VOGUE JAPAN ``50 SHADES OF ME``
Kento Kaku talks about his thoughts on "family" — What universality and family he wanted to portray in "The House of the Ninja"? 
The original series "House of Ninjas" is now available on Netflix. Kento Kaku not only stars in the film, but is also a member of the production team as an original idea and co-executive producer. We will reveal the true face of this seasonal actor through 50 questions, from the genesis of the film to his daily life with his family.
“It all started with my family”

1. How did you come up with the idea for "The House of Ninja"? 
: It all started with my family. When I went to see a ninja show with my children, I became interested in the culture of the ninja. I realised that although ninja have a universality that is loved by all generations, surprisingly, not many people know much about them. That is when I began to do a lot of research, and that is how this work began.
2. Is there anything you envy about ninjas?
: The fact that they can run on walls and are superhuman.
3. Looking back, what changes have you seen between now and two years ago when you brought your project to Netflix?
: By adding a lot of other people's senses, I was able to delve deeper into the characters, the story, and the unique Japanese culture of the ninja than I had originally envisioned. In a good sense, it exceeded my initial expectations. It was a great experience for me to have the experience of expanding from one thing to ten.
4. On the contrary, what did not change?
: I wanted to create a theme of universality. I thought the story would work as long as I could properly depict "family", which was the main theme of the film, so I kept that in mind.
5. How do you approach the portrayal of the family?
: A central theme of this work is that a family that has been disparate has to talk to each other again after going through various things. I put the most effort into expressing the family conversations and the humid atmosphere when things are not going well. It's not just that they don't talk to each other, but that there is a "conversation" in the way that they don't talk to each other. That is what I delved into.
6. How long have you wanted to be involved in production? 
: Although it is not clear, I have always wondered what would happen if I simply created my own work. But somewhere along the way I thought I shouldn't do that. But after the Corona Disaster, I felt that waiting was not the only way to work, so I brought my own project to Netflix.
7. Which aspects were you most particular about during production?
: The first is how to eliminate explanatory dialogue and convey the message through images and facial expressions. The other is how far we can create a situation in which everyone plays a leading role. Although Haru, the character I played, is the main character in the story, I wanted to create a structure in which everyone in the family could play a leading role.
8. Any reason why you wanted to get rid of the expository dialogue? 
: It's a different story if you write descriptive lines as interesting as director Christopher Nolan, but it's not real that the explanation is just an explanation.I thought it was my mission to get rid of those lines like that.
9. What was the most memorable moment of the shoot?
: We filmed the killings on the beach in winter, and it was really cold. Yosuke Eguchi, Tae Kimura, and other senior members of the crew did all the action themselves from midnight until the morning. I feel sorry for them, but at the same time, I am grateful again for their hard work.

10. Are there any similarities between yourself and Haru, the character you are playing this time?
: I am not sure if we have anything in common, but I can sympathise. Haru is a character who holds something inside of himself: he stifles himself and covers up his emotions. I could both sympathise and understand the actions he takes. I think he is a character that the audience can relate to and watch.
11. Have you ever felt the need to switch between being a producer and a performer?
: Physically, it was hard. In the beginning, I was on set for scenes I didn't perform in, so sometimes I couldn't prepare myself. In the second half, I found a good balance, but in the beginning, I was also filming while fixing the script, so it was very overwhelming.
12. What was the most rewarding moment in your involvement in the production?
: According to the scenario we had created, the staff searched for locations, set up the sets, and the actors joined in, and I was thrilled when the scene came together as a scene.
13. Did the production process change the way you deal with your work?
: The most significant thing for me was that I was able to understand the enormous amount of people, budgets, and time involved in a single production, as well as the effort behind the production, which I could not have realised if I had only been involved as an actor.
14. How did you meet Dave Boyle, the director of "The House of Ninja?"
: He is the director that Netflix proposed to me after seeing the proposal I submitted.
15. Any reason for the decision to go with Dave Boyle?
: It was Dave who wrote the grand proposal for me, over 100 pages long, with characterizations and story sheets. I couldn't imagine anyone but Dave filming something of this quality. We thought he was the only one who could express the warmth of the work and the atmosphere of ninja continuing to live today amidst restrictions and endurance, and I remember saying to Dave, "I don't want it if it's not Dave". 
16. When you met with Mr. Boyle, what did you discover?
: He knows more about Japan than I do. I thought that Japanese people do not know more about Japan than they think they do. When I thought about it, I realised that Japanese people do not know much about the good points of Japan and the interesting aspects of ninja. But by listening to his point of view and actually seeing the script and direction, I was made aware once again of the good qualities of Japan.
17. What's the best part about "The House of the Ninja?"
: Among family members ranging from children to grandmothers, I believe that everyone will find a favourite character that they can relate to and enjoy from different angles, no matter what generation they are in.
18. The funniest thing you've laughed at lately?
: There is an international Instagrammer who has adults reenacting the actions of a 5 year old, and it was really funny. The whole family watched it before bed and we all had a good time.
19. How do you refresh yourself when you feel stuck?
: Exercise.
20. What do you want most right now?
: Rest.

: Takuya Kimura. 
22. Your favourite historical figure?
: Colonel Harland David Sanders. 
23. If you could use one special skill, what would you choose?
: Teleportation. 
24. Any secrets you can tell us now?
: It may not be a secret, but I am claustrophobic and afraid of heights. I am not a good ninja at all.
25. If you could ride in a time machine, which era would you go to?
: The Jurassic period. My kids love dinosaurs these days. 
27. What do you want to eat when you're tired?
: Meat.
28. What is your favourite anime?
: SPY x FAMILY. It's on at home for the rest of my life (laughs).
29. What would you like to be if you were born again?
: A basketball player; I wanted to go to the NBA.
30. Tell us what attracts you to a person?
: Petty villainousness. Of course it's not good to make people uncomfortable, but I like it when I see a little funny side of someone that makes me want to say, "Oh, that's so bad!". 
31. Do you have a habit of saying that? 
: I'm tired.
32. What are you into now?
: English. Many people from overseas come to the site, including Dave. Once I started studying, I started to speak English more and more, and it became fun. Now it has become a hobby, and I feel like I have to study at least  a couple of times a day to get through it.
33. How do you study English?
: I speak English with people from other countries every day. Grammar and vocabulary too. It is interesting to feel the growth little by little.
34. Was there anything that you were happy to be told recently?
: When my child said to me, "I wish daddy's job would disappear". 
35. What is your charm point?
: Wavy hair.
36. What is a question that bothers you in an interview?
: Charm point (laughs).
37. In one word, describe your personality.
: Rushy. Momentum.
38. What is the fashion item that you tend to increase?
: Glasses and hats.
39. What is your favourite time of day?
: Before going to bed.
40. What do you do every day without fail?
: English. Also, I'm looking at Mercari.

: How is Earth?─  My assumption is that civilization is more advanced there.
43. Do you have any suggestions for what you think is the most important aspect of parenting?
: Making eye contact with the child. If you speak like an adult, they will know. If I don't talk to them with the same feeling, I don't think it will work.
44. Which movie has influenced your life?
: I've always loved "Little Miss Sunshine". Everything about it is so cute. I like it a lot because it is also a story about family.
45. Things you would like to do in 2024?
: I would like to go to Europe, as I have not been there much. Especially Greece. I saw it on Instagram and the cityscape was so beautiful.
46. Recently, what is your favourite song?
: "SOULSOUP" by Official HIGE DANdism, the theme song of the movie version of "SPY x Family".
47. What country other than Japan would you like to live in?
: Australia. The atmosphere and climate suited me, and I liked the people.
48. When making a decision, what's important?
: Intuition. When I trust my intuition, it absolutely wins empirically.
49. The person in front of you wants to get well. What do you do?
: I talk about what I have been going through recently. I empathise with them and say, "I'm having a hard time too, but let's work together.
50. Favourite thing about yourself?
: The appropriate part. It's my weak point, but I don't dislike it (laughs). Basically, I think I can handle things, so I can act without thinking too much, and I am happy about that.

🎼 Interview with Takeru Sato, Main Character and Co-Executive Producer
— This time in the Netflix series “Glass Heart”, Takeru-san plays the main character Fujitani and serves as a co-executive producer. What prompted you to get involved in this production from the producer's standpoint?
Takeru: With the advent of Netflix, Korean dramas have become very popular around the world. It was the first time I had a goal, a dream, to have a Japanese live-action production that would also be loved around the world, and Glass Heart's visualisation is the first step toward realising that goal.
— Why Glass Heart?
Takeru: I think that when Japanese works spread to the world, Asian stars were born from Japan. For example; in Korean dramas, Bae Yong Joon in "Winter Sonata", and in recent years, Hyun Bin in "Crash Landing On You". When new cultures are sweeping the world, I feel that there is a need for the power of human beings over the power of content. For this reason, I am looking for charismatic characters who are loved by people. I came across Glass Heart when I was in my early 20s, and since then I've read many manga and novels, and there is no character more attractive to me than the characters in Glass Heart. My desire to play my favourite character, Fujitani, is the same as what I should do to achieve my goal.
— I heard that there was an audition for the role of the female lead, Akane, so why is it an audition in the first place?
Takeru: I hope that viewers will support the female lead while watching the drama, just like Akane, who is gradually growing into a star in the story. And this time, the role is more important than popularity and experience, it's a role that you can't play without passion. If it wasn't for Miyazaki-san's charisma, perseverance, and passion, this production wouldn't be able to run.
— I heard that Takeru-san said hello to the other actors as well.
Takeru: I asked the people I wanted to be Asian stars. They are all so cool that I smile when I am filming.
— What's the most important thing this time as a producer and as a lead actor?
Takeru: I hope I can create kingly entertainment without being shy. 
— Lastly, please say something about the message.
Takeru: I know there's a high bar for musical themes and talented characters, but I think the only way to create a brand new hit is to take on a huge challenge that I don't know if it can be crossed. I'd appreciate it if people could check out what it's like when it goes distributed.

“I play guitarist Sho Takaoka. I hope to show the original's light-hearted storyline and the fervour in it through Takaoka. Although I have no experience with guitar, I did a lot of preparation with the help of the talented staff. I felt the power of music every day, and I was very excited about shooting. In fact, just like the main character Fujitani in the drama who gathers the band, Takeru Sato greeted everyone with great enthusiasm and brought everyone together. I was honoured to be a part of it, and spent every day full of enthusiasm with Jun Shison and Suda Masaki, who were acting together again, Yu Miyazaki, who was working together for the first time, and the staff. Although I was clumsy, I was challenged to shoot the movie so that the characters, who communicate with music, could be on the star stage and that everyone could enjoy it. Stay tuned.” 
Jun Shison:
“A few years ago, when I was invited to dinner by Takeru-kun, he told me with amazing enthusiasm that this was his first production and that he wanted to ask Shison (me) to play the role of Sakamoto Kazushi. It was the first time I had seen Takeru-kun so enthusiastic, and at the same time I was invited to act in such an important production, so I hoped to be a little bit of support for Takeru-kun. The co-stars were Machii, Suda-kun, and Miyazaki-san, who I met for the first time. I had a lot of fun, even though it was hard work every day. I want to show it to everyone as soon as possible. “A few years ago, Takeru-kun asked me out. He calmly told me about the world he wanted to create, the path of expression he wanted to take, and the great passion he had in his depths. Organic supermarket “15/e organic” co-produced by ONE OK ROCK Taka (Part 2)

10. In addition to naturally grown foods, cosmetics are also a large product line. Was it very difficult to develop an "original shampoo of 100% natural origin"?
Yuua Onchi (hereinafter referred to as Onchi): It was very difficult. There was no precedent, so we started from the point of saying, "It can't be done". It took us a long time to find a factory that would cooperate with us.
We finally found it and started production, but the first time we used a sample, it didn't foam and the hair was rough. Among them, we decided to finish with "100% natural origin" and tested it over and over again. Finally, it took two and a half years to complete the shampoo, which smells and feels good and can wash away dirt.
Taka-san (hereinafter referred to as Taka): Conversely, it is one proof that amateurs can make such shampoo only with passion. There are still many things to improve and the cost is ridiculously high. Even so, we now have what has been completed in two and a half years, aiming for 100%.
Onchi: For example, shampoo has 2 scents; kumquat and Citrus. If you add artificial fragrance, you can make it quickly. But even the scent is natural, and it's quite difficult to make it completely.
The professionals at the factory said, "I really can't do it. I can't do it. I don't want to do it", they said repeatedly. There were many people who said, "We can do 90%", but there was no point in doing it as we repeatedly said. We weren't sure we could do it, but we kept saying, "Let's just hang on a little bit longer!". We kept talking about it. I am glad that we took our time and did not give up.
Naturally, at first I myself had no knowledge of shampoo and vegetables. Over the course of two and a half years, I think I've become able to have some kind of professional conversation, but there are so many people who are well-versed in this industry.I think there will be many customers coming, so I would like to communicate well and study myself.
11. All customer service staff are nutritionists or dietitians. Why did you insist on a style in which nutrition professionals provide personalised consultation and organic lifestyle suggestions to each individual?
Onchi: We hired people who are not only qualified but also have passion, enthusiasm, and love for what they do. Specifically, you have a "clear opportunity" such as "I became a nutritionist because I wanted to approach my family with food because of illness". 
The passion that people who have had such an opportunity "want people to eat good food" is complete. Since we select only products with so much love, all working staff must work with love, and I hope that each customer who comes to our store can receive nutritional advice.
In addition to that, for example; there is a nutritionist who worked at a hospital, but it seems that the environment in the hospital was not "choosing from ingredients and making suggestions". While we believe that there are many environments where we can't make use of our abilities even though we have the ability to make suggestions, we can make a firm proposal from the ingredients.
Of course it was hard to hire, but I want to create a place where nutritionists can shine more together.
12. Taka-san, do you have any "insights" from your time in the U.S. that have led you to this project?
Taka: When I lived in the United States, there were many people like vegan and pescatrian. Maybe it's because of the country, but everyone understands that.
Although it is a young country in terms of history, from the historical background up until now, it's an image of a country where various races understand each other, so we recognize cultural differences. As a matter of course, there is the word vegan and pescatrian.In that respect, Japan has yet to develop in this regard.
Normally, if you say, "I feel sick," or "I always have a stomach ache when I eat this," you should pay attention to food. When you know the timing, you become more conscious and realise that "Oh, I don't have the right meat" or "I feel sick when I eat this". 
In my case, it is not that I don't eat meat from a so-called religious point of view, or because killing animals is not good. After I started living in the United States, I began to think that it would be better if I told them without making a mistake, and this time I started talking to my benefactor, and as a result it took shape.
13. Onchi-san had a particularly difficult time producing shampoo; what did Taka-san have the most difficulty with?
Taka: I guess it's the control of Onchi who runs too fast when he decides to do it (lol). He has a personality that pushes too hard, and he's the type of person who can't do bad things. He would say no to this, no to that, and then ask, "What are we going to put in the store?", It's not about that, but it's important for us to change what we think is wrong.
Onchi: We talked there many times. I'm the type of person who goes wild.
Taka: Very extreme personality. As I said before, it is important for us to grow based on this project.
14. Please tell me about your future prospects and goals.
Onchi: We have the challenge of increasing production more. For example, they farm themselves and send human resources to support farmers. Furthermore, they create a place to collaborate with farmers from all over the country. My vision is to increase the number of places to sell.
Anyway, the price is inevitably higher now because of the low production volume. We would like to make the price more affordable.
Taka: He is roughly right, but this store is the first place for us to send out information. Anyway, we'll continue to review from various perspectives and keep updating. I think there will be many opinions when customers come in after opening, and we want to build a system where we can deal with such things by ourselves.
This is not a one-off story, but a "project", so it's long. It's also very important to bring it to a point where you can communicate deeply with the people who come to the restaurant, and then expand it all over Japan and the world.
First of all, I want to focus on slowly solidifying this ground without rushing.
15. On the Makuake project page that I saw, there was a sentence that said, "10 years from now, we will know exactly what this project was all about". With what thoughts did you write that?
Onchi: To be honest, I don't know yet whether what we are trying to do will be accepted by our customers yet. But first of all, I'm going to finish the 10 years with my "running through" attitude that I'm good at it. We believe that a year or two will be quite difficult for us, so we send a message first saying, "Please look ahead to the next 10 years from now on".
Taka: Ten years is a milestone. After 10 years of doing one thing, there is always a view to wait for. Various things are aggregated there at once.
I've been in a band for many years, but as I joined this band and worked with dreams and accomplished them, my way of thinking has not changed a millimetre since ancient times. Anyway, keep doing it. It may be contrary to today's times when everything is readily available and convenient, but in a good way I want to be a rebel.
There are many technologies that make AI appear in the world and people think, "Don't you need musicians?" But there is definitely a "simple answer" in the world.
It's already been derived by our ancestors. In this day and age, we will once again revive the simplest and most important answer of continuing to do so, going against the world. I think that's the creative thing. It takes time, but this is a matter of course.
You have to take the time to clear up the missing parts and make good ones. That will lead to the next future. That is why we decided to say a figure of 10 years and try to do it together.
16. Finally, please send a message to your supporters who support and purchase your products on Makuake and to the general customers who visit your store.
Onchi: First of all, I would like you to experience an organic supermarket where only naturally grown products and 100% natural products are collected. I think there are good and bad opinions, so we would like to receive them more and more and update ourselves. I would be happy if we could build up the "15/e organic" brand together with everyone. 
Taka: As he said, we have to grow with this project, and we want to develop the ultimate goal of what we can do for others. There is still a need for a balance. I think the Japanese have a very delicate sense that stands out from all over the world.
Based on this place, we will communicate more and more ideas, so if you can sympathise with that idea, please come to our store. And I would appreciate it if you could spread that idea with love in thinking about the real future of Japan.

[Exclusive Report] Organic supermarket “15/e organic” co-produced by ONE OK ROCK Taka (Part 1)

In a back alley in the Omotesando area, a green house surrounded by lush vegetation is attracting a lot of attention. It is the soon-to-open organic supermarket “15/e organic”. 
Taka, vocalist of a popular rock band ONE OK ROCK co-produced the store with ONPA JAPAN CEO Yuua Onchi, and when Taka reported his involvement on Instagram, the number of followers on the "15/e organic" account literally skyrocketed. Many fans are eagerly awaiting further news.
This new project is actually scheduled to start on "Makuake" on February 1. To learn more about the details of the project, we interviewed the couple at the store, which is currently preparing for its opening to rave reviews.
Please tell us about your relationship and how "15/e organic" was launched.
Yuua Onchi (pictured right): We are the same age, born in 1988, and have been dining together privately since our late 20s. When I was in my 20s, I lived my life without paying any attention to "food" at all, but when I turned 30, I began to gain weight with my diet and started to notice visible changes in my body. 
Taka, on the other hand, was someone who cared a lot about food. One day while we were spending time together in Los Angeles, he told me about organic food, and I began to incorporate it into my own life by drinking fresh juices. As our knowledge of organic food deepened, we began to talk about how there were no organic supermarkets in Japan that we wanted, and the idea of creating our own started.
2. What kind of brand (supermarket) is "15/e organic"?
Onchi: We are an organic supermarket that deals only with naturally grown foods and 100% natural-derived cosmetics and supplements, providing only what we see, feel, and think is good.
For example, vegetables are uneven in appearance but delicious and nutritious. What kind of fertiliser do they use, not to mention no pesticides during the cultivation period? Furthermore, we check the details of seed disinfection and are particular about true peace of mind from the seed level.
Given the current food situation in Japan, what is in it? In Japan, there are still many situations where people do not know what is in their food. That's why we are proceeding with transparency and confirmation of all processes, including the cultivation environment.
3. Why did you insist on "100% natural and naturally derived" even if the hurdle is high?

Onchi: When even 1% of a chemical substance enters a product, we do not know whether it is good or bad. We decided at the beginning that we would not handle anything we did not know.
That's because we can't confidently recommend 99% to our customers. There are many other organic supermarkets, so if it's not 100%, there's no point for us to do it. It may be an unreasonable challenge, but I thought it was meaningful to try.
Actually, the concept of 15/organic started in May 2021. Not many businesses take this much time to open, I understand. That's how difficult it was to realise.
It was said that it was impossible to collect only natural products, but with the cooperation of various people, we were finally able to collect them over two and a half years.
4. There are many organic brands (supermarkets), but what makes "15/e organic" stand out in your opinion?
Taka-san (hereinafter referred to as Taka): People have a feeling of receiving it using their eyes, nose, mouth, etc. I'm a musician, so my creativity comes from my eyes and ears.
On the other hand, I like "food" itself, I cook, and I have more friends with chefs and communities related to "food" than others. Among them, I feel that the overall trend in the world is toward business in terms of "creativity in food", which is something you put in your mouth.
Of course, there is a balance between supply and demand, so it costs a lot of money and physical strength to prepare and provide what Eunji calls "100%". In addition, they must have influence in spreading such good things throughout the world. That's why I want to use it, if I have influence and the power to spread it, and my classmate's benefactor, Onchi, agrees and says he wants to do it together.
If no one is doing it, you should do it, especially if it's good for others. I really don't mean anything other than "for the sake of others". If I were doing it for myself, this wouldn't work as a business.
That's how I sing on stage in music, and when I do something for people, I think that it has to be 100% of the time. I'm not going to ask for anything in return.
Including the process of actually going to farmers and collecting products, I think there is probably no other store where all the working staff turn one direction and pursue "100%" so purely. 
5. I heard that Taka was particularly interested in the idea of vegetables handled (taste and nutrition rather than appearance). Is the value that "the content is important, not the appearance" something you usually cherish?

Taka: I think that's probably what the essence is.It doesn't depend on appearance. It may be a world where beautiful things are considered good, but rather than looking pretty, the idea is to incorporate them into your body and make yourself beautiful. I think it is very important in life to convey a message to the world that focuses on such essential aspects of life, in a way that goes against the times.In this day and age, we need to do the exact opposite of what we are doing, or there will be no future. It is no use doing the same thing over and over again.

6. You met with various farmers. What were some of the most memorable encounters?
Onchi: There is a farmer who originally cultivated agricultural chemicals (*1). When I asked him about it, he told me that at that time, he grew what his family would eat separately and used pesticides for general shipments that his family would not eat. He had always had doubts about the situation where "what is shipped to other people is not eaten by us". This is how he came to the realisation that he had to start growing his own food naturally.
Many farmers who are now engaged in natural cultivation have this opportunity. I think the thoughts of people who dare to challenge difficult natural cultivation are amazing.
There are producers all over the country who are challenging themselves, and I would like to carry out activities through brands that will increase the number of such people. If the number of producers increases and the amount increases, the selling price will be lower, and many people will naturally choose naturally grown vegetables. I often talk about that with Taka.
(*1) The method of cultivating agricultural products practised by many farmers in each region, which mainly refers to the use of pesticides.

Taka: I was impressed by a farmer in Yamanashi Prefecture, who is very particular and has craftsmanship. Every time I meet people like that, I feel that they are making good products, but they are not recognized.
Farmers are involved as craftsmen with a pure desire to provide good things. We should create an environment in which these craftsmen can focus a little more. I think it is hopeful that such people still exist.
Through this project, we have also learned a lot from human beings. That's why I met and talked to them in person and thought again that I would like to digest their attitude and feelings, or rather, break them down and convey them to everyone in an easy-to-understand way.
7. What do you mean by "what have you learned from me as a human being?" 
Taka:There are many people who have left the workforce to become farmers, and after all, people come back to nature. There are many people who choose to live within the natural order of things.
In that sense, when I'm doing music, my surroundings are full of machines. The radio waves can be transmitted, and without them, it cannot be established.
That's why I realised once again that it is important to pursue the opposite in my private life. Living in a stressful society, it is difficult to get out of such a loop and control yourself.

But if you have time, when you go away from the city, where the sky is clear and the water is clear and the soil is very nutritious, there are a lot of things to feel. It's such a waste to be paralyzed as long as I'm alive.
Through this project, we would like to communicate that compatibility as we study and grow.
8. Is "thought" of farmers one of the criteria for selection?
Taka: I value passion very much.What kind of passion does the person have in growing and delivering the product?
No matter how good things are made, if we don't understand each other in essence, we can bump into each other. In order to prevent such a thing from happening, it would be good if we had the same feeling as ourselves. We can compete with each other.
Therefore, it is not about money, nor is it only about name recognition. As I mentioned earlier, there are those who are too particular about what they do and are stuck in their own way of doing things and are in a state of "Urashima Taro". 
Instead, you should focus on what you need to do while understanding the current urban situation and environment. Also, even if you are not, please understand that there is a world like this and study on your own.
I hope we're at the centre of that.
9. Please tell us about your commitment to the exterior and interior of the store.
Taka: When we first came to see this property, it was really nothing but an empty house. You don't often see tasteful houses in the city now, do you? This is especially true of Omotesando, so when I saw this property, we were conscious of two things: "leaving the good points" and "transmitting the theme we were trying to do", so I introduced various people and proceeded with discussions. 
First of all, the entrance door is a vintage item used in noble residences over 100 years ago in England. We would like you to enter the restaurant based on the world view that there is only one in the world, and feel a new world among them.

The symbol art displayed in front of us was created by Yuko Oto, a world-renowned master of green art. We've known each other for a long time, but this is the first time we've collaborated in this way, so we want to contact them and decorate their entrances with things that make us feel our lives and strong will. Large trees are reused for the monument in the centre of the ground floor. We talked about what kind of tree would be good, and we looked for it ourselves. Not only the products, but also everything really comes from Ichi, and we collect everything that we see and think is good, and make it into a shape with a little accent scattered around.

Nana: “The collection is a perfect example of Chanel's traditional elements of perfection, dignity, and purity, but it also caught the eye of Virginie Viard, a fashion icon who has a rock and punk sensibility that is very much in line with Chanel's style. The collection is light and feminine, yet bold and active. I had such an impression.”

Nana: “Leslie was a photographer I had been interested in for a long time. I had seen his name in fashion stories in international magazines, so I checked out his website. His works give me the feeling that I am looking at a painting rather than a photograph. There is a sense of quietness, solitude, and happiness in the air, as if there is even a breeze or a scent in the air. There is a sense of depth, as if a moment in the story has been captured. Above all, it has a cinematic feel. I was fascinated by such a sense of depth. I feel that there is a beauty in the work that attracts people's hearts.”

Various scenes were formed on the set, and numerous ideas were exchanged. Komatsu and Zhang also communicated with each other in detail to create each photograph. The shoot, which was the realization of a long-cherished dream, was filled with the power of creators working together to create something new.
Nana: “In the session with him, who had a clear image of what he wanted to capture, I tried to be present in a natural way, but at the same time I wanted to be strong. The sense of capturing a casual moment and the photographic method of incorporating various props— are not the product of coincidence, but a world formed by Leslie and his team's meticulous calculations. I was very happy to be a part of this work. When I was shown the photos after the shoot, I thought to myself, "I'm in Leslie's world!". I was very happy to be able to be a part of that film.”

The entire film was shot with a film camera. The filming of the film overlaps with Leslie's own theme of "More Than Nostalgia". 
Nana: “I have always loved photographs taken with a film camera. The unique texture and nostalgic mood are appealing, and I love the thrill of seeing the developed photos, and even the failed shots are somehow endearing. Nowadays, smartphones have evolved, and we can edit our photos to look like film, but that charm has not faded. I hear that there are fewer developing facilities and films now, but I don't want to see them disappear.” 
「私も昔から、 フィルムカメラで撮った写真が好きです。 あの独特の質感やノスタルジックなムードが魅力で、 現像された写真を見るときのドキドキ感もいいし、 失敗したカットにもなんだか愛着が湧く。 今やスマホも進化して、 フィルム風に編集ができたりしますが、それでもあの魅力は色あせない。 今はもう現像所やフィルムも少なくなってきていると聞きますが、 なくなってほしくないですね」
This year marks 15 years since her debut at the age of 12. For her, her entry into the entertainment industry itself is a turning point in her life. She also entered the world of film. Suda Masaki visited Hiroshima. At the Orizuru Tower, a famous sightseeing spot Suda-san reflected on the filming of the movie "Mystery to Iu Nakare" . And at Miyajima's Itsukushima Shrine, a World Heritage Site to pray for the film to be a big hit.

Q. How you felt when looked back on the filming that took place in various locations in Hiroshima and saw the completed film? Suda: “I watched from the window of the train during the scene in which I was riding the train through the view from the very Orizuru Tower and the Peace Memorial Park. I was happy to be able to see the beautiful scenery on the screen, which is only possible in movies, since the drama was a closed room drama. Also, it was snowing more than expected when we were shooting, so that was also very impressive.”
Suda-san, who once visited Hiroshima on a school trip, said: “I would like to come back again as an adult because I can see things differently.”
Q. about his image of the Hiroshima dialect. Suda: “We all remembered that it was "じゃけぇ" for the time being (laughs). The assistant director is from Hiroshima, and when we were filming at the Peace Memorial Park, I saw him talking with extras and heard a lot of "じゃけぇ" so I thought it was true...."
Next, Suda-san visited the head shrine of Itsukushima Shrine, which is located on Miyajima, one of the 3 most scenic spots and home to about 500 shrines throughout Japan. Suda: “I have been there once on a private trip and it is a very powerful and pleasant place, so I am very much looking forward to it. I couldn't go there when the movie was shot on location, so I'm looking forward to seeing the completed Otorii Gate”
In the solemn atmosphere of the sacred space, Suda-san prayed for about 15 minutes, offered a tamagushi (skewer), and prayed for a big hit with a heartfelt look. Suda: “I was happy to see it again because it was undergoing restoration, and I was able to take a short walk, which helped me relax and feel refreshed.”
The Miyajima ladle is a lucky charm that is said to bring business luck and good fortune, but the one prepared this time is a custom-made one measuring 130 cm in length and weighing 8 kilograms. Suda: “It was my first time to hold a ladle of this size, and it was quite heavy, and I didn't know how to hold it properly (laughs). I feel sad that it has changed from a drama to a movie and now it belongs to the audience, but I would be happy if it could be conveyed kindly to the audience who watched it.”

Suda Masaki talks about "Mystery to Iu Nakare" and the movies that have left a lasting impression on him.
Films that will stay in your heart
Masaki Sugata is an actor loved by the screen. The sense of urgency in "The Backwater (2013)" and "Wilderness (2017)", as if he is about to explode at any moment. In "We Made a Beautiful Bouquet (2021)" and "Hyakka (2022)", his casualness overlaps with the shadow of someone he met sometime ago. He can play any role, and at the same time, he dyes it with his own color.
What has he loved about movies?
We asked Suda-san about his most memorable films, and were told that the special feature in this issue will include his top five films in a variety of genres.
Suda: “I wonder what it is….. In terms of Japanese films, I used to watch "Juninin no yasashii nihonjin (1991)" by Koki Mitani-san repeatedly when I was a little kid. I loved the energy of that ensemble drama that progressed in a single situation. The dialogue between the actors must have been interesting.” 
Suda-san continued, "I also like horror stories these days". It is still fresh in my mind that about a year ago, when we interviewed Suda-san for "Hyakka (2022)" he told us that he was into horror and we talked about "Incantation (2022)" , which was a hot topic at the time.
Suda: “That part has not changed. Now I'm thinking about going to see "M3GAN (2022)" . I'm also looking forward to seeing "Pearl (2022)" because the previous one in the series, "X (2022)" was very interesting.” 
Suda-san was struck by the contemporaneity of the work of Xavier Dolan, one of the biggest stars of the 2010s, who recently announced his retirement from directing film. 
Suda: "When I first saw films like "Laurence Anyways (2012)" and "Mommy (2014)", I was surprised. He was not so different in age from myself, and I was amazed that there were people like them in the world. He starred in "Tom at the Farm (2013)", directed, wrote, produced, and edited the film, and even did the costumes. He can do everything, and he also has a very cool face (laughs). The fashion in the play is so cool, I had it that way.” 
Last on the list is the ultimate love film by Korean director Lee Chang-dong.
Suda: “In my mind, I don't think I have yet found a love story that surpasses "Oasis (2002)". The scene where the woman with cerebral palsy who needs a wheelchair suddenly gets up on the subway platform and dances and sings with him, that kind of cinematic expression or beauty is something that I have longed to make--. I would like to make a movie like that, and I would like to be in it.”

Now, "Watching a movie" where is in one's life I wonder if it occupies?
Suda: “To put it another way, I didn't watch many shows before. I was so occupied with what was in front of me that I didn't have much time to spare. But after Corona, especially in the last year or two, I have found it interesting to watch other people's works. I guess I've learned to watch more straightforwardly. For example, when Hirokazu Kore-eda's "Monster (2023)" was released, I thought, "Wow, I'm going to go see that!".”
The artist was asked to increase the resolution of his feelings about how they "can't help but find it interesting to watch other people's work".
Suda: “Maybe I can be a proper customer now. I don't know how it works, but I enjoy it more than before. I feel that what I do in my work is "not important" in my private life. Of course, there are times when I watch a work and feel a little jealousy or longing, like "I like this kind of thing", but when I was in my teens and twenties, it was a bit more negative and sharp-edged. The angles of the sharp horns may have changed, and the way the fangs are peaked seems different now than it did then.”

(9 August 2023) At stage greeting "Kingdom: The Flame of Fate", Takao Osawa decided to send a surprise message to Yamazaki Kento.
Yamazaki Kento cried, unable to hold back his tears at Takao Osawa's surprise message.
Osawa: "I don't have a handkerchief, sorry..."
Yamazaki: "*wiped away his tears* There it is. Thank you very much! I'm really happy."

Osawa: “I met Yamazaki-kun for the first time in 2018. I think when we first met, I was worried. There are some big names around, and everyone is a team that comes forward and says, 'Me, me". It must have been really hard. In the midst of this, he played Shin in a straightforwardly. In any case, he gave me his sincere faith. Thanks to this, "Kingdom 1" became a hit. I was happy, and everyone was happy.
I'm sure he sees a lot of information. I can't help but look at the internet. Some people say things like, "Isn't Shin too energetic?" or "Isn't it too serious?" It can't be helped because it's an evaluation, but I think it's been hard. They were all successful, and they held it to themselves.
He couldn't get in (to shoot the sequel) for about two years. Yamazaki-kun was carrying it alone without telling anyone. I'm sorry that I couldn't talk to you, and I still regret it. Still, strangely enough, he switched to hit it against the action. After about a year and a half of training, I found a different Shin from the closed-minded Yamazaki-kun. From there, "Kingdom 2" suddenly took off. Thanks to that, "Kingdom 2" was seen by many people, which led to "The Flame of Fate". This time, there was another side of Shin, who protects and helps others. I think this is the kind of "Kingdom" that Yamazaki-kun himself won by enduring and overcoming in his own way the scars and pain he experienced in his various experiences. I think it must have been extremely painful. I am glad he overcame it.
I'm also sorry that I intentionally kept him cold and distant. But it made him so much bigger. He has become such a great actor. My time with him is coming to an end in "Kingdom". Like a fire arrow, I hope he will continue to lead "Kingdom" by overcoming various difficulties. I hope he grows as an actor as well.”

Confirmed!!!! Takeru Sato is starring in movie “Shigatsu ni nareba Kanojo wa” based on novel by Kawamura Genki.
The movie will distributed in theaters March 29, 2024, rationed by Toho.
Sinopsis:
Takeru Sato plays Shun Fujishiro, a psychiatrist working at a university hospital in Tokyo. Masami Nagasawa as Yayoi Sakamoto, Shun Fujishiro's soon-to-be fiancé, a veterinarian who treats many animals at the zoo. Nana Mori plays Haru Iyoda, Shun Fujishiro's first love from his college days. Fujishiro, who is about to get married, suddenly receives a letter from his first love, Haru, and his fiancé, Yayoi, who is preparing for their wedding, suddenly disappears.

“When I read the original novel 7 years ago, I resonated with Fujishiro, who didn't know what being in love was, what love was like, what he had gained and lost in his time with his lover, and who went after the truth of love without even knowing how to struggle. 
I wanted to get as close as possible to that truth myself with Fujishiro through this shoot.
Nagasawa-san is someone who is more sincere than anyone else, diligent, and faces her work with love. It overlapped with Yayoi, who had a tenderness and vulnerability that prioritized others more than herself, but lived her life more seriously than anyone else.
With Mori-san it was almost all improvised scenes from the first day of shooting, but the joy of genuinely liking someone for the first time, and Fujishiro, who was struggling painfully in love, was something we accomplished together. Looking at her smile, I naturally became Fujishiro myself.
Director Yamada-san, who was directing his first full-length movie, was troubled with the actors, but had a sincere pursuit of acting, which made me spend a very fulfilling time shooting.
What is the truth about love and what is the way to not end it. It would be great if people could go to the movie theater to confirm the answers.”

“Yayoi suddenly disappeared, leaving behind Fujishiro, whom she loved deeply. I am sure that there were some anxieties and distortions, but I also think that she was feeling bold enough to take a step onto a new path.
It was my first time acting with Sato-san, but because he is someone who calmly captures the character and story to perform, I was able to film without worrying, and I think he is a trustworthy actor. I'm happy to have a sense of trust in him every day.

Riku Hagiwara is one of the most promising actors in Japan today. He has already appeared in a total of 4 films this year, including "Adulthood Friends" and "Kingdom: The Flame of Destiny," in addition to "Beautiful Him (2021)" , which was released as a movie in April. 
He is also starring in the TV drama "Tsukuyomi-kun no Kindan Oyashoku", and is currently starring in the current Tsukiyomi 9 series "Cinderella of Midsummer". In addition to the above, another movie, "Mystery to Iu Nakare" is scheduled to be released on September 15. It is a movie version of the popular TV drama series that was broadcast in 2022 starring Suda Masaki. The film depicts an episode popular among fans of the original, known as the Hiroshima episode. 
The story follows the protagonist Totono Kuno (Suda-san) as he becomes embroiled in a dispute over the inheritance of a prominent local family, the Kariatsumari's family, Hagiwara plays the role of Neo Hahakabe, one of the prospective heirs. 
Hagiwara says it was "tough" to play the role of the spirited Neo, who speaks in a crisp Hiroshima dialect. On the other hand, he also says that it was "a luxurious time" to shoot with his most respected actor, Suda Masaki, after a long absence.
Suda Masaki's enthusiasm really pulls people around him, and I want to be like that myself.
Q. What new ground has Hagiwara reached through the filming of this movie? How did you feel when you were chosen to appear in the film "Mystery to Iu Nakare"?
Riku: “This is a movie version of a very popular drama,
There are many people who are looking forward to the sequel, and there are some blashers who will be joining us in the middle of the film. However, since the drama, I've been very polite, be carefully made I felt that it was a piece of work, I wanted to put my heart and soul into it. On a personal note, the last time I worked with Suda-san (3 Nen A Kumi: Ima kara Mina-san wa, Hitojichi Desu), he was the teacher and I was the student, but in this setting, we are in opposite positions: Suda-san is a university student and I am a working adult. I never thought I would be playing a role older than Suda-san, so I thought it would be a new challenge for me.” 
Q. What was your impression of the drama version?
Riku: “Anyway, I thought Suda-san talked a lot (laughs). I had the impression that the story progressed through conversations, so I was more conscious than usual of listening to what he had to say. Also, I believe that each and every thing in a "mystery" drama has its own agenda. In fact, I often felt that way when I read the script. The precision of this work made me realize once again that the work "Mystery to Iu Nakare" could be called a comprehensive work of art.” 
Q. The story takes place in Hiroshima. You also performed in the Hiroshima dialect.
Riku: “The Hiroshima dialect was difficult. Actually, I had my own weakness for dialects, so I started practicing it quite a while ago. However, I could not judge whether I was saying it correctly if I did it by myself, so I had a dialect instructor working with me one-on-one. We practice by saying the actual lines, but there is always the possibility of improvisation on location. I had to prepare in advance for such instantaneous responses so that I could say them on the spur of the moment, so I would anticipate what I might be told and prepare my response in advance. It was a lot of work, but thanks to that, by the time we cranked the film, I think I was able to get into the world of the film to a large extent.” 
Q. How did you decide to play the role of Neo, who is "mischievous but earnest at heart"?
Riku: “Neo has a lot of emotional ups and downs and a big attitude. At first glance, he seems to be the most crass of the characters. However, when you really get down to it, he has a sensitive and thoughtful side to him. Therefore, if I just yell at them or come on too strong, it makes me look a little childish, and that's a great pity. It's a simple way of generating energy, but because it's so simple, it's hard to give it nuance.” 
Q. Isn't it rare to see such an emotional outburst in a role?
Riku: “Yes, that's right. I have played many shadowy roles in the past, but this Neo may have been more difficult to express than those roles. In the case of shadowy roles, the lack of words means that the actor must express himself in other ways, such as facial expressions and gestures, but if you ask me if it is easier with words, that is not the case. I really felt that this time.” 
Q. From the drama and this script, you said that you felt that "every single thing in the story has a purpose", What role did you think the role of Neo had in the story?
Riku: “As I was acting, I am thinking that because of the intense emotional ups and downs, the tension of the scene is affected by the way the new sounds are produced. I also felt that the role could be viewed from the viewer's perspective, so I tried to react honestly as if I were asking "Why?" I tried to react honestly like that. However, as I mentioned earlier, too much work will not bring out the best of the new sound, and the scene will also become monotonous. During the filming, I felt like I was constantly searching for a place where the intentions I could read from the script and my intentions for what I wanted to do and how I wanted to be seen meshed.” 
Q. By the way, is there anything about Neo that you can relate to or feel similar to?
Riku: “If I suddenly entered an environment like the Kariatsumari family, I would probably end up like Neo (laughs). I can relate to Neo's way of thinking about things, but I don't think our personalities are similar at all.”
Q. Don't you lose your temper like a Neo?
Riku: “In my case, I probably sound like "soon" (laughs). I'm not as fiery as Neo, and I try to speak as politely as possible (laughs). I myself do not get angry at all. Getting angry takes a lot of energy, and it's hard work. So I usually think about how to avoid it.” 
Q. How was the atmosphere on the set, where there is a battle over an inheritance?
Riku: “We got along very well on set. During filming, Suda-san, Keita Machida-san as Rikinosuke Kariatsumari, Kou Shibasaki-san as Yura Akamine, Kohei Matsushita-san as Asaharu Kurumazaka, Nanoka Hara as Shioji Kariatsumari, myself were all together in the scene. Looking back, I think we sat around one table and talked all the time.”
Q. What did you all talk about?
Riku: “That's what I've been saying to everyone since then. "I was surprised at how little I had to say when I was later asked about it in interviews (laughs)". That's how trivial our conversations were. The only thing I remember is that we talked about ostriches.” 
Q. In the official comments, you said "we talked about ostriches" and I was curious (laughs). What did you talk about?
Riku: “I like ostriches. I wanted everyone to know what kind of creatures ostriches are and how cute they are, so I was talking a lot about them. Surprisingly, the conversation went well (laughs).” 
Q. Hagiwara-san's enthusiasm must have been infectious.
Riku: “Everyone may have already forgotten about it (laughs). But I think the ostrich story stuck with me more than any other story I've heard so far (laughs).” 
Q. (laughs) How about the communication during the shooting? According to director Hiroaki Matsuyama-san, "it was common for all the members to talk for several hours" about the scene to be shot that day. What did you'll talk about? 
Riku: “There are many parts of this film that are faithful to the original work, but sometimes there are things in terms of dialogue and movement that would not feel out of place in the manga, but do in reality. Sometimes the reason is clear, and sometimes it is just that it doesn't feel right. This site will not let that "something doesn't feel right" end up in the air. We all talked about it until we were satisfied with it, and I think that led to the director's comments.” 
Q. Does it really take several hours?
Riku: “Yes, there was. I thought it was very luxurious. I was blessed to be able to have that kind of time, and to be able to work on a single piece of work until I was satisfied with its passion. It was also a place where I was involved in each and every scene. I was also very careful in dealing with the Hiroshima dialect, so I had to use my head a lot, and the amount of energy I felt at the end of the day was pleasantly empty (laughs). I really felt like I was there with my whole body.” 
Q. How was it working with Suda-san for the first time in a long time?
Riku: “I learned a lot from Suda-san's way of dealing with—, creating, and approaching his work. When we were discussing scenes on set, Suda-san often played a central role in the discussions. Suda-san's passion to make this production even better pulled everyone around him, and I saw that passion spread throughout the entire company, so I knew that if I became the leader, I wanted to be like him. More to the point, after this work, I feel like my approach to the work has changed a bit.” 
Q. Hagiwara-san always mentions Suda-san as one of his "senpai (seniors)" whom he respects, are there any words from Suda-san that have stayed with you in this film?
Riku: “Suda-san is not the type of person to give verbal advice, but during the filming of this movie, when I was a little stuck on a scene and asked myself, "What about this——", he saw right through it. I was very surprised when he pointed this out to me. It's hard to put into words exactly what I mean, but it seems that Suda-san had experienced the same thing in the past. It was more like I was given a push rather than advice, but there were things that really hit home for me.” 
Q. Hagiwara-san is well known for having followed Suda-san to his current office. Was there a moment in this film when you thought, "I might have caught up to Suda-san"?
Riku: “I have never had a moment when I thought I could catch up with Suda-san, not only in this work but also in any other moments in my life. Every time we work together, I try to update my work, but of course, I don't have Suda-san. But as long as I live my life on the axis of "catch up someday", the gap between us will narrow, and the marrow is also being updated. I hope to do my best so that we can be at the same place at the same time.” 
I listen to Koji Tamaki-san's music all year round.
Q. In addition to promoting this film, Hagiwara-san is currently filming the drama "Cinderella in Midsummer". What did you do on your recent days off?
Riku: “Games. I played games all day long without leaving my house.” 
Q. Is playing games the most relaxing time for you?
Riku: “So I would say that I spend most of my time either sleeping or listening to Koji Tamaki-san's music. I have been listening to Tamaki-san's music for 5~6 years now.”
Q. When do you feel like listening to Tamaki-san's music?
Riku: “I listen to Tamaki-san's music all year round. I'm a member of a fan club, and I listen to Tamaki-san's songs all the time, rather than just when I want to.” 
Q. It must be difficult to switch roles when you have a series of films going on. How do you keep the balance between on and off in your mind?
Riku: “I don't think I have planned that far in advance, like trying to balance things out. Some days I'm completely detached from work, and some days I'm not— however, tend to separate myself from my hobbies, such as watching basketball and soccer games.” 
Q. So if you wanted to put something into a new job, what would you do?
Riku: “Sports are a great source of input. "Hobby input" is the most efficient and easily absorbed. For me, Tamaki-san is like that. Although we are both artists and actors in different genres, I think that the way you stick to your own ideas is the ideal form of an expressive person.”

Interview with MIO IMADA 
I want to enjoy everything with a smile on my face and not overstretch myself.
Carefully dealing with food, clothing, and shelter will become our energy.
This is Mio Imada's fourth appearance in SPUR, and her first on the cover. The fashion shoot was held in a classical atmosphere in a rented historical building in Tokyo.
Mio-chan: “The seven looks and the architecture of the building were in harmony, and I felt as if I was in the middle of a story. I felt like I was in the middle of a story. The sensation of wearing something of high quality was also very stimulating. The lively but gentle and calm atmosphere of the SPUR staff was also very pleasant.” 
She has an impressive, bubbly smile, but during the photoshoot, she exudes an innocent, dignified air, and wears the pre-fall items with a variety of boho poses.
Mio-chan: “I love fashion. I recently bought a Comme des Garcons shirt, but most of my clothes are vintage. I shop based on whether or not I can wear it for a long time. However, in the case of vintage items, I don't have time to examine them (laughs). I once left a store after putting a purchase of a dress on hold because I was not sure if I wanted to buy it or not. After that, I still wanted it, so I went back, but it had been sold and I regretted it. I regretted it because it was a one-of-a-kind item and I wanted it even more when I couldn't find it. Since then, if I find something I want that I can wear for a long time, I buy it right away because it's a lucky encounter.” 
She has a deep love for fashion. That is why she is so excited to be filming her latest Friday drama, "Trillion Game (TBS)", she says "I feel excited to wear bright red dresses and other glamorous outfits in the show".
Mio-chan: “The story follows the main character Haru Tennoji and his partner Manabu Taira as they rise through the ranks of the business world. The appeal of this work is not only the storyline, but also the strong characters of all the characters. The name of my character, Kirika Kuroryu, has a strong impact, but she is an executive of the largest company in Japan, a woman of color, and a bit of a pervert in terms of business (laughs). Haru and Manabu have emerged and become rivals, but even though it would not be interesting for Kirika to see them win, she recognizes them and has mixed feelings about not wanting them to lose. Depending on the outcome of the game, she switches back and forth between a cool-headed look and a bright-eyed expression. It's fun to play the role, including the childish meanness.” 
The film "Trillion Game (TBS)" was the second collaboration with Ren Meguro, who plays Haru, and there are high expectations for a reunion.
Mio-chan: “In the previous work, we are were so reserved that they couldn't make eye contact, but this time we're glaring at each other, and sparks are flying (laughs). There is a big gap between them, but they enjoy each other's company. I think that the somewhat interesting relationship between Haru and Kirika, despite their antagonistic relationship, is one of the highlights of the drama.” 
She has appeared in two consecutive dramas, "The Last Man: The Blind Profiler (TBS) " and "Trillion Game (TBS)" and has also appeared in a number of movies. The thing that keeps her grounded in her busy life is something unexpectedly simple.
Mio-chan: “My energy comes from enjoying daily food, clothing, and shelter. I like clothes, so I feel more energetic when I dress up, and just soaking in the bathtub helps me reset my energy level, so I make sure to take a bath and get plenty of sleep. And I eat what I like! I eat everything with relish, but since I started eating bento (bento box lunch) on set, I eat a lot of fried food.”
Even though she is busy, she wants to spend her daily life as carefully as possible. This attitude conveys her straightforward personality. When we asked her who she admires the most, the name of haiku actress Yo Yoshida came up.
Mio-chan: “Yoshida-san, with whom I worked on "The Last Man" was very friendly and natural. She was always frank with me, and I was able to talk with her without feeling nervous. As my career progresses, I want to become someone who can create a comfortable work environment for everyone.” 
She is now 20 years old. "I don't really feel like I'm in my late 20s", she says wryly, but her eyes are firmly fixed on the future.
Mio-chan: “Even though I celebrated my 26th birthday in March, I can't believe I'm getting older, and I feel like I haven't matured enough to be an adult. However, I am not worried about getting older because my seniors tell me that it will become more and more enjoyable in my 30s, 40s, and 50s. I would like to do my best without overworking myself at any given time. I hope I can age in my own way without forgetting to be myself. I want to enjoy myself with a smile on my face without growing too old.” 
As she says, her place is naturally filled with cheerful laughter. Looking forward, she has a new goal she would like to achieve.
Mio-chan: “What I would like to try in the future is to work as a narrator. I would like to convey something by telling a story straight from the heart, rather than acting out a character. I would like to try it because it is difficult.”

With something to protect, beauty and strength to shine even brighter
It has been about a year since the last cover, which showed the world the beauty potential of Tao Tsuchiya. During this time, many things have changed around Tsuchiya-san. We asked her how she felt standing in front of the camera again today after going through various experiences.
Tao: “I was so absorbed in my first cover last time, but this time I was a little more conscious of the gaps. Just like in a play, I feel that by turning off the switch in front of the camera, I can become one with the lens, the shutter, the makeup, and the costume. After all, I felt reassured that I was not alone. I also received a power (a baby) inside my stomach.”
After announcing her pregnancy at the end of last year, she has continued to work energetically in dramas and on stage. The way she never slows down is typical of Tsuchiya-san. I can't help but feel the energy of core-movement.
Tao: “At first, I didn't suffer from morning sickness (hyperemesis gravidarum), and I was in good physical condition, so I was able to work as usual. It was hard for me to really feel the effects of the illness, but everyone at each site was very concerned about my health. The kindness of people is more important than seeing my growing bellies. By coming into contact with the "life" of a child, I became aware of the preciousness of life that must be protected. After that, my perspective changed dramatically. I respect the hardworking parents in the world, I feel like they are my comrades, and I am learning a lot from them.” 
What are your thoughts for the 2nd half of the year, which is expected to bring even more significant changes for Tsuchiya-san? 
Tao: “In terms of work and physical strength; what was once easy to do may no longer be easy to do. I am afraid because I can't imagine it, but now I want to be able to enjoy any change.”

✨Friendship behind an epic story✨
We interviewed the main cast, Kento Yamazaki and Ryo Yoshizawa, about their memories on set & also noted their messages to each other, which reveal their relationship.

The third work in the popular series on a large scale.
Yamazaki Kento: “In the first film, Shin was a war orphan and went forward with the memory of his best friend Hyou (Yoshizawa Ryo plays a dual role with Eisei), with whom he had survived the war. However, there is also a responsibility for the lives of my friends lost in battle. I hope that I can express the growth of Shin in that aspect.”
Yoshizawa Ryo: “In that sense, I don't think there will be any visible growth because the unification of China is not a prerequisite for the Eisei. However, this time we are going to see the 'Purple Summer (紫夏編)' episode, which is related to Eisei's past, so I think it will help us to better understand his thoughts on the unification of China.”
In 'Purple Summer (紫夏編)', Shin's tragic past is revealed. The new cast member, Shika (Anne Watanabe), brings light to his life, and when Shin learns of this, a new resolve is born in his heart. 
Yoshizawa: “When I played Eisei, I had to show the dignity of a king, so I try to avoid wasting time and to perform with just my eye movements, but I am so conscious of Hyou in 'Purple Summer', I wanted to play the role as humanly as possible, because I'm still a nobody.” 
Yamazaki: “I really enjoyed the scene between Eisei and Shika part. I saw the finished film, but I was so moved by it that I couldn't help but weep.” 
Yoshizawa: - Thanks (laughs). But, the character who appears in the original 'Purple Summer' is Eisei as a child, isn't it? In the film, I am playing the role, not the child actor, and the addition of the film's unique expression makes it even more dramatic.” 
Yamazaki: “The part where Eisei told General Ou Ki (Osawa Takao) about his past and Shin listened to it is also original to the movie, I think that Shin could clearly see the reason why Eisei was aiming for the "unification of China". I think this is an important scene.”
The film also features a new star-studded cast, including Anne Watanabe as Shika, Yuki Yamada, Ainosuke Kataoka, and Koji Yamamoto. 
Yoshizawa: “I was surprised when I heard that Anne-san was going to play the role of Shika. I felt a sense of security when I was playing the role, because I felt the motherhood in Anne-san, and when I saw the finished film, I almost cried a little bit even though I was in the show (laugh).”
Yamazaki: “My dialogue was mainly with the three members of the Zhao Army, but I think the story became many times more compelling with the participation of such great people. Moreover, when I heard that these people were fans of "Kingdom", I felt very honored. We love "Kingdom" and we do it because we think it's fun from the bottom of our hearts, so we were really happy to be working with people who share that passion.”
This is the third in the series. What do the two men, who have worked together for a long time, think "this is the site of 'Kingdom'"?
Yoshizawa: “As I may have told you in the second film, I play the role of Eisei, the king of a country. So, it is only natural that there are vassals, but the people who perform these roles are just too amazing. I have to act as the king of the Qin Dynasty in front of my seniors, so it is a tense situation, and every time I do it, I feel like "I'm sorry".”
Yamazaki: “The scenes in the royal palace are certainly tense (laughs). In addition, as for Shin, his fighting style is becoming less and less individualistic, and his tactics are also a highlight of the game. The number of people and the number of horses used in the filming is truly impressive, and I think it is on a scale that is unique to "Kingdom". I think you can feel the power of the film even more on a big screen in a movie theater, it would be a shame not to experience it, so I would be happy if you could see it in a movie theater.”
Yamazaki Kento and Yoshizawa Ryo have worked together many times before. The same deep trust and bond can be felt between them as in the case of Shin and Eisei.
Yoshizawa: “I am always impressed by Kento's power of believability. As in the "Kingdom" series, when Kento plays characters based on manga, he has the ability to make them look natural, even though their movements would normally be unthinkable for a human being. I think this is partly a technical skill that the sage has acquired through hard work, but most of all, I think it is the power to believe. I think that's what's great about Kento and what I respect about him as an actor.” 
Yamazaki: “I'd like to return the compliment (laughs), but I have the impression that Oryo (Yoshizawa Ryo) is not only a technical actor, but also has a strong heart. Of course, there are times when he fool around, but he still calm at the core. I think that is the connection to Eisei and Shin, I have received a lot of help from Oryo, so I am truly grateful to him.”

About how Gen-san's hair turns into a Shima Kazumi's style (from MIU404) in the summer.

Gen-san: “Why am I so fatigued in the summer, what I realize once again by the end of the summer is that there's no appetite, and the fact that my hair is now frizzy like Annie's (the main character in the movie and musical Annie).
I usually part my hair, it's parted so I often that I forget about the fact that I'm naturally curly, but as soon as summer rolls around the curls get really bad, and right now it's in Annie's style, very curly. As soon as I see this, it's like summer is here.
Today is kind of awesome, it's almost like Shima Kazumi from MIU404. Shima is a detective character in the drama MIU404 that I appeared in, and this character has natural curls, very natural curls, its same type of curls that Oizumi Yo has. I also have natural curls, but my natural curls are more curly, and if they are more curly, they don't turn out to be very curly.
I've been down before and had 2 surgeries. The first was a catheterization and after this the doctor said to be careful not to let my blood pressure rise. The second time was a craniotomy and it didn't matter if my blood pressure went up or anything.
Before the 2nd surgery, before the aneurysm recurred, I was told "don't get too emotional, don't do something will get blood pressure too high, don't to exercise too much", and the radio broadcasts at the time were made while taking my blood pressure.
In this state, I wanted to look like a party girl(?), so I permed my hair. At that time, the production staff of (MIU404) and the production team including the Director said, "It's a good feeling".
"At that time it was permed, my naturally curly but not to this extent, so let's perm it, I'm just naturally curly to an average extent." Shima Kazumi's hair became like that.
However, now it's the point where it's possible (to get a hairstyle like the one I had at the time of the photo shoot) without a perm. When I become like this, people can think that it is the time when my mood is very low, and it is the time when I am in the state of summer fatigue. In the future, as a barometer of Hoshino Gen, people can think that I am super tired when my bangs aren't parted and my hairstyle is a curly Shima-chan-style.”

JUNON, August 2023 
The film "Tokyo Revengers" a series of three films, has finally come to a conclusion. Takumi says he feels a sense of accomplishment, saying, "I've given it my all to the point of burnout". 
He shares Takemichi's way of life, where he trusts his friends and entrusts everything to them. We also asked him about his recent changes in mindset and what he likes to do.

Q. The movie: “Tokyo Revengers 2 Chi no Halloween Hen: Kessen” the contents with dirt?
Takumi: “The possible outcomes of this story have already been explained in “Tokyo Revengers” and “Tokyo Revengers 2 Chi no Halloween Hen: Unmei”, so the climax of the story will finally be reached in the second part of the series. I think it will be interesting to see the realistic vividness of the live-action version, since it is also a well-known evisode in the manga. 
Of course there are action scenes, but the second part is especially interesting because of the complex intermingling of everyone's thoughts and emotions, which I think is the best part of the movie. We performed the role in a very physical way, and when you see it on film, you can feel the emotions coming right before your eyes. I hope you can feel that closeness firsthand.
The work itself fits the word 'heat', but this time 'tears' is also a theme. It may not be a development where everyone can be saved, or there may be complicated tears and sadness. But I think there is a great sense of exhilaration and emotion in it.
What I like about the “Tokyo Revengers”, once again, is that within each team, everyone, including Takemichi, trusts and follows Mikey and Draken with all their hearts and says, "If it's for Mikey's sake", or "If Drakken says so". I think this situation is amazing and a wonderful part of this work.”
Q. How do you feel about the new Takemichi?
Takumi: “Takemichi is an unlucky man. But he is a person who is a driving force for everyone, who relies on others and is relied on by others. I really like the way he puts his trust in people. For example, when someone tries to do something, even if it is different from what you want to do, you can accept them 100% and say, "I like it". Takemichi is a man who always thought he was on the wrong path, so he was moved by Mikey (Ryo Yoshizawa) and Draken (Yuki Yamada) words and thought it was wonderful how they thought of others.
I have always been the type to put my trust in my friends, but recently I have become more so. I am not worried if the relationship should drift apart, and I don't think I would get angry if that were to happen. It's not that I'm being unreasonable or anything, it's just my human nature. Of course I am hurt, but I don't point the finger at others. Maybe it is because I have been an actor for a long time, but when I think about the environment in which I grew up, the encounters I had, and the backbone of my career, I think, "I can't help it". With that way of thinking, no one will dislike me (laughs).
I don't have many close-friends, but like Takemichi, I trust them all, especially the members of DISH//. I think it's the type of person who says, "If you guys want to do it, it's the best thing to do". There was a time when I had my own opinion, and I went through a period of "let's discuss it properly", but now I trust the members of my bands, accept what they have created, and sing.  I have changed my way of thinking that it is my role to deliver the message to the people, I'm sorry, I wasn't talking about Takemichi (laughs).”
Q. Do you have a motto or something that you cherish in your daily life?
Takumi: “I value feelings such as 'fun' and 'comfort' very much. If it's not fun, I don't like it (laughs). For example, if I feel that the atmosphere on set isn't so good, I will work very hard to make it better. I would clap my hands and say, "Okay, let's roll it up!" (laughs). Or when I'm pushing hard, it doesn't move from the front of the camera (laugh). When the assistant director says, "I'm going to stand in" I'll says, "Oh, it's okay because I'm here". And when I want to change the atmosphere, I talk to the lighting department or the cameraman, "What's the lens?". I consider that the actors are staff members of one production. 
Recently, I have come to think that it is good that Takumi Kitamura is "having fun doing what he loves" and that is all that matters. I feel refreshed, having put aside all the unnecessary pride that I had been carrying around.
As is the case with actors and DISH// members, if you keep running for a long time, your vision gradually becomes narrower and narrower. This year, however, I have been involved in many dramas, and my vision has suddenly opened up. And my followers on Instagram have increased by 120,000 this year alone. That's amazing (laughs). In other words, drama is a good gateway to experience a play performed by real people. From there, I would be happy if people would become interested in other works, such as movies. I realized that I also enjoy that kind of thing. However, because I play completely different roles without deciding on a role, people seem to think that there are two Takumi Kitamura's in the same movie (laughs).”
Q. What is your daily life like these days?
Takumi: “These days, I have a lot of hobbies. I modify cars and play golf. I go golfing very early, starting at 4:00 am and returning at 9:00 or 10:00 pm (laughs). The sun rises early these days, so it's light out. I also rearrange the contents of the Gaming PC by myself. To be honest, there are so many things to do that I'm having a hard time. But it's fun. I only do what I like.
My friend, Shuhei Uesugi-san, had always told me to play golf. So I asked him to help me buy some golf equipment, and we went to a golf equipment store and he showed me the various things I needed to know. I was so nervous the first time I went out on the course that I couldn't sleep the day before (laughs). The results sucked, but it was fun.
I talked about golf with Takuya Kimura-san on the set of the drama "Kazama Kimichika: Kyojo Zero," and he gave me a lot of golf equipment. He told me that, "I'll invite you to a golf tournament sometime in May", but I said, "No, no, I'm sorry, I'm really not up to the level to play with you..." (laughs). And he was like, "Well, let's go hit a ball together for now". Well Kimura-san has been very kind to me (laughs).
I don't have time to cook these days, but I continue to keep up with interior design. As for clothes, I have been buying only what I like. I have a few friends that I trust, and I am enjoying my life doing what I love to the fullest (laughs).”
Q. Please give a message to those who are looking forward to the movie!
Takumi: “I've done all I can do in the "Tokyo Revengers" series of movies, and I've already done so much that I'm burnt out (laughs). It is rare that such a large cast gets together to perform, so it was a miraculous time and very exciting for us.
Therefore, I would be happy if the viewers of this film can also enjoy the entertainment of "Tokyo Revengers" to the fullest and honestly think that "movies are interesting". This film is more of a passionate entertainment that makes you cry and laugh than a message. This is what a movie is all about, I hope that you will enjoy the film in a movie theater.”
