In which Zim learns pretty quickly that trying to force your cyborg brain to do something it was literally programmed not to do can lead to some pretty severe side effects.

Also homework just be like that sometimes. 

Anyway yeah that’s right I’m back on my bullshit again (and this time it’s not even entirely my fault) 

I blame you @coolcat101s (also thanks so much :D your message kicked me in the feels and forced me to start doing art again after I hit a bit of a wall so you’re the real mvp)

Zim has been wondering why the brains would purposely remove components of the Irken language… seems counterproductive, right? But it’s not until Dib gives his blunt, not in the slightest bit sugar-coated take on the matter that Zim starts to realize the control brains probably aren’t as benevolent as they make themselves out to be. (It sounds bad when Dib explains it because it is bad, dude. Your leaders suck.)

Don’t get me wrong, Zim isn’t dumb. He knew something was up (enough that he went to Dib for help, of all people) but it’s kinda hard to tell the difference between propaganda and actual fact when your government is feeding it to you via direct link to your brain. 

Also I’m finally making a tag for this stuff (iz linguistics au) because I’m three comics deep now and I can’t promise it won’t continue. Do three comics qualify for an AU? Probably not but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Zim is slowly realising that irken is kind of… Limited, compared to the languages humans use. It's almost as if it was specifically designed to restrict the things it allows you to talk about.

Makes it kind of hard to form bonds or question your tyrannical government when you literally don’t have the words for it, huh?

I had a silly little comic idea about Gir not understanding Irken because no one noticed he’d never been encoded with it and… well. It kinda mutated into something else.

In which Gir says some alarming stuff, Zim remembers some alarming stuff (spoiler, it’s trauma) and they both try their best to make sense of a society that literally tossed them into the farthest reaches of space.

TLDR version;

Gir: *is upset*

Zim: … 

Zim: did you know Irkens will literally fight to the death because we physically have no choice? How fucked up cool is that?

Gir: :/
