Movie Review: The Fast and the Furious

Welcome to the Family.

The beginning of a billion dollar franchise. I had seen this one before. Its definitely of its time. Very 2000s action flick. Not sure if I would have seen this is 2001 and gone “yeah I’ma need 9 more of these”, but people are obviously going.

I think its biggest issue is its just kind of boring and basic. Its storytelling is predictable, and the performances are only decent.

I wouldn’t watch it again, but for the culture its fine.

just a little decoration

I always loved those old school (and by that I mean circa 2015-2018) planners where everyone did their weekly planning using all the stickers. I think it goes back to sticker collecting being my first ever item I collected as a child. They were housed in a dollar store photo album, cause you could put the sticker on the inserts and peel them off. and the whole point was trying to upgrade your way to better stickers, on the sticker market being run by the older daycare children.

I have to say I upcycled two basic Sandylion stickers all the way to 2 scratch and sniff stickers. One smelt like cola and the other bananas. Those were my prized possessions as a 6 yr old. Sadly they no longer smell, but more shocking is I still have them. definitely need to clear out the basement 🤣

Movie Review: Persuasion

I’m half agony, no hope.

This film … If they were shooting a perfume commercial than all the shots in Bath were a success.

This was not an adaptation of Jane Austens’s Persuasion. With phrases like “If you’re a five in London, you’re a ten in Bath” and “I’m an empath”. This movie just left me like who was this for?

Why didn’t they just make a modern adaptation of Pride and Prejudice if thats what they wanted?

I mean by the end of the film Ann and Wentworth are basically sidelined. They gave a tertiary characters a wedding over the two leads.

Hated it. Would not recommend.

and the occasional:

✅ t&p journal

t&p stands for thoughts and prayers. its where all that ranty, anger journalling goes. where my process journalling goes. where my depression journalling goes. and then sometimes when i’m seeking scripture where it goes. its also where gratitude goes.

basically its every unpretty thought but also the kind i don’t ever return to. i still need to write it down, i’m a healthier human when i do but i’m not sharing those thoughts with the world.

lol sometimes i even forget to dot my i’s and cross my t’s when i write in this journal i go so fast 🤣

but my favourite journal will always be my memory keeping one. i love flipping through it.

okay so audiobooks

…. i have decided i like them. i can now double my capacity to read in a week because audiobooks allow me to do things while listening. so in some instances its replaced music listening.

i don’t like them as much as music listening or physically reading but i found my enjoyment of them is very contingent on the narrator. if there’s a good narrator i get super immersed.

i haven’t decided what makes a narrator good to me yet. it could be the way they engage with the material, their manor of delivery through tonal shifts, inflections, etc. but i know i liked the narrator for Hotline and for the Hobbit it was the bbc radio production and that had music and atmosphere so very engaging.

🎧 give me some audiobook suggestions plsss 🎧

my hobonichi order

i recieved my 2024 hobonichi order earlier this month and everytime i see the box, i just want to start my new journals/planners.

I once again (third year running) got a weeks and this year i got another a6 hon.

last year i setup my weeks in october so i didn’t have to worry about it come the end of the year. i’m thinking of doing that again this year. i’ve already been trying out different layouts for things that i want to improve from last years setup. super excited!!

Movies and goals post

so this year I set goals for myself that were more about living and hobbies than about intellectual pursuits.

anyways I put this goal to myself:

Watch 25 new films

I hate watching new movies, I’m more likely to watch LOTR (extend ed) 3 times a year then watch a short new film. idk I think its the anxiety? of starting something new, and maybe it never lives up to the hype or it can’t keep my attention and I get bored. I once stopped a film 20 minutes from the end. I’ve never gone back to finish it, doesn’t bother me 🤷🏼‍♀️

but yes I set a goal, and I’m actually going to complete it? early? like quelle surprise

and I was inspired by various journalling community ppl on how they document their media consumption, so i created spreads about the films and wrote reviews in my journal. and i thought I would share them with you, cause I got no where else to post them lol

audiobooks

okay so i finally tried out audiobooks last week, and i've already listened through 2 and started on a third. not sure i love them yet, but they definitely are useful for being able to listen to a story while doing other things.

good for multitasking!

i've finished Animal Farm and The Hobbit (reviews to come), and working my way through Fahrenheit 451.

Next up is:

i was going to listen through "The Way of Kings" by Brandon Sanderson, but its 45 hours!? Should I? would it be quicker for me to read it myself?
