Yeah so Our Flag Means Death is one of the best things I've watched in years. I finished it earlier in the week and I'm still fucking obsessed. It's just. I'm not sure how they manage to make it so vulnerable and meaningful and diverse without labouring it, without it being an afterthought or a "quota" (as the boomers say!) but everyone should be taking lessons in how to do it. It's so refreshing to see and so fucking good. Everything should be like this. The whole cast were brilliant (as I'm sure were the crew but obvs don't get to see all the great work they do!) and it was funny and touching and I'm obsessed with Ed and Stede and will be forever. Thank you goodnight.

OUR FLAG MEANS DEATH Season 1, Episode 7 “This Is Happening”

#very curious if you could somehow make an orange glaze with 40 oranges for a regular sized cake (assuming it was regular sized) #like ir you were to realky reduce the juices would it somehow backfire and be too acidic #<- prev tags #So in the last GISH Samba was a guest panelist and issued a challenge to the participants to make a 40-orange cake #And I dedicated myself to making it as close to 40 oranges as possible #I doubled the recipe (so a 4-layer cake instead of 2) and made homemade marmalade and orange curd to put between the layers #and covered the sides of the cake in lapped scales of candied orange slices #and made orange-pistachio shortbread cookies with orange rosewater frosting that I used to make additional decorations #including tiny versions of the crew mates aboard a rice-crispie Revenge cake topper #And I STILL only ended up using 38 oranges #It was delicious though #and held up quite well in the fridge for the two weeks it took for my fam to work its way through it #ofmd #our flag means death #crew4life #permanent ink
