Graded Unit: Portrait IV (Roisin)
Studio editorial photoshoot with the Clean White technique, shot and conducted in the College photography studio with model Roisin Hodge posing in frame, wearing a teal coloured Shein designer dress, with white Boohoo high heels. MUA Ciara Johnston applied Roisin’s hair and makeup for this shoot. This shoot took place on Monday, May 22nd 2023.
Roisin also posed with small jars of the skin care brand, Estee Lauder, partially turning our photoshoot into an promotional advertising shoot to promote Estee Lauder skin cream.
My final images were optimised, edited retouched and colour corrected via Photoshop. The colour look-up mask layer setting was applied to the images, using the filmstock_50.3 setting with a Saturation blending mode setting applied.
Originally, this shoot was just to help out Ciara for her personal project. But the images and shoot were so successfully shot, I decided to include a few of these images into my own project.

Graded Unit: Portrait III (Ali)
My third shoot for my editorial fashion Graded Unit project and my second collaboration with model Ali. Ali and I shot within the Xscape Amusement Centre, located in Braehead. We did not have a MUA for this shoot, we shot on our own. This shoot took place on Thursday, May 11th.
Ali posed wearing a yellow Louis Vuitton varsity jacket black cargo trousers, with black and yellow shoes and a black designer t-shirt to go with the outfit. We discussed the colours of yellow and black for his outfit weeks before the shoot took place.
Apart from people walking into frame and having to wait for the frame to be free, the shoot went well without any problems occuring.
I was very happy to be shooting inside of the Xscape Centre because I had booked up and requested permission roughly 5 or 6 weeks before I even found a model and a specific date to be shooting on. I selected this location area to shoot in because of the giant white support beams on the centre’s ground floor that really caught my eye, and thought these beams would look super cool in the images’ foreground for atmosphere and design.
The final 7 images were optimised, skin-retouched and colour corrected via both Adobe Bridge and Photoshop. The colour look-up mask layer setting was applied to the images, using the Kodak 5205, Fuji 3510 mask setting with a Soft Light blending mode appliance with a 75% opacity and a 50% fill applied.

Graded Unit: Portrait I (Christy)
My first series of editorial fashion portraits as part of my Graded Unit project, with fashion student Christy Harkins posing near the steps near the Kelvinbridge Subway station in the West End, Kelvinbridge. This shoot was also a collaboration exercise with college make-up artist Kelly Tsang, who applied Christy’s hair and makeup for this shoot. This shoot took place on Friday, April 28th.
The shoot was a success, but there were several disruptions during the duration of shooting; people walking into frame, cars or vans needing to go by, dogs trying to foul equipment, and showers of rain between takes.
For this shoot, Christy posed wearing a beautiful pink furry Santinni Couture coat, a pink Asos designer dress, a pair of white Schuh designer boots and a pink Kate Spade handbag, an extra accessory to pose with in frame.
We shot using both natural lighting and artificial lighting from the usage of 2 Canon flash speedlites. A 5-in-1 reflector dish was used to decrease unwanted shadows displayed on Christy.
Christy brought her boyfriend Euan along for this shoot, he helped in holding and displaying the reflector dish for several shots during this exercise.
The final selected images were optimised skin retouched and colour corrected both via Photoshop and Adobe Bridge softwares. The colours within the images were readjusted by changing the images’ curve level settings.

My “Sense of Place” short film about the proper processes of creating a screen printed piece of art.
Shot in the printmaking studio, with my fellow photography pal, Szymon Grondwald in frame. We shot the video with my camera on Tuesday and I finished film editing and adding the music this afternoon.
I took inspiration from the Breaking Bad episode; Hazard Pay, when Walt and Jesse cook meth. This scene inspired me because of the use of photography close-ups when working, the fast paced film editing, the environment with equipment and tools to work with and the music playing.

Still Life: Glassware
I created a still life shoot with a vintage-style Coca Cola bottle and liquids in the studio. I shot using the recycling painting with light method method, with the the rim lighting effect for the lighting. I collaged all the selected images together via Photoshop
I created a small DIY set-up in the studio and worked with that.
I shot with my own camera and my own trustee 24-105mm lens to capture these images.

Editorial Fashion: Location Shoot (I)
My first of two editorial fashion shoots with the Glasgow Caledonian University. This shoot took place on location, inside of The Italian Centre on Argyle Street.
I captured images for this shot with my group of fellow photographers, Robbie Murrie and Mia Stewart. We shot our own individual shoots in turn with our own photography equipment. I used my own Canon camera, with a 24-70 Canon lens, 2 flash speedlites, a light stand and an umbrella to create my own images for the shoot (on loan).
The Caledonian University’s fashion student group provided models (both male and female) along with multiple props and outfits for the shoot, such as; eyewear, jackets, magazines, Nike wear and suits & jackets.
I later took my images into Adobe Bridge to be sharpened and optimised slightly, then finally took them into Photoshop for further optimisations, readjusting the colour correction and adding skin-retouching appliances using the Spot Healing Brush tool.
The models we shot with were:
Emily Walker
Jack Elliot
Grace Miller
Beth Wallace

My main inspirational clip for my moving images short film.
It’s a scene from Breaking Bad.
I picked this clip because I liked the use of multiple camera angles, the working environment setting, the fast paced film editing and the music.
