascades & Mt Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Within that entire 75k square acres of land, while it would make sense... there is another location that would be more opportune for a summoning. There's a spot about six and a half miles northeast that meets all of the requirements - isolation, a good view of the stars.... While Liv has a blond moment, Kory saves the day by pointing out it wouldn't be difficult to use as a summoning point... to supernatural creatures.
We're pretty certain we've narrowed it down. We organize the paperwork and bring it to Director LeAnne. We present the situation and our evidence. She looks at us and the evidence, picks up the phone and starts dialing.
Liv is expecting her to call security and get thrown out.
The phone rings and General Kareebi answers. Director LeAnne demands two squads with power armour to bomb the site. He argues with her, giving excuses for why he can't possibly allocate the resources. He hangs up on her.
Director LeAnne is furious. "He wants to play ball, FINE. I'll play ball... and his are soft and squishy." She picks up the phone and presses a button, looks at us.
"You can be here for this." Liv is intrigued.
"Raimes here." - She has contacted the Global OIS Director Harold Raimes. She lays out the situation and the NEG denial for support.
"Hold please." The hold music is pleasant and last no more than 30 seconds.
Raimes returns and says, "Get him on the line."
LeAnne gets Kareebi on the phone; he's irritated she's calling again. A new voice joins the call. General Simms, head of the Global NEG Military. He demands the support, Kareebi falters, makes excuses.
Simms says, "You are relieved of command. Arrest him." There is screaming and gunfire on Kareebi's end of the line. Simms comes back on the line. There is apparently a situation at the base and he requests LeAnne send a squad to handle the situation until he arrives in three hours. He hangs up.
Raimes says, "Good job, LeAnne. Your team did a good job. Whatever we find there will be a nice feather in your cap."
LeAnne seems pleased when she gets off the phone. "Good job. Make sure this doesn't fall through. Otherwise I assure you it will roll downhill. Take Pahl's team with you."
We prepare for bear in thirty with Pahls at the helm of the Baskerville and head over to the military base.
It is utter chaos. The command is in turmoil, entire units don't have orders - or worse, conflicting orders. No one knows what is going on. Te'ani gets everyone's attention, says he's in charge. Everyone just accepts it, asks him his orders - "No one leave the base." He admits he hadn't thought past that order.
We lock down the base. Around two hours later (3 hours after the telephone call), a transport ship runs low into Seattle airspace and is challenged by Annette's Werewolf. Their IFF codes come back as NEG military and they help to secure the base.
Knowing there are Engels stationed here, we decide to split the party, leaving Annette and her copilot with the dropship to watch things topside. We take three with us to secure the engels and get them in order or under our command. Before we leave, Kory links everyone with a telepathic relay with their permission.
Via Kory's relay Te'ani to our group - "Why am I in charge?" Liv to Te'ani - "Congratulations on being the Director's favorite." Te'ani - "Do we loop them into Kareebi being a shapeshifter?" Liv - "Yes. If they see Kareebi, the orders are shoot to kill."
Everyone locks and loads with those orders.
We make our way down to the mecha hanger and we're confronted by an active Engel - one we're familiar with! The last time we saw it, it was perched on a cargo ship infested with bugs. It turns, looks at us, and waves.
All four engels are active and seem to be protecting the mecha from being piloted. Te'ani asks them to be updated on their situation. They decided because of the conflicting orders, they weren't going to do anything. We inform them that the OIS is in charge, keep pilots away from the armour, and if they see Kareebi... shoot to kill.
The Engel pilot's name is Nigel Otherion, his engel's name is Snick. He'll get the engels in order if we have people up top we trust. We do - Annette! We leave them to their business.
Te'ani relays concerns that everyone in the high command at this base is now suspect as a shifter. When we get to the Tower to lockdown the outside... the situation has escalated. The personnel inside are pointing guns at each other.
Alan gets their attention by demanding they holster their weapons and stand down. Liv mutters she could always just make them lay down their weapons. Te'ani tells Liv to cool it. We discover the personnel are at odds over their orders. Te'ani demands to know who the conflicting orders are coming from - well... from no one. They're using the playbook entry for "lost communications with base command."
Liv, "Are there two books?" Why as a matter of fact... Yes, yes there are.
What a headache. Comparing the books... they're a mess. It's as if anyone who put these into circulation was looking to cause as much chaos as possible. We could choose one or the other to use, but that wouldn't work if any of the personnel transferred out.
We contact the dropship for a copy of THEIR playbook. NONE of the codes are correct.
Kory wants to contact Director LeAnne to give her an update - Liv is against it because our objective of locating Kareebi isn't complete. Kory attempts to contact Director LeAnne... she gets General Simms. She updates him on the situation - the codebooks are all wrong. "Then don't use them. What is the situation with Kareebi?" We haven't located him. "Do not let him escape."
He hangs up. Liv doesn't want to say "I told you so" but...
Everyone seems to have itchy trigger fingers after Te'ani lets it slip there's a shapeshifter on the loose. We regain order by threatening them with our own itchy trigger fingers... on a Werewolf. Annette is happy to oblige the show of power. They fall in line quickly.
She pesters one of the nearest officers for the location of Kareebi's office. "End of the hall, the door with the gold foil. You can't miss it." She gets the attention of the team and they proceed.
It's an absolute bloodbath to put it lightly. When we open the doors, blood rushes into the hall. From what we can tell, there are three fallen soldiers, which the pieces of three more strewn around the room. There seems to be a trail of blood leading into the ventilation shafts. Liv closes the doors of the office after they enter to investigate.
Te'ani - "That's probably too little, too late." Liv - "It can't hurt."
Te'ani was not pleased, considering General Simms directive of "do not let him escape." Liv has a wicked grin on her face when she suggests sending fire through the metal ventilation shafts... but also points out that everyone in the building needs air to breathe.
Alan, "Good idea, but let's hold off on that." Te'ani looks for a way that we can close the ventilation - as a matter of fact... that can be controlled from Kareebi's desk. She spins in the chair before focusing on the controls. She presses a button, the vents close with a "SHUNK!"
New idea! Use electrokenesis, find where an anomaly is in the shaft, then burn it! She closes her eyes, and focuses her electrokenesis. There's nothing in the shafts but... She points to one of the fallen soldiers. "That one is alive." Kory narrows her eyes, looks surprised and shouts. "IT'S KAREEBI!" That probably would have been better shared in the telepathic link.
Kareebi launches tentacles at Kory, who deftly dodges.
Liv, "Hey, I've seen this anime." Kory, "Of course you have." Alan, "It doesn't end well."
Kory reacts by drawing her gun and shooting Kareebi. Te'ani pulls his gun and shoots three times. "Kareebi" is dead. Very, very dead.
We contact General Simms. Kareebi is dead. Simms replies, "That is upsetting. I give you the authorization to get the base under control through any means necessary. I will arrive in three hours."
We make the announcement through Kareebi's office - "The OIS is officially in command of this military base until further notice." With that being officially announced, the confusion on the parade grounds calms down.
We inspect the guy closer - it isn't a monster and it isn't "General Kareebi." We find his TRUE identity. An apparently unregistered sorcerer named Timothy Graine.
A second dropshift arrives promptly 3 hours later. A tall, blond, Nordic viking steps off the craft. The crowd parts for him - even an engel.
He strides into the office, looks at the corpse. "That is not Kareebi. Who is he?" Timothy Graine, an unregistered sorcerer that assumed Kareebi's identity. "He's been here since the graduation. That's upsetting to say the least. You have my thanks. You recovered one of my military bases. I won't forget that." We ask about the air support for our strike. "You have two squads to command. Don't lose any of them and they will follow your orders."
Needless to say, Momma won't be coming Home.
Outstanding Tasks - Thank Patricia Elwood hosting us and humoring our questions (will send dragon tulips) - Follow up with Luanne to see how her status. - Follow up on Weaver's and company's activities. Follow the nightgaunt Itsy Bitsy into the sewers to locate their last known location. Attempt to track them, find the skull. Possibly cross dimensions and locate one of the Society's missing members (Freddy).
Completed - Review the GIA notes from their incident with The Witch. {Date: April 03. Location: Outside arcology. Knowing she has shapeshifting abilities, it will likely be extremely difficult to track her. } - Find "Pristine Forest" for summoning ritual {destroyed with NEG strike}

Liv's Journal - 04.06.2085
"You're a walking disaster." The white from Director Elwood's personal security team wasn't wrong. We should have prepared better. We knew something was after Bobby. Why didn't I bring better armour? This is what I get for being optimistic and not preparing for bear... ow.
We're lucky the creatures didn't come in a stronger pack. The doctors were surprised I was still alive and I have to agree. It took a few hours to get me out of the danger zone; nanobots in a blood transfusion was just a stopgap until they could get me into surgery.
"How did I end up like this?" I was in the wrong neighborhood and I got mugged. That's what I told them.
I'll be here for a few days if I don't sneak out. I put in a request to share a room with Ryan. This has given me a chance to check up on him again. He's still in a coma, which baffles the doctors. They said he should be out of it by now. Maybe his wounds were more serious than it seemed. If I had his permission I wouldn't mind helping out the doctors, but I am far from professional. It's more of a party trick than anything - like my teleportation.
This forced downtime will give me time to reflect on things that are bothering me. Bobby... maybe I was mistaken. Maybe he was just feeling off. No one else seemed to have alarm flags ringing when he didn't mentioned or recognize we were missing Tory. I have to be mistaken.
Reflecting on... my name - Grasse.
It's a name I've used my entire life to define who I am. When I found out the Grasses weren't my real parents I asked them about my biological parents. They told me they were fostering me because it was a closed process by request of my biological parents. They didn't want me. They could have been lying and it wouldn't be the first time. I could always use my connections in the OIS to find my bio parents, but what would be the point?
Why would the Grasses lie? To placate the questions they didn't want to answer? It doesn't matter anymore. Why open up the past? It is better to look to the future. Dreams, desires, and hopes. That was what I was told to write on a week ago. How do I define myself? I define myself by what I can do - my parapsychic abilities. Is it time that my name reflected my abilities?
I can command an inferno or whisper of flame, but that isn't all I am. All of the environmental powers are at my disposal - why focus on just fire.... why not change my name to allude to the powers? The Nazzadi change their names all the time. I should embrace that part of me and forge a new path for the future.
Olivia Frostburn. That sounds comfortable.
Tory. She isn't my responsibility even if she attempts to cling to me. She wanted to be a parapsychic so badly. Be careful what you wish for.

Game Notes - 11.13.20 - Buggin' Out... Again
April 05, 2085 (continued)
Upstairs...
Te'ani, Liv, and Kory are facing off against five of the Horned Ones when they hear shattering windows from downstairs. Two Horned Ones pounce for Te'ani, two pounce for Liv, and one goes for Kory. The creatures get in a few good hits; Liv manages to dodge one, only to take a sharp claw in the gut.
Liv doubles down on her orgone to attack the creatures, attempting to crush the one that stabbed her. They are surprisingly resilient and agile. Kory takes the opportunity to mindwipe the one attacking her. She is surprised that it works as well as it does as it flops to the ground in a drooling heap.
Screams come from downstairs.
The one Liv attempted to crush is angry and takes that anger out on Liv, who is looking much worse for the wear as a result. Te'ani looks at Kory and pleads, "Don't shoot me." He transforms into a familiar creature that Liv recognizes and attacks the creatures, ripping apart one. Liv focuses on the one that attacked her and finishes the job, crunching it with gravikinesis. Kory mindworms another, turning it into a vegetable.
Te'ani phases into one of the mantis ladies and explodes her from within, leaving one still sentient and standing. Kory double-taps the ones she comatosed.
Te'ani heads downstairs. Liv takes a breather to staunch the blood before Kory follows Te'ani.
Meanwhile downstairs...
Bobby, Alan, and Tory are surprised as the windows and doors shatter and three Mantis Horned Ones enter. Tory is entranced while Bobby and Alan are able to shake it off. Two attack Bobby and one goes after the teenager, who begins drawing her outside.
Alan takes out his orbs and takes a shot at one of the ones holding Bobby while one of his orbs attempts to snipe at the one luring away Tory. Bobby is dragged out the front door while the one luring out Tory turns her attention to Alan and attacks. Alan keeps the Mantis preoccupied while Tory continues being fascinated.
Te'ani arrives to jump into the fray against Alan's mantis creature. Kory arrives and mindworms the last bug. Between Alan and Te'ani's transformed state, they take it out. Te'ani heads back upstairs before Tory is out of her fugue.
Bobby is still gone when Tory starts becoming aware... then disappears to reappear in front of Liv and Te'ani upstairs. She's erupted as a parapsychic and is going through a burn. One of her powers is teleportation. Liv and Kory attempt to talk her down... but it has no effect in calming her and she disappears. Kory's unable to contact her with her pip; Liv points out to Kory to use her telepathy... and she still can't contact her. Uh oh.
They get into a discussion of what they need to do next and the team is divided. Kory wants to find her sister, Alan is suggesting hospital care, Liv is adamant our course needs to be to find Bobby. About that time, Bobby walks through the door covered in blood.
He says Liv looks like shit. He's not wrong - she feels like it too! He offers her a drink, intending to pour a glass - she takes the bottle. He allows it, asking if we got rid of all of them. Liv says that indeed, we did.
{ Kory sends a message to Liv, asking if "Daddy" would know if Tory is safe. Liv says, "What part of betraying an Elder God don't you understand? I don't know and I'm not contacting him to find out." Kory leaves the mental connection between them. }
Bobby says he's going to pack a bag before we bug out of this place. Liv starts heading to the car very carefully. Kory attempts to help her, but Liv flatly tells her, "Unless you're going to pick me up, do NOT touch me."
By the time he has his bag packed, she has made her way to the car and settled in. Liv keeps looking at Bobby, hoping he'd catch on they're missing someone... but there's no mention of the missing teenager.
When everyone's in, Bobby tells him to head to Seattle and drive fast. He points to a town on the way back, telling Te'ani to pull in and drop him off here. We're concerned, but Bobby reassures us they won't be looking for him here.
They're more likely to keep eyes on us, thinking we have the piece.
We enter the arcology and Kory is able to get in touch with her sister - who is very confused and frightened. She can't stop, even disappearing in the middle of the conversation before returning. Alan states it would be wise to get to the hospital. Kory wants to be with her sister, stating she'll deal with the burn "tomorrow." Liv adamantly corrects her - "No, you will deal with it NOW. Get her registered NOW and get her Burn treated."
Te'ani and Kory drop Alan and Liv off at the hospital - Liv tucks the Godkiller into Te'ani's bag for safekeeping and takes her own overnight bag to saunter into the hospital with Alan.
Medical care within the arcology is very prompt. Liv requests to be roomed with Ryan, knowing she'll be in-house for a few days at least, even helping with her own psychic healing. Strangely, Ryan is still in a coma and the doctors are baffled why - he should have come out of it by now.

October 30, 2020 Game Notes / April 5, 2085 (continued)
Te'ani reviewed the GIA report that Director LeAnne has forwarded him and shared with the team. The GIA were conducting a drug raid when they encountered supernatural entities. There were a total of three creatures sighted - they were able to kill it with overwhelming firepower, but two were able to escape. They were extremely fast and mobile.. and luckily not integrity scale.
The descriptions of the creatures are similar to the ones that were seen at the military base. There was also a person matching the description of The Witch that evaded capture. No mention of her "Mister Green" - the muscle from the Gibbering Horror case. While it isn't an entirely solid lead, it's better than what we have had. We put this on the back burner for now.
While he was in the office, Te'ani picked up the latest in the office gossip. Sergeant Malhoune, the director's new secretary perished in a tragic fire in her apartment complex. The fire consumed everything and there were no survivors. Oddly, there was nothing supernatural reported... Looks like the chocolates Liv ordered is going to be delivered to an empty desk tomorrow. Oops.
We went back to attempting to hunt down Bobby, coming up short on ideas. We decide to go through the list of safehouses. Liv says it isn't a good idea - not thinking he'll be there, also worried if there is someone in the houses, their locations will be exposed. Te'ani suggests removal of Liv and Kory's pips to prevent them being tracked. Liv laughs in his face and there is a very in-depth explanation of why that is a VERY BAD IDEA for both parapsychics and the sorcerer. Te'ani quips, "Sucks to be you."
It takes about 6 hours to check the safehouses, but each one is a bust and they don't find Bobby.
Liv remembers that when Bobby was brought in to pick up the "package," there were two agents that brought him in. We interview them (Frank and Barry) and ask where they dropped him off. They're confused and reply, "We dropped him off at his house, like the Director said."
We find the address they took him, but it doesn't appear anyone has been here for weeks. Liv suggests the team heads back to the office to pull up the camera feeds to track Bobby with facial recognition. There's no result, even though we do see him on the cameras. He's dropped off in front of the address of his house and they drive away. He then proceeds to travel into a subway tunnel. Once inside the subway, we lose track of him and we're back to square one.
There's little that we know about Bobby... but one of the things we know is that the Director and Bobby were friends. Liv suggests a wild idea - let's check out where the dead Director lives. Te'ani is skeptical - "Could it really be that easy?"
The only way to know is to go there.
Director Elwood's home is in a very nice section of Seattle, complete with a private security detail. Lights are on and it seems as if someone is still living there. We're stopped at the gate, asking our business.
Liv explains we're looking for "Bobby" - the officer doesn't recognize the name. Then they flip up their helmet to reveal themselves as a white. "Will you submit to a mind probe?"
Liv answers before the others - "Yes." The rest of the team isn't happy with her answer. They're asked to step out of the vehicle. Security is thorough, questioning us and going through our pips. The white quips that Liv is a "walking disaster" - she agrees. When they come to Te'ani, they confirm he has amnesia, then headed off to the side to contact someone.
Te'ani catches the mention of a "Code Blue" before they come back to us to give us permission to head up to the house. There is the off-mention of "ma'am" and Kory thinks that the house was transferred to the new Director. Everyone else is confused what Code Blue means - Te'ani explains that it means that they found false information in our pips. He looks at Liv, who is confused why he is looking at her.
They head up to the house; two cars in the driveway. There is a very brief question of how we're going to approach before Liv just... presses the doorbell. A pleasant looking, elderly nazzadi woman answers the door, asking us to come in and inquiring if we're Elwood's companions for his business. Te'ani says yes, while Liv says "No." She picks up very quickly we have no idea what she's talking about.
She's a sharp cookie.
She introduces herself as Patricia Elwood, Louis' wife. After that awkward icebreaker, we introduce ourselves and introduce ourselves as OIS agents. We express our condolences and make small talk before getting down to business - we're looking for Bobby.
He's not here, and she isn't sure where he'd be. In between all of the family photos (his wife, two female children - one nazzadi, one amlati), one catches Liv's eye - one of Bobby and Louis together at a lake. She inquires about it - it was taken about ten years ago at one of the lakes up north somewhere -  Lake Stevens. It turns out... that's very close to where we originally picked Bobby up.
Liv asks if she can take a picture of the picture, wanting to be sure we got the right house when we head up there. Patricia looks at us like we're stupid. "Why not just ask for the address?"
Te'ani apologizes - "We tend to take the complicated route..."
Liv asks if it would be okay to send flowers as an appreciation; Patricia says yes, she loves flowers. Her favourite flower is dragon tulips.
She says if we find him to tell him "fuck you" from her. Kory gladly accepts! Knowing it will be close to sundown when we arrive, Liv asks for permission for the team to spend the night in the cabin. Patricia says yes.
Figuring out the time, it's expected if we leave immediately we'll arrive close to 5 pm. With it being a possibly overnight trip, Kory battles with herself over getting a babysitter. Instead, she brings her younger sister Tory with them. She is a very enthusiastic teenager and keeps the mood buoyant.
Liv invites Kory into her mind for a private conversation.
{ - - - - - Liv's conversation with Kory. Liv asks Kory what she found while in her head without permission. Relieved that she was kicked out before she found out anything, Liv reminds her that she DID warn her not to mess with her mind. Liv then explains what Kory missed out on the previous day - updating her on the vision she received when she hugged George - going through a skull, and the man in a ruined wasteland asking for help. The skull was being looked for by Weaver's team, the man was recognized as someone Luanne knew and was presumed dead. And Liv thinks the skull leads to another dimension. Liv asks if Kory wants to know more - adamant on not answering until she gets an answer - Kory says yes. Liv, "I betrayed an Elder God." Kory shuts down the conversation. - - - - - }
Kory is shaken by what Liv tells her and immediately tells Tory that she's going to be sent packing to the grandparents, leading to an argument between the sisters. Tory is NOT happy - Liv puts on some bops from her pip to lighten the mood, which utterly fails. Tory asks Liv if she can move in with her; Liv says yes.
Te'ani recognizes that SOMETHING happened. The parapsychics are keeping secrets.
{ - - - - - (From Jona H. (GM)): Knock Knock Knock (From Jona H. (GM)): No problem, you hear it repeat 2x more (To Jona H.): I should thank Daddy for protecting my mind from the probe. So, Thank you. (From Jona H. (GM)): You're welcome (To Jona H.): I'm still undergoing punishment for betraying you. Aren't I? (From Jona H. (GM)): Why ever would I punish you? You punish yourself. (To Jona H.): I can't say I regret it, Daddy. I'm not ready for the world to end just yet. You saw what I saw, felt what I felt? Doubles. (From Jona H. (GM)): There is always something interesting to watch, as you will see (To Jona H.): oh God... - - - - - }
We arrive at Lake Stevens. There's a heavy military presence with at least 3 squads of mecha stationed nearby. They check all of our credentials and it takes at least a half hour before we get a reply back - they wave us through. We find the house and the lights are on.
Te'ani volunteers Liv to go knock on the door. She does so and gets a shotgun to the face as Bobby answers the door.
He's not happy that we found him. He invites us in, asks us what we want. Liv cuts Kory off before she tells Bobby to "fuck off." He's surprised Tory is with us - "Who brought the kid?"
Liv explains that the team needs help translating the Book, looking for the dates and location of the summoning of the Black Goat. He looks at the pictures Liv took of the book. It seems the optimal time to summon Shubby would be anywhere between April 10th - April 24th. Optimal location - "Where pristine forest grows."
The 10th is only when they need to start the summons. All three pieces are required to start - once that happens... a slew of Bad Things will start happening, including Dark Ones - the spawn of Mother herself. We've only dealt with a single chained and dying Dark One.
Bobby says we need to focus on finding the pristine forest and then calling in a military strike to lay it to waste. If they manage to summon Her, you can write off the entire Northeast. Tory isn't happy to hear that - that's where she keeps her stuff!
Liv looks at Kory and emphasizes, "ruined wasteland."
{ Kory opens up a telepathic link to Liv and asks if Shubby is the one she betrayed. Liv says no. Kory, "Fuck." }
The good news - we have time before they have to start the summons and we just need to play "Hot Potato" until the 24th against a massive, dangerous organization that is accumulating the artifacts for the summons.
Liv brings up the maps they had recovered from the Dark One's woods for Bobby to look at, but they're interrupted by loud thumps on the roof. Tory asks if Bobby has a harem up there. He's really baffled why we brought Tory with us. She is ready and willing to join us to find out what is making that noise. Liv and Bobby both tell her no - and Bobby points out that he has a gun and she doesn't.
They manage to make it up the stairs... unfortunately the creatures are aware. The gorgeous praying mantis women from the Farm. Horned Ones came for the artifact.
To Do List:
- Access the GIA notes from their incident with The Witch. October 16, 2020 Game Notes - Show Your Appreciation
April 4, 2085 (continued)
Liv shows Ricky the pictures of the monsters from New York. He IDs one of them - the tentacle one and says that he transformed into a nazzadi male. Kory continues to trash talk the Director - Liv warns her to stop saying such things aloud. You don't know who is listening.
Kory tries to give Liv a hard time about staggering back from George's hug. Liv pointed out if she wanted firsthand knowledge of why she staggered back... just ask George for permission for a hug. George opens his arms, Kory says no.
Liv asks if Alan remembers anything from the Cultists' book. He doesn't remember much since he didn't get a good chance to look at it. What he does remember is that it wasn't written in a human language, but did have notes in the margin in an ancient human language.
At Te'ani suggestion, he asks Kory if they could do a group-chat with telepathy. She thinks for a moment before she says yes and attempts to link our minds. She starts bleeding profusely from the nose and passes out. Every nightgaunt cringes away from the group as Te'ani attempts to wake her up.
She's awakened and Ricky takes a look at her... and so does Alan. Something strange is going on - she claims she's lost her powers. They get into an intense discussion, examining her aura. For lack of better terms... it seems like her powers have been "clipped." This rather excites Ricky, who points out that this could be a GOOD thing if they could figure out how it happened.
She seems worried that she could have lost her powers forever, but Alan and Ricky both agree that it seems her powers are already regenerating, but they aren't sure when they'll be back. Kory takes offense to the ongoing debate about shearing peoples' powers. Alan agrees with Ricky that it could be useful and so does Liv. Te'ani's the only one that points out that it could have BAD uses as well. Kory says "fuck you all" and leaves.
Liv takes the gun and the test. Te'ani takes the pyramid to the car, finding that it's a lot lighter than it looks. Te'ani apologizes in advance for what he's going to be doing - brown-nosing the Director. He asks Alan about spells to block information gathering devices. Alan does know a few. Liv says it's possible to block tech devices, but she couldn't do it currently. Te'ani asks us "We agree the new Director sucks, right?" Liv is adamant - "She is our boss and we need to do what she says."
They head back to the office with a game plan - Te'ani will speak with the Director, Liv is on book translation duty, Alan will take the test and pyramid to log them in as recovered, and Kory is going home.
Alan hands over the artifacts to Franklin, who knocks on the pyramid... and gets an answering knock. Franklin nopes out of touching those artifacts, but logs them for Alan.
Te'ani speaks with the Director and gets a praising review for recovering the artifacts. He finds out that she has a new secretary, but doesn't care enough to get her name. The Director conveys that the GIA has picked up some leads on The Witch.
Liv has a translation dictionary and is on the hard duty of the Book. She's getting frustrated - "This book is DENSE and I'm having to use the translation every other word." ... Gee, if only the team had an expert on such things... like Bobby. "Sonovabitch."
Te'ani requests a computer trace from Liv on the secretary. "Did you get her name?" That's a no.
We bat around a few ideas - asking permission from the Director, just do it without telling her, or faking orders. We decide to just do it without asking. Te'ani escorts Luanne to the car for transport and gets her situated. Alan and Liv join him and while they're in transit, Liv asks Luanne a question.
"Did Weaver ever mention anything about skulls?" She gets a side-eye for the question - "She liked to collect them, but she was a little off. All of them were a little... 'off.'" Fair enough.
They arrive at the safehouse, Ricky greets them again, he's introduced to Luanne.
Now that they are in a more secure environment, Liv asks Luanne another question. "Is there someone your... Community would be attempting to find?" She gives the description of the tall, pale man she saw in her vision. Luanne recognizes him - "That's Freddy. But that's impossible because he's dead. He went missing in Juneau."
Liv isn't too sure about that... And she explains her idea that Weaver's team might have been attempting to find him - and the relevance of her skull question. Luanne becomes animated as she attempts to think - flailing awkwardly. She remembers that there was a brief mention of a skull in one of Weaver's reports - located in the sewers and not somewhere they'd normally come across.
Liv looks to Ricky. "Can you tell us where you met with our friends?" He can, in fact. Itsy Bitsy - an emaciated nightgaunt with bones bending at odd angles and too many joints - came to find Ricky. George heard Weaver's call, but Itsy found them. He could lead us there.
Te'ani has some private questions for Luanne while Alan, Ricky, and Liv chill in another room. They hear her impressive cursing through the door. Ricky should take notes.
Ricky, Luanne, and Alan talk sorcerer medicine while Te'ani and Liv spend the night. Liv asks if Te'ani asked Luanne if she could contact the Community. He said it didn't come up. Liv shares her concern that they may be getting out of their depth as OIS agents and may need backup from their possible allies.
April 05, 2085
Liv and Te'ani go to pick up Kory and bring her to the safehouse. Tory answers the door and Liv is hugged fiercely. Tory assumes Te'ani is another of Liv's boyfriends and asks when the Twins will be back. Te'ani winks at Tory.
Kory is still upset from yesterday... and we meet their new pet - a cat they named Bast.
Tory keeps questioning Liv about the Brothers, Te'ani adds to the teasing, and she nopes out to go home to shower and change clothes. They grab Kory, Tory is sent to school, and Liv does her search on the secretary on the way back to the safehouse and Alan. She finds that Sergeant Karen Malhoune was appointed by General Kareebi after Director LeAnne requested someone from the secretary pool with the proper clearance. Liv orders chocolates for the Director's new secretary.
Dear Sergeant Karen Malhoune. Welcome to the OIS office. We're happy you were available to assist our Director. Please enjoy these chocolates as a token of our appreciation. - Te'ani, Alan, Kory, & Liv
As an afterthought, Liv decides to order flowers and chocolates for Director LeAnne as well.
To: OIS Director LeAnne From: Te'ani, Alan, Kory, & Liv We wish to extend a warm welcome and say that we look forward to working under your leadership. Please enjoy these flowers to brighten your office and treats to indulge yourself.
On the ride back to the safehouse, Liv is silent on what Kory missed when she took off the afternoon. To find Bobby, Te'ani wants to check out the "not" safe houses from Director Elwood's list. Liv says no on that idea - The ones marked not disturb are occupied. The list is OLD, therefore wouldn't have been updated by Elwood if he was hiding Bobby in one of the houses - and it certainly wouldn't be listed as already occupied.
We're off to check out one of the "iffy" safehouses in hopes Bobby is there.
