Bilbo remembers when she got her first flower mark, a spattering of pink marguerite flowers that trail her collarbones and circle around to follow her spine. She had been rather young, only ten at the time, and had successfully managed to wrangle half the faunts her age into a hunt for elves. The marks had appeared sometime during all the excitement, and Belladonna had sat her down and told her of their history. Of how, during the wandering days, when the world was newer, the plants of the earth had helped those wandering folk, directing them towards good land, warning them of danger or harm. Those hobbits had loved the land so much that the marks of the earth began to appear on their very skin, a reflection of the very spirit of a hobbit in a language all their own, and from then, every hobbit, big or small, young or old, was gifted with the marks.

Fighting orcs, protecting Laketown's people, and trying to reign in the emotions that she feels for Kíli, Tauriel keeps her head high. Even though love has only ever brought pain and heartache to her, she falls in love with Kíli all the same. Once she is relieved of her duties in Mirkwood, she will continue to fight for the people of Laketown's safety, as well as her loves. When all is said and done, in the aftermath the Battle Of The Five Armies, what will she do without her home, duties, and love?

After they are driven out of their home, Fíli, his brother, and their uncle find refuge in the unlikely home of two hobbits. Gandalf said they’d be safe there, but only Thorin can keep them safe.
Thorin has already lost everything. All he has left are his nephews and even now he worries that they will be lost to him as well. He doesn’t trust the hobbits, especially the female one. She seems far too interested in his nephews for his liking.
Kíli misses his amad. He knows he should be more cautious, but he likes the hobbits. He especially likes the lady one. She reminds him of his amad.
Briar never fit in the Shire. She was always too different. But maybe, her place was always meant to be in the mountains instead of hills.
Bilbo always knew his job was to protect his little sister. She was the only family he had left, after all. But family isn’t always defined by blood. Sometimes family is by choice.

Post Battle of the Five Armies, Tauriel comes to the realisation that a night spent with Kili back in Mirkwood before their escape, has been more productive than she thought.
With the Durins dead, she goes back with Bilbo to the Shire, to have her and Kili's baby in peace.
A meddling wizard turning up in Erebor a few years later really throws that plan into a furnace.
The company of Thorin Oakenshield, along with Dis, mother of Fili and Kili, set out to bring Tauriel and the heir to the line of Durin home.
Too bad they're going to end up in a custody battle with the King of Mirkwood.

Sound rushed back in, different from before, and Bilbo opened his eyes hesitantly. There was no one near him - only the staff, still lying innocently next to the tent. And… had he fallen? He didn’t think that he had, but he was much closer to the ground than he had been, so he must have.
It was when he tried to rise to his feet that he realized that something was horribly wrong. Instead of bending at the waist to sit up and then stand, he felt himself turn slightly on to his belly and then rise to his feet.
His four feet. Four, furry feet.
Bilbo looked down, and all he saw was ruddy red fur and… paws. What the- A confused meow came out instead of the words that Bilbo intended, and very quickly he felt the air leave his lungs. He was-
He was a cat.
Or: After the battle, Bilbo is in the wrong place in the wrong time. Everyone thinks he ran as soon as he knew Thorin was safe, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Bilbo gets to learn a lot about how people think of him while desperately trying to make someone understand that he's been there the whole time. Albeit, the body that has stayed by Thorin's bedside is not quite his own.
