Main character syndrome this, main character syndrome that, when will we talk about "I will never be anything but painfully average" syndrome?

So recently I've been trying to get back into character design and made numerous attempts. But, they all kind of feel empty. Even if I draw them as something I would would find cool, I don't feel it conveyed in the image. I've also tried to create characters that emulate people in reality, in a way, but they all feel like plain backround characters of a fantasy world. No real emotions, passions, motivations, problems. The only time I feel like they have any real personality is when I draw them in a dynamic pose. But then they would lack characterization in any sory of other movement. I have yet to solve this problem.
