This month (March 2024) ESPN interview the Basketball legend, Lebron James and one interviewer asks him what he would tell his 18 year old self today. While responding, Lebron mentions Aaliyah with a "Try Again" reference.
"Like the great late Aaliyah says, 'pick yourself up and try again'". - Lebron James.
Here is a small snippet of that part.

Did anyone catch the new Sonic Commercial? The restaurant company released a commercial using Aaliyah's "Are You That Somebody" (ft Timbaland / written by Static Major).
THIS here is one of many reasons why #TeamAaliyah fought so hard to #FreeAaliyahsMusic.
Aaliyah's music wasn't just missing from streaming services like Spotify, it wasn't permitted to be commercially licensed out period. That meant no cameo audios in movie/TV show scenes, no radio airways, etc. If it wasn't AANBAN, it wasn't allowed to be utilized. It was truly a dark-era for Aaliyah fans.
Now that her music is available, we will see more and more of companies and Tv Show/Movie production companies wanting to utilize Aaliyah's material for their projects. How exciting!
Shoutout to @_whoisshe for the headsup on this!
Thank you @sonicdrivein

Flashback - March 3, 2021 - AaliyahApp Twitter page gets suspended.
3 years ago, someone would share their disconcerting art of Aaliyah.
The animated illustration itself was of a darkened sky backdrop with an ocean of water. Aaliyah's severed head would glow and rotate over the ocean (her eyes white and soulless).
I personally didn't stare at this creepy and distasteful 'art' too long and most of us bloggers ignored the invitation to share it on our platforms. But not everyone felt as uncomfortable.
AaliyahAPP would share this illustration on all of their online platforms and express in their description that it is "just art" - but even with their approval for the art, fans were NOT HERE for it.
#TeamAaliyah would band together and ruthlessly 'report' the page and all of their posts until ultimately the entire Twitter page was shut down by Twitter itself; with some asking to target the other platforms we well.
After the admins noticed and relaunched a new account, they would go on a block-spree blocking many of the Aaliyah Fan Page bloggers from their new account (myself included; and I honestly had absolutely nothing to do with their page being removed - I was just reporting on it). Eventually many of the fan pages were unblocked.
Speaking of Blocked.....
DID YOU KNOW: Rashad (Aaliyah's brother) blocked many super fan accounts for simply celebrating the release of Aaliyah's music? (myself included - to this day, we are all still blocked and we did nothing but love and support his sister).

Aaliyah attends the 'Romeo Must Die' Post-Screening dinner @ Mr. Chows iconic New York Restaurant. Mr. Chows was a popular restaurant for Beijing cuisine with dishes ranging from $14.00 to $80 USD.
I wonder what dish Aaliyah picked?
DID YOU KNOW: When asking a family friend (of Aaliyah's) if she liked Pepsi or Coca Cola, they responded that Aaliyah loved Pepsi and drank it all the time.

Happy Blessed Birthday to Clifford Smith Jr., better known by his stage name Method Man.
* Image of Aaliyah & Method Man (above) was taken back stage at the '95 Vibe Music Seminar Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Show. *
When Interviewed on his thoughts of Aaliyah, he said:
"The word in the hood was, she had a cockeye. Cause she always wear them shades, yahmean? But the next album came out and it was like, Whoa, she killin it on some real warrior shit. I didn’t see anyone doing what she did. I mean, Britney Spears tried but I laughed at that fuckin video. It was hilarious, yo. I liked that song Britney bit, where Aaliyah had the snake [“We Need a Resolution”]. It was deep. Aaliyah was our pop princess. To be associated with R Kelly in any way at that point in time, that was street credibility. Some people just have that “it” factor, where it doesn’t matter where they’re at, they appeal to both sides. White kids adored her; that’s a hard bridge to cross right there, man, but she had a lot of talent. And when you meet the girl there’s a level of comfortability I can’t even describe. Her and a friend of mine were best friends, so we used to hang out. We went to Universal Studios [to a photo booth], you know those little corny sticker pictures? We used to go do stuff like that. I remember watching a home movie of her and her friends portraying the Spice Girls, that was kinda kooky. It was like being around your little sister. It wasn’t Aaliyah the big superstar. It was just Baby Girl. I’ve always said that a comedian ain’t funny to me if he try too hard to be funny. Same shit with sexy. Aaliyah didn’t have to try hard. She was a total package as far as singing, dancing and entertaining. She was killin all that, and it was a relief to find out she actually ain’t cockeyed. And her moms was mad peace but very stern, remind me of my bougie aunts and shit. Not bougie in a bad way, but you know, Nigga I ain’t havin it. " - Method Man on Aaliyah

Method Man was part of the Rap group Wu-Tang Clan.
DID YOU KNOW: Wu-Tang clan wanted to work with Aaliyah (who was at the time a high demand artist)? RZA wrote Gravel Pit for Aaliyah.

March 1st, 2022 - Usher shares his confessions.
These are my confessions
On this day, Usher shares with E! Hollywood News that he WISH he asked Aaliyah out! How do YOU guys feel about this?
He starts off saying, "I never told anyone this" and says that he wish he said something to Aaliyah.
"She was a really, really close friend of mine for a small amount of time," he continued... and then we just kind of disconnected." - Usher shared.

Watch the video for more of what he has to say on the subject!
Now I can't stop thinking about Aaliyah when I hear the song "You Make Me Wanna".
Before anything began between us, you were like my best friend The one I used to run and talk to when me and my girl was having problems You used to say it'll be okay Suggest little nice things I should do And when I'd go home at night and lay my head down All I seemed to think about was you - Usher "You Make Me Wanna" August 1997.
No, I'm not saying the song was written with Aaliyah in mind! I'm just saying when I hear these lyrics, I myself can't help but think of Aaliyah.

DID YOU KNOW: Foxy Brown was almost on the roster for a Spring tour with Aaliyah in '97.
#OnThisDay MTV NEWS publishes an article (about the current ’97 Spring Break concert - that spanned from Saturday, March 1, 1997 - Friday, April 25, 1997). In their article, dated 4/7/97, they mentioned that Aaliyah planned a Spring tour with Foxy Brown and AZ Yet.
Unfortunately, nothing ever materialized from this, and the tour never happened due to scheduling conflicts from each artist. Instead, Aaliyah would tour that Summer with Dru Hill, Ginuwine, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, and Mary J. Blige (Per a separate article from MTV about a '97 Summer tour).

The filming for 'The Matrix Reloaded' begins.
After working with renowned film producer Joel Silver for 'Romeo Must Die', ABC News announces (January 31, 2001) that singer, Aaliyah, joins the Matrix cast. Aaliyah would become a principal cast member for the next two franchise films; The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions under the character name "Zee".
On this date (March 1st, 2001) principal photography for the Matrix Reloaded would begin. This would become Aaliyah's 3rd film on her movie resume, but sadly she passed away months later (August 2001) which forced production to halt; recasting Nona Gaye as her replacement.
Sadly, Aaliyah did not shoot enough scenes to be included in the final project (like she did for QOTD). Fans would petition for the production company to still use or even release Aaliyah's scenes, which she did in a tribute section of their DVD. Aaliyah's official website would only release one (1) still shot from the movie set. No other still shots from her work on the movie have been released in 20+ years.
“We are all deeply saddened by this tragedy. Aaliyah’s acting career was just blossoming. She had remarkable talent and charisma and great potential. The Wachowskis and I, as well as the production executives at Warner Bros. Pictures, were looking forward to working with her in the two Matrix films as well as many other future projects. Her passing is a tremendous loss. Our hearts go out to her loved ones.” - Joel Silver / 2001

Video above from Mari Christine's Youtube Channel. (Keanu Reeves speaks on Aaliyah).
The film earned $91.7 million during its opening weekend and $134.3 million in its first four days, including the previews and surpassed Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones to have the highest Thursday opening.
I can imagine the stunning outfit Aaliyah would have worn at this movie premiere.
DID YOU KNOW:
Keanu Reeves attended Aaliyah's 'Romeo Must Die" movie premiere.
Jet Li was offered a role in Matrix but he turned it down.
The month of March is the anniversary month of Aaliyah debuting her 1st film "Romeo Must Die" as well as be the month she would start filming her last.
Wanna Watch this film now (as of today's post March 2024)?
Watch it on HBO Max, Prime Video, Vudu or Apple TV on your Roku device.

DID YOU KNOW: The music video for Aaliyah’s ONE IN A MILLION has a striking resemblance to the set of the movie 12 MONKEYS starring Bruce Willis (which was released December 27th 1995).
The music video for ONE IN A MILLION made it’s TV debut on TV January 5th, 1997. During the course of its run the video became the seventh most played video on MTV for the week ending on February 23, 1997.
It was not confirmed (that I am aware of) that Aaliyah and music director Paul Hunter used the same set or if it was just a coincidence and that they were inspired by the movie for a similar look and feel. Most likely it was all inspiration to recreate the same set.
