cannot stop thinking about how the season finale of fallout set up a road trip buddy comedy between a 250+ yo radiation cowboy who tried (and so far succeeded) to kill his humanity to survive the wasteland and an optimistic doe eyed woman whose whole brand is Being a Good Person (something the radiation cowboy used to be) and will undoubtedly crack away at his hardened leather armor. when lucy bit off the ghouls finger and then the ghoul cut off lucy’s that was a pinkie promise to be bffs
so i’m watching line of duty s3 and look idk how this ends and i know its serious and stuff but how fucking ABSURD is this situation
like however stressful your life might be, at least you’re not DI Matthew “Dot” Cottan, who has backed himself into a corner to a frankly astonishing level
while Line of Duty isn't free of copaganda, I am incredibly grateful that there exists a tv show that actually acknowledges police corruption as an institutional problem rather than a series of isolated issues caused by individuals. the fundamental, final message of Line of Duty is that anticorruption officers cannot ever achieve their goal, because corruption is baked into the fabric of the police force, such that nobody within the police (including the protagonists) is untouched by it. it says that corruption spreads through malice, yes - but also via incompetence, apathy, or ignorance. it says that corrupt officers do not need to be criminal masterminds to evade capture, they merely need to rely on the failings of the institution to protect them.
the show should still be examined critically, because no police drama is without failings. however, I am yet to come across a show that makes such a deliberate point to showcase corruption as systematic rather than isolated, something which even the 'good guys' inevitably fall prey to. it feels like a hugely important message in the current climate, and I'm glad it exists in such a popular and high profile show
Your Bg3 pattern is so cute!!! Do you sell your cross-stitch patterns?
Thank you so much! I don't sell my patterns, I'm happy for people to just use them. My disclaimer is that the colours listed in the key aren't necessarily the colours I've used, because I pick nice colours for the design then realise I don't have them :') I'll send you a link!
Finally got to finish this piece! Raphael and @sky-kiss 's very own Joi from her amazing fic which I highly recommend giving a read (in fact go read all her stuff honestly)!
