Soonyoung leaned against the cold wall of the empty practice room, arms crossed and thoughts spiraling. He was angry, he felt betrayed not only by you but by Seungcheol as well. For someone who he respected and saw as his brother, he was hurt that he hid things from him. Their once-broken friendship was mended, but it was as if another crack was made due to the secrets that were kept. He tried to understand Seungcheol’s possible reasons for not admitting the truth, but he couldn’t look past his rage.

Soonyoung gave his heart to you, you accepted it and he took yours in return. But the thought of you and Seungcheol being together during the time you detached yourself from everybody, including him, sparked him so much jealousy.

As Soonyoung stood there, the door handle to the room twisted. He stood up and kept his arms crossed as he knew that it was Seungcheol who was about to walk through the door.

Seungcheol slowly walked inside with his hands in his pocket and waved to Soonyoung with a smile. That bright smile quickly disappeared once he saw his younger brother’s face. The two men stood face to face with obvious tension in the air.

“Hey Soonyoung.”

“Why didn’t you tell me?” Soonyoung asked.

“Tell you what?” the older one replied.

“That you had- have feelings for my girlfriend.”

“Soonyoung I-“ Seungcheol was cut off as Soonyoung grabbed him by the collar. The older one didn’t stop him as he knew it would lead to further conflict.

“After fixing our friendship, this is what you do to me?” he gritted his teeth.

Seungcheol tried his best to suppress his anger. What Soonyoung didn’t know was he was the reason why Seungcheol kept it a secret. Seungcheol never told anybody else except Jeonghan, Jihoon and Joshua. The others, including you, just happened to find out. Seungcheol cared for you but he cared for Soonyoung more. He would never do anything to hurt him and it hurt Seungcheol that Soonyoung would ever think that way.

“I didn’t tell you because I didn’t want to upset you.” Seungcheol calmly stated while he placed his hands on Soonyoung’s fists. “I didn’t even tell Y/n. She just found out.”

“You thought keeping it a secret was better?”

“Yes, Soonyoung, I did.” Seungcheol could no longer restrain himself and at how Soonyoung reacted. Did Soonyoung think that he would do something to damage the relationship you had with him? Did Soonyoung think that he would try to take you from him? Seungcheol shoved Soonyoung’s hands off of his collar.

“I may have feelings for her, but the whole time we were spending time together, she only thought of you. I would never do something to disrespect the relationship you have with her.” he scoffed and ran his fingers through his hair while the opposite hand held on his waist.

“Soonyoung, I care about you like your my own brother. We just mended some broken shit and I would never do anything to fuck that up.” Seungcheol only cursed when he truly felt wronged and upset and Soonyoung knew. “I can’t help what I feel but that doesn’t mean I would make any advances on her.”

Soonyoung now realized how childish he was being, again. All of the anger and jealousy subsided once he saw how genuine Seungcheol’s words were. He realized how stupid and selfish he was. Seungcheol took a few deep breaths and eventually calmed down.

“And it just really hurts that you would think that way of me, Kid.”

“I...” he sighed. “Fuck.”

“I- I’m sorry, Cheol.” Soonyoung exhaled and ran his fingers through his hair.

“It’s fine, Soonyoung.” He patted the younger one on the back.

“No...No,” Soonyoung sighed, disappointed with himself. “It’s not okay. I’m sorry for ever thinking of you that way. I just love Y/n so much. I was being stupid and a dick.”

“It’s really okay.” Seungcheol gave him a half smile. “You’re one of my best friends and I care a lot about you...and I guess love makes us do stupid things sometimes.”

Seungcheol put his hands on Soonyoung’s shoulders and pulled him in for a hug. Seungcheol then knew what he had to do. He knew deep down that his feelings for you would never disappear nor lessen, but he had to let you go,not for Soonyoung, but for himself. This time, he would truly accept the fact that you were never meant to be his.
